Wednesday Wow

So far today hasn't been much of a "wow" day for me, but I guess I still have time.

Yesterday, DMother had a dr. (audiologist) appt at the outpatient clinic & then wanted to visit a friend in another part of the hospital. Turned out it was too much walking for her, but someone offered a wheelchair & took her all the way out to the car. She just doesn't have as much stamina as she did even a few months ago. I must remember that even though she thinks she can do it, my better? judgment must prevail. As I tried to convince her, all's well that ends well. At least she did get her hearing aids bumped up and she can hear better.

Lilac, great to read that your house sale is progressing. You won't know how to act when you have only one house to worry about! Happy birthday to your dgd!

Dee, I can't imagine how one company could continually mess up your meds like they do. I wonder if anyone else has that much trouble with them? Beyond frustrating, I'm sure. Complain away! We will listen.

I've done a declutter and spif of the laundry area.

I've finished the hand-sewing of the quilt sleeve. Maybe that's a "wow", since I can hardly believe I have a chance to sew at all. Of course hand-sewing can be done in the middle of the house where I can observe everything, which makes it more a possibility.

Called ds. Their plane leaves tonight. I won't worry about them because her sister is at the other end waiting for them, and will get them settled in at her place. They do have to get a rental car at midnight in an unfamiliar city with a little baby in tow. But they can handle it.

Kally, within-hospital walking from one part to another can be an extremely LONG walk. Grab those wheelchairs for your dmother when you can - they are a lot of help and really not a big deal.

Good morning. I have computer backups running at payroll. Girls' Night Out became Girls' Night In because, once again, DD10 had sand in her pants and wanted a wash off. We ate Chinese take out at home, did homework, then watched Hogan's Heroes. I did nothing useful except work with the new foster cat. This morning, she did not hiss at me when I came in. She always lets me pet her, but ducks at first. Then she wants attention. If I can just get her to not react badly initially, she will be fine. I did not update Quicken and lost my notes for it. I did not work on the bathtub, which is almost de-sealed. I did get the skinny scrawny foster cat to take vitamins. She eats, but is still too small. While the backup is running, I will relook up all the Quicken stuff at the bank's website. See you later.

Out with DH running errands is always fun. errr.... Anyway, needed a garden hoe as ours mysteriously disappeared, along with a rake..... after a couple stops we got a small lightweight one. 2 bank stops also. Stop in thrift store yielded not a rake but 2 pairs of work shorts for DH. Fun looking at clothes with him...ah, no I'm not wearing pink shorts, or red, or yellow, or plaid...I have a crew to work with..

So the new shorts are in the laundry and I will sew his pockets up the way he likes with a divider. Recently a couple pairs wore out. He tried stapling a pocket and I tried sewing but they're just really worn.

Unpacked from trip, paperwork from hospital refiled, medical info updated, tags for vehicles ordered, Roadside insurance re-newed for 3 years, DH walked about 1 block and now on the phone with HS friend.

I also made up a spread sheet for DH to keep track of his BP and exercise between now and Dr. visit on May 2. New meds should come in about middle of that time span so we will see if there is any change. We picked up one med that he HAD to be on right away at the local drugstore but the rest were sent to mail order. Hope we have better luck than poor Dee. They usually send me an email and say 7 to 10 days and they are here in 3.

Time to go get some water for me and to water a couple plants that look a bit droopy.

Waiting for dd2 and the 2 little girls to pick me up. I have a million things to do but she will only turn 1 once, so we are going to lunch.

Harmony, yes it is that lady. They don't want to pay for inspections or an appraisal. They feel confident in our honesty. We are honest but not everyone is and I sure wouldn't buy a house this way but as a realtor and the title co. told me, since there is no bank involved it is their choice.

Twins, you will love that tub. When we redo the bathrooms I will be getting another big tub, until then I will use what I have. I have never been a shower person except when pregnant and in a hotel. It took some getting use to and I know I don't spend near as long in the shower as I did the tub. That's a good thing.

LucyL. thanks for the book report I think I might like to read that one. Or any book I've not had much time to read lately. Lovely here today a few sprinkles this morning and rain in the night saved h. from having to worry about watering the baby grass for a bit.

My Wow! I had a good bs reading this morning I was pleasantly surprised. H. is up earlier than the last 2 days he's been fighting a cough thinks it is allergies, dd was bothered by them as well.

I slept in a bit today so have not done much yet QT awaits. Coffee is gone. I did spiff up the kit. a bit this morning while waiting for the coffee to brew. Breakfast is done.

Back from Subway and gassing up the car. Also picked up some fresh veggies and fruit. Drove the backroads and very carefully on the way home so the car currently reads over 53 mpg on the tank. That will change as soon as we do a couple of short runs or hit the highway but it is fun to see the high numbers again - in winter we average around 40 mpg.

Dh added something to my day tomorrow (an extra choir practice) while I was out.

I'm going to get back to my reading now. I won't finish the book I started today but I hope to get half way through since it is an easy read (it is called Speak Up! and is for women making presentations.)

Life is good. Back to normal schedule today with plenty of "extras" thrown in to allow me to appreciate the slower pace during the past week.

Three groups have dropped by today. I kept hearing myself say...."It's great to see you....Come on in" while I hurry to clear LO lessons stuff off the table and tuck yesterday picnic chairs away.

Library/craft time this morning was extra fun - about 30 little ones planting seeds (egg cartons filled with potting soil). You can just imagine how neat everything was by the time we finished with those ingredients. The librarian handed me her camera and ask if I would take pictures for her. She was having as much fun as the little ones.

Yesterday I was going to cook for tonight event at church, but DH told me it was taken care of. I assumed we were doing things different than normal and/or they were leaving me out of the prep because of my surgery.....so I just dropped it and didn't follow up on it. This morning our volunteer hostess called with an urgent plea for side dishes/dessert. Thankfully, I keep a fairly well stocked pantry and was able to pulled together several dishes without much effort. I'm taking a huge bowl of cheese dip, chips, my biggest pan filled with baked beans, another large pan of rainbow salad and about 100 cookies. The last of the cookies are in the oven now and the baked beans will be finished about the same time. Our church has issued a public invitation (radio/TV ads, FB, etc) to a free horse training clinic/cook out tonight..... which means we don't have a clue how many we will be feeding. We normally have around 100 people on Wednesday night, but I suspect it could be triple (or more) tonight.

Last night I got most of DMom's garden planted for her and then came home and worked in my garden until LO bath time. I'm running out of room already and am already making plans to enlarge the garden AGAIN!
