Hello everyone! It has been a month since I was on involuntary LWOP (i.e. no pay). The next contract won't be here until October and there is no absolute guarantee that I will have any work on it. I can't wait that long, so I am on the job hunt. I sent out a resume last night, my goal is at least one a day. I am also getting my finances in order. The only place I have to conserve money is not going out to eat, so I am bringing in lunches. I live pretty frugally normally. Yesterday, I had the crock pot going with today's and tomorrow's lunches.

A breakthrough for DD10: her reading teacher told me she can now split consonant sounds. In other words, she can hear all 4 sounds of the word flip: F-L-I-P instead of F-I-P. She has a reading class from 9 to 945, it is terribly inconvenient. XDH drops her off at my house at 630 and I get her to class, then I get her from class to child care. Tonight is Girls' Night Out and we will definitely do Chinese and probably Chuck E Cheese, where I can get some crochet done.

Saturday, I packed my checked baggage for my cruise in July. I have a few more items to wash and put in. I will be wearing my unfavorite clothes until I leave. I need to pack my carry on as much as possible and make a list of what else needs to go. Last night I did some kitchen cleanup, don't want the pet sitter to see CHAOS. I remembered to bring in more tea.

My office mate is gone for a dentists appointment, I think I will go throw another resume to someone. I also need to make a phone call and send a reminder that I will not be available for cat clinic for most of July.

Wow, it's been a quiet afternoon in the village, hasn't it, Elizabeth. Have a good time with dd. I'm so glad to hear she had some good news.

I've exercised for an hour, the longest I'll give that this week.

Hope your aunt heals quickly, Sadie. My best suggestion for a walk to pick up the mail would be a broad-brimmed straw hat.

Wow, Indiana, like I've said before, I think it's not the temperature but the speed of change from one range to another that can be so uncomfortable. You take care of yourself. I certainly hope that high will be a one night stand!

Cowinkie, I keep getting down to piddly stuff and having it expand. Tobias wants to sleep on paper or cardboard (it's a cat thing) and I can always tell my desk is out of control again when I find him napping on the surface.

I've eaten little dribs and drabs today. My ddad is having his supper now. Later HRH says he wants to make fajitas. I'd better cut up some peppers and onions and have them in the fridge for him. Also about time for the hens to enjoy some protein.

I helped DH bring down the a/c vent filters and check. 2 of them need changed. It appears the other 3 don't get used very much and stay pretty clean, still we had to check them all at the top of 5' ladder. DH can't really do this any more with any ease, so I do it. I hate going up a ladder now. I take one step at a time and go slowly up and down. I don't feel steady like I used to. What is happening to us?

Made real progress finally in the dining room. I got that all pretty much cleaned up and papers put away / organized. Huge stack of plans now on shelf in office. I don't think we'll be using those. Now I have time to lay out some fabric. I'll be working on the binding. Last eve. I tried out some fabrics to see what to use. The one I thought I'd be using was a little short.

I guess that's it for today. Thinking about Lucylee. And Sunny. Have not heard from her today. We didn't have as much wet as yesterday, and right now there is a little sun peeking through the clouds. There are a lot of streets flooded. Our beach we go to often was part of the area with alerts and I know it's sustained a lot of damage. Erosion is a big problem out there. I'm concerned what this will do to our already-rising homeowners' insurance rates.

I'm here, I'm here! And dgson is here! All is well, he looks practically perfect in every way -- well, of course, as far as we can tell, he looks perfectly perfect in every way -- and mother & daddy are doing well, too. He favors ds's baby pictures a lot, but I see ddil around the eyes, too, and he has dark hair, almost identical to ds's at birth -- not thick/wild hair like some babies, but at least enough to comb, you know.
He weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz., and is 20.5 inches long.
Seems to be a very contented, good-natured baby so far -- except when ds was giving him his first sponge bath. We couldn't hear him through the nursery window, but he certainly put up a fuss then!
We both got to hold him... and of course, he is just sooo sweet.
DS has a smile that I don't think dh or I have EVER seen before -- remember, ds is part Vulcan, Spock/Mr. Logical -- but I'm not sure his feet were actually touching the ground when he was walking down those hospital halls today.

I need to cuop, but I saw my name mentioned several times in a quick run-through of posts, and I do appreciate all the good wishes and prayers coming up from this tiny village that spreads across this big planet. Thank you all! (((BIG HUGS)))

Oh -- and I don't know what he's going to call me or dh... I'm just going to go with whatever seems natural to ds & ddil.

I've been too busy to get here today, but I just popped in and had to say -- Congratulations lucylee and family!!! Woohoo! The happiest and best news. I'm so happy for you. I have a large smile on my face. What a joy to have in your life!

Harmony, you know better than to talk to me about balance, because I will suggest certain exercise to you. That doesn't mean I'm confident on ladders of course.

Grateful to these boards right now, having been asked to recommend a hula-hoop. Was able to search here and find the mention that I'd just received an email that dd's hoop I bought was being made. With that date, I could go right to the email and get all the info, company, diameter, size/weight and even banding! Canyon Hoops, btw, very nice people.

Just noticed that I have not posted yesterday or today. Yesterday I was emotional all day. Both dgds15 and dd1 went to the funeral. Just thinking of that had me in tears. Then I started thinking of duncle and realizing daunt will now be alone. With dh on his trip I have had a hard time with him being gone. I have never felt like this while he was on a trip. Anyway I was boo hooey (a new word ?) all day and just couldn't shake it. I talked to dm and db and listened to their issues that I have no control over and felt helpless.

This morning dd1, dgd15 and I walked. Then I mowed. The rest of the day I have been doing laundry, some cleaning, etc. I watched the 2 little girls while dd2 and dgd15 went to the parents/cheerleader meeting. Dgd14 months didn't act like she felt well. Dd2 and I have made the difficult decision to not go to the funeral. It is a 340 mile trip. We live in a dry area and it is so humid there. With these extremely high temps we just hate to be on the road. Dm has commented several times, yesterday and today, that she and daunt will understand if we don't come. I have just felt very uneasy about going and feel better about a definitive decision to stay put.

Dsonil said it was 113 in the shade today at the farm. They have something that they will be doing soon and they are thinking of working 10 pm to 10 am, because of the high temps.

Dh called tonight and said that he had left his expensive leather chaps at the hotel when they left this morning. Once he missed them, he called and they will send them. Credit cards sure come in handy!

Cowinkie, does your pool have a cover?

Guess I better get the clean sheets back on the bed.
