SIDETRACKED HOMEMAKERS SATURDAY

Got most of my routine and extra things done. So went to 1 town to deposit dh's checks and 1 of my own. Went from there to the $ store looking for bowl covers -none. Went back to nearby town -4 miles away- to the post office. My box rent is due. I knew that -but had forgotten. It used to be due in Dec. but I only paid 1/2 so that a year's rent would come due in June when we're back here. Makes it easier.

DH is working -pulling weeds I suspect. A lot of that kind of thing has slidden since dh has been out recuperating, etc. Dr. told him Thursday he could go back doing what he was doing. Now to see what the pulmonary dr has to say on Thursday. Need to get meds printed out for that and finish doing the preliminary paper work. Some of the ?'s I just couldn't answer. Need to capture dh long enough to finish that task.

I've had lunch -tummy was growling by the time I got back home. It's gotten very breezy out. I've turned off the heat in here and it feels cozy so will leave it off as long as I can.

Noticed last night that DGD17 is looking rather pudgy. Thank goodness she has dance or I'm sure it would be more obvious. Think she might be somewhat a couch potato if she didn't have that activity. Her dad has never been one to have the kids involved. DD always did. Those kids were SO busy and nicely so.

Some progress. I hand scrubbed the upstairs bathroom floors. I never do that so the water is pretty disgusting. Rinsed and let dry and then rinsed again because I used baking soda on the stains and it didn't rinse up nicely. Just put down the mopNglo to put some shine back on (I hope - not sure if all the baking soda is gone.)

Also was using wood polish to properly dust and nurture the wood in the dining room and office. Got side-tracked at dh's desk. He has piles of stuff under his monitor stand. I pulled it all out to dust and hate to pile it back up so will get a box and put everything into it and make him put things back where he thinks they belong.

During that process, had lunch. So the office is only 1/2 dusted/polished. This is obviously going to be an all day cleaning project.

Sleeping in to the sound of rain on the roof... mmmm... sounds like heaven, Nancy. (Of course, I sleep in pretty easily most of the time... ... but seldom to the sound of raindrops, it seems.)

Looks like a normal/hectic day for helia! Once all three of yours are driving, you won't know what to do with all your spare time, LOL!

(((Sadie))) I am just so sorry you have to deal w/your dh's anxieties like this -- and I'm sorry for (((Mr. Sadie))) too, b/c I KNOW sooo well what it is like to have these crazy anxieties racing through your head * and your stomach * all the time. I am saying a prayer that things will work out well for ds24, and that your dh will have peace and patience to trust that God's will be done in ds's life, AND that this upcoming trip will go well. May God bless your entire family... you deserve a happy summer get-away sooo much!!!

Nancy I don't know where you you can apply for a grant for chickens. Maybe your extension office will know.

I spent several years writing grants so if you get to that point I can help you with that.

HOT! It's 95 outside which normally doesn't bother me, but there isn't a whisper of breeze. I briefly considered moving some fans outdoors, but decided to bring LO indoors instead.

DH took DGS17 fishing this afternoon. I hope they have a breeze and some good shade.

Yesterday I had an then spent some time gathering items to create it. I made a garden wagon. I really really like it! It makes harvesting the vegetables feel organized and easy. This morning I harvested garlic, onions, squash, peppers and green beans and the wagon made it a one-trip breeze to do!

It is very cold here, low 60s.

And I've been sitting too long so now am completely useless.

I did get to choir practice. Decided to skip grocery shopping. I have enough to last until tomorrow and I'll go after church. I hate shopping on a Sunday but I'll treat myself to lunch out.

I need to get moving now. Will vacuum the dining room carpet. One small task to get me back into the swing of things.

Well I'm on a roll now. And not the good kind. The kind that has me gathering speed towards a brick wall.

So, I vacuumed the rug. I swapped ends and started to do the hardwood. I put on the dusting end to do behind the plant table in the dining room and the window sill behind the sheers. I picked up what I thought was a branch off my tiny norfolk pine. Apparently, it was off the Christmas display that was there - no matter, the hose sucked it up.

I moved into the office. Noted the 5x cross-cut shredder was full. Get a big bag and empty it because I have the vacuum out so now is the time to do such a task. Start to clean out the inside of the shredder and note that the vacuum has changed sound. I investigate but all seems fine. I continue and note I don't have good suction any more.

Sigh... I've plugged the hose (an expensive one with the electrical wire for the carpet beater built in) so now I have to unclog it. Simple banging doesn't work. I move to the front hall, leaving a trail of confetti in the office, dining room and hall. No luck. I go looking for a piece of wire and find the drain auger. Even better. It won't work. I take the hose outside and swing it - but gently because of that wire - and can see the piece of branch but can't push it to where I could reach it.

I take the hose to the back yard and run the watering hose through it. The blockage is still there because the water doesn't come out evenly. I eventually get the blockage to the end that is too narrow to get any tools in. So I start running the water the other way and I can't see the branch any more but the water doesn't flow through smoothly so I suspect it is still in there somewhere.

I give up and come inside, hopeful that it is loosened enough that the suction of the vacuum might pull it into the bag. I put in a new bag. I attach the hose and turn on the vacuum. Nothing but water in the bag.

So the hose is hung up drying, I've used the electric broom to sweep up as much of the confetti as I can and I'm giving up housecleaning for now. I still have to get to the kitchen floor tonight, though, because, you might recall I had a clogged pipe on Thursday night and there is dried crud on the floor from that.

I'm going to eat something for dinner first, though.

We are back from town and lunch got new phones.

Ack lost some of our photos for pics. when folks call but don't know how to assign photos yet anyways. The guy forgot to give us our rebate thingie to mail in so will be not getting a good report when they call for customer service.

Weather is a lot better now.
They had beans in my lunch chimi sp? I used to panic about that order goof up
but now I know how to much meds. to take for that.
Found some books at a yard sale today.

Ever lost a phone how do you put identifying stuff so people can get it back to you?
Some ideas might be a helpful discussion.
I recorded a message that my name and slash me behind it maybe that will help. We took photos of each other h. is using that for a screen saver. One time h. had some one just call the last # and it was sil so he said he would get a message back to hubby so he could pick it up.

Nancy I thought of a couple more places to check. Besides you local extension office, check you community or county seat office to see if they offer grants. Also if there are any chicken associations in your area check them.

You may find there aren't any for what you want to do. Normally a grant would be given in the chicken area to breeders or larger chicken farmers not backyard chickens.

Hello everybody. Cuop, some thoughts:
Dee, your DD likely had more rain than we did. It rained a couple days in central florida at my DD2's house when we didn't get any. She got slammed!

MT, Our deaconess are supposed to tend to church members, spiritual and physical well-being. Food blesses one's soul when others donate and work and support, don't you think? We do physical stuff like that, also spiritual, with our prayer chains, visitation, gift baskets for those having some sort of discouragement, etc. I think ours is a good mix. Interesting, DH was there waiting on me to finish in the kitchen today and he took down all the folding tables and managed to get them stacked back in their spot. I said maybe we needed a male deaconess just for those things!

Oooh, Kathryn I hope you get your vacuum hose unclogged. BTDT. How about a wire hanger unbent to straight?

I had possible family coming (DD2) but she never did finalize any plans and phone call wasn't answered this afternoon. Her BiL was taking nephews out deep sea fishing and they were invited, so thought they might have come...maybe tomorrow, don't know.

Was at church from 9:15AM to close to 3:00PM with memorial luncheon prep, service, and cleanup. It was exhausting. Partly being on my feet the whole time and partly the constant interaction with people. I love these gals, they are all so nice and friendly, I am blessed to be part of this, but it sure wears me out! Plus the service was a bit gut-wrenching.

I needed a nap afterwards. All the usual daily things done tonight, plus a couple checks made out...it's been a full day.
