Well I see lots of productivity going on around here.

Dee, enjoy your rain. We are very dark / cloudy and already had sprinkles. Not good (though we need the rain) as DH is working outside. I hope they have at least a patio roof or something to stand under if it gets bad. I should have sent an extra tshirt along with him, socks & shoes too but I forgot and of course he never remembers.

Alright, moving along in the house:

#3: desk chores done, mail sorted, bill paid and note written, both out to the mail box; accounts updated, trip out to 2 banks and $ store for disposable containers for today's dinner. Trip out to jobsite on way home to pick up DH so he could get truck, helped him load it with something heavy. Cleaned up a spill in the shop, hosed out string mop in driveway, it was smelling less than pristine. I'd say that all counts as a BIG #3.

1st LOL in dryer, 2nd LOL in washer.

Going to stop for breakfast, the time's getting away from me here.

We are up, S2S, Breakfast & Meds and DH took at walk to check out the gas station while I did up the dishes. We are now packed for the road and DH is disconnecting the electrical cord.

We will gas up and then head down the road. We were going to go earlier but realized that the sun would be in our eyes so postponed it.

We don't usually use the showers at the campgrounds but we are storing coolers in the bath here in the MH and it was easier to walk over and take a good shower. We have to take short ones in the MH because of the small holding tanks for wastewater.

I've made a personal commitment not to turn on the computer till all my morning dailies are done. So far I have picked up my footprints, fed doggies, eaten breakfast with coffee, made the bed, am doing laundry and am 2S2. Much easier if I get out of bed and immediately get dressed. Having the workers building on the roof next to me had been great inspiration in getting me dressed in the mornings. I can't go outside in my nighty....well I guess I could but they might fall of the roof and sue me for distracting them...to feed the dogs like I usually do. I have numerous denim jumpers that I have collected over the years that I slip on when I get up. Not much different from a nighty I guess, but at least you can't see any thing inappropriate.

Sweetie and I went see the Avengers yesterday and had a great time. Typical comic hero movie but nice to get lost in something like that for the afternoon. After that I treated Sweetie to dinner since he's spent so much time emailing, faxing and gathering materials to make sure my retirement is in order. Then we made a trip to Wally World.

Something is in the air this morning and both Sweetie and I am sneezing like crazy. Could be an air alert has been called because of the high temps and wild fires' smoke and we just don't know about it. Its so bad that I've given Sweetie his own box of Kleenx

Off to finish the other things I have on my list...think I'll be way over the 5 mark today. Have a terrific day and Cy'all later.

Kathryn, that is a really good idea! And you are so right -- I think ds/ddil definitely do NOT feel they need the latest in technology, etc. They were both kinda "born too late," you know. Although they LOVE their laptops & iPhones, in sooo many ways they both would have been more at home if they'd been born in their grandparents' generation.
Still don't know what to do about that dratted baby monitor. DH keeps going back and forth -- whether to advise something else to dmil/whether to "waste" the money on something they don't want.

Hmmm... 5x5. And it IS the first day of June. I have high hopes to GMAT starting today. Sooo...

Good morning! I am falling asleep at my desk. Art class night is always a late night. I have started a new picture, an elf baby. We framed a portrait of GrayKitty last night. Back to learning about software!

Thursday dinner crew was at our house until 10:30 last night. Well, S and R left before 10. Dfriend A is so great with my kids that it is fine for her to stay longer; she was reading some of dd16's stories and giving helpful feedback. i got to chat with her shortly, too, about what is going on in her life.

We had rain this morning too. It was much needed. Now, it is gray and wet -- I suppose it might rain more. I am so cold; it is in the 50s but doesn't feel that way to me.

It is soup weather, and I am thawing some beef and barley soup for ds and myself. It is nice to have those packets of homemade soups in the freezer.

Yes, Kathryn's take on lucylee's ds and ddil and baby is interesting and perhaps reflects exactly where they're at right now. Random associated thought: Wouldn't life be so much easier if we knew precisely each person's motivation/s for saying/doing what they say/do? Or what they don't say/do? --Maybe that doesn't make sense to you all, but is it something I've thought about a lot - struggled a lot with some family members -- and Kathryn's comments reminded me of that difficulty.

How fun to see 3 of your dgkids at the same performance, Dee! ((dgd17)) Yes, losing a parent can affect so much of your life. My dfil flunked a year of school (maybe twice?) the year his father died (he was 12). However, he eventually went on to get a PhD from an Ivy League Univ. here and was an innovator and eventually moved back home to be a professor in NL. --Not that it sounds like your dgd17 is in any danger of failing, but I do understand the effects of losing a parent are vast and deep.

I'll admit, a couple of those aren't very time-intensive. But, this was realistic. There are other things I'll do too.

Next 3 items:
1. lunch
2. devo time; didn't happen before I walked out the door at 8:45
3. finish dd14's paperwork for field hockey

Wow, it just got darker and darker, then started raining, and it's been pouring steadily ever since.

I've made up the other bed, refolded several blankets, sheet sets, etc., and rearranged 2 linen closets. That's #4.

I have had breakfast.

#5 - make that dinner, salad will hold in refrigerator, want to make a pound cake to share, casserole can be premade to put into oven at 3:00. Off to do that. I need to call her also.

#5 done, dinner made for them and for us, salad in refrigerator, casserole ready to bake (only going at 5:00). Pound cake mix wasn't cake but pumpkin bread so I made that instead.

I folded another LOL.

Bedspread is in washer right now.
Tidied up bedroom closet, neater now, was in disarray.
I filed a big stack of papers.

I guess that's it. It rained all afternoon. DH came back early soaked. I wrote helper his payroll check.

My back is sore, telling me to stop and sit down. I think I did more than 5!

WOW, mouthy dgd15 has really done it this time. Her phone and I pod have been taken from her. She is grounded indefintely. She will be able to go to church camp and leaves this Sunday for it, plus cheerleading camp and cheerleading practice, but that is it. Dd1 texted her best friends dad and told him that she is grounded so if his dd tries to say she is over there, she isn't. He texted back "she did stay at your house last night though, didn't she?" Dd1 told him she hated to be the bearer of bad news but his daughter DID not spend the night there. We were neighbors with this guy when he was in high school. He has a mess for a wife and 2 dds that are messes. Yikes! Anyway dd1 and her dh are making dgd15 move upstairs and making dgs18 take her room. What a mess!

Well I better go. I have run errands and bought groceries. The boys came home today, so I told dd2 I would watch the kids, so she can buy groceries. She had a meeting with the small business dept. head at the college and it lasted over 2 hours, so she wasn't able to do it this morning.
