I need to correct my previous post because I did the conversion wrong. Apparently we only get, on average, 10 days a year over 86F. Except that sounds really, really, wrong so I'm sure the newspaper can't be right. Over 90 sounds about right but not over 86. It is 93 right now according to my car (which is in F.)

I'm on Starbucks wifi but at the Subway for lunch next door. Should get moving so will check in later when I get home. I don't feel like going grocery shopping but I need to do that too. We are getting low on milk and fresh vegetables and I desperately want some fruit. I did start the crock pot before leaving this morning so dinner is taken care of. Yay!

Lilac, definitely take as much control as you can of this situation so you can put up with it. (your poor cousin's dd - she had a private plan like a real adult and it was changed!) I like that you are deciding to include your own children in a get-together for your mother on your own terms. On the other subject, your dh and your dd both have plans they wish you would work on, yes, but your dh is working on plans that benefit you personally, so it's hard to see those two things as equally open to criticism! I think your dh would have a right to say "our" plans for "our" own comfort at home take precedence!

Nancy, it must be the day for fussing with spouses. I had been working on the front porch, sweeping down cobwebs, and HRH decided he'd take over and make it a big project, take all the porch furniture out into the yard. I told him it was going to rain and I didn't like not sweeping down the rockers and chairs first, to make sure they were free of cobwebs. He said, no, no, makes no difference, and when he decides to do something he likes to do it ALL. So I said, well, at LEAST don't let Sammie's mat get wet. Can you guess? Yep, rain, rain, go away and it was ME out there trying to rescue her very heavy mat, watching easy-to-sweep little cobwebs sink into ickiness on the chairs. Sigh.

Does Indiana get to come home today?

Cowinkie, I love saying I told you so in this situation. Bet you're just having a change in your headaches now that you are aware of a change in tension level. This happened to my mother when she left teaching. She had been waiting for "change of life" to help with her headaches but it took change of retirement, at 63. Anyway, I hope the rough ones will now not be so rough.

Back home from a lovely few days at the Jersey Shore - and hit the ground running. I left one full busy house in NJ (downstairs unit: 6 kids ages 2 - 8 and 4 adults, upstairs unit: 7 kids ages 3 - 14 and 4 adults) to arrive home to another. Friend $ slept here last night b/c S was hosting her high school girls small group (dd16 is a part of this small group) for a sleepover last night. Shortly after R left this a.m., dd16 returned with 3 girls in tow. They spend the day baking cookies; all are now gone except for one. Dd14's transportation needs today have included pick ups and drop offs at 9 a.m., 11, 2, 3:10 - to Dr's appt. to have a rash checked out, 6, and 8. She is going to UM field hockey camp. It's a great camp; she is being coached by the UMich. field hockey coaches and some students on Univ. teams! Her middle field hockey camp session will be cut short by the Dr.'s appt.' I feel she needs to be seen before she heads over to Detroit with the youth group on Sunday. Sr. Celebration is tonight at the church, 7 - 9; I hope to pick up the coffee around 6:15 and head over to set up the coffee and tea. I still need to collect my thoughts on the rock activity; I have 10 minutes for giving directions and linking it to an OT passage re: eben ezers. I have been to the groc. store, talked with dh, ds, dd14, and R about how to structure our camping/backpacking trip, started laundry, discusses a financial matter with dh. . .

Tomorrow: we're celebrating dd14's bday so I'll need to shop and cook and wrap for that.

Sunday: kids to church early for their trip, church, prep for Detroit VBS lunches. We feed about 200 inner city kids/day there. Some prep will happen at the
church and then I think we're moving to our house. I hope it doesn't take too long; I'm going to need some social down time Sunday afternoon. Sunday night, we're going out to dinner with friends we haven't seen for a couple years!

Monday: Dfriend and I are making and serving lunch to the VBS kids, so I'll be over at the Detroit site for a good part of the day.

Um, that's enough looking ahead. The week after next we'll be hiking and camping in the Porcupine Mts. (Michigan's Upper Peninsula., almost to northern border of WI) so that will be low key. Then, my August will be delightfully less busy! I will not be going anywhere.

I need to go make a phone call now.

Home from church visit and groceries. I have healthy food in the vegetable keepers now. And a watermelon to help fight the heat.

Our house is lovely and cool compared to outside but after putting away the groceries and emptying the dishwasher, I felt the need to put on a fan while I rested.

I need a rest now because I'm tired from my day so far. But at least I feel competent.

did some errands, it looks maybe that we will have rain - keeping my fingers crossed

I don't feel like working so I have to stay to my timer - setting it for an hour - goal finish dailies, work in basement and back room

Tip for today get the small boxes of sugary cereal for grand kids instead of the big box ~ less to tempt us granny types to eat that. This can work for as "breakfast for lunch" or dinner and the grands think it's so special especially if they "help" you shop for it. The empty boxes can be put in the play area on a shelf house for pretend store shopping & cooking when they play as well. [Same goes for Jiffy muffin mixes.]

A cereal story dd gave us some healthy cereal h. insists on eating his fav. raisin bran, I said to eat the other first said he did not like the flakes w/ out raisins I showed him where the raisin were so he could add them not done. Corn flakes will be dinner next week when if its still hot nothing like cold any thing for dinner in hot weather. This is me NOT fussing at h. about this and posting here instead! O yes Don't tell on me I ate the last cookie before mowing for breakfast this morning LOL!

H. just called to say he's on his way home after doing one errand. No afternoon work today again b/c of heat I assume. He sounded glad so his attitude has flipped yea for that!

we finally had rain! dh couldn't believe it but we got a down pour. it was nice working here - it gave me my timer challenge I needed. have a wonderful evening.

yes I am stomping my feet - gosh I feel like I am 6 years old sometimes lol.
dh does what your dh does all the time. sometimes I have to shou him away. ddyounger just gives up and does something else but gets so frustrated with dh.

That's right, Nancy, be good to that man. You never know when you're going to be on the floor and it's going to be him saying, "Can you see me, honey?" Aware that something similar has happened to you before, and guess what....

I got ka-thunked on the head and was awfully glad HRH was there to look down at me asking! Ouch.

I tried to pull some pyrex cassarole dishes off the top shelf (yes, you're exactly right - that is a stupid place to have pyrex, and I will find another place right away). To the side, a little plastic hamburger press that weighs, oh, about an ounce, started to fall and caught my attention, and so when the much more impressive large lid of a cassarole fell, I missed it. But it did NOT miss my forehead. Thereupon, dance, dance....backstep, backstep...yadda, yadda, yadda... barely got the stack down onto the counter and Stooges-fell slowly right out the kitchen door into the dining area onto my backside. It was really impressive in a stand-up comedian kinda way, if it was one who didn't stand well. "DD13! DD13!" I was shook up, certainly, but I handled the important thing, I reached up and made sure my glasses were all right! Whew! Except, there sure was a lot of moisture! Oops. And then the arrival of said child, who, interestingly, is not as good in a mini-crisis as you might think, and whose decibel level can take on a sharp soprano. "Daaaddddiiiiiiiie!" And you know the rest.

"Can you see me, honey?" (Isn't he sweet?) And I could see him and he got ice and wrapped it and got me up, though awkwardly on my part, and found the neosporin and the Excedrin. And I am fine but look veeery innnteresting.

And see, now I have something to add to Friday Flip. Ba-dop-bomp! Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week.

I'm flipping in joy today. First is LO's good test results. Second is DSon/DDIL apparently have sold their home in 25 hours after it went on the market! It went on the market yesterday at 3pm yesterday. They had a showing at 8pm. Those people returned this morning and spent 2 hours in the house (while DDIL drove around keeping 2 kids and 4 dogs out of the house). This afternoon the potential buyers made an low ball offer which DDIL told the agent that was too insulting to respond to. The buyer immediately raised offer. DDIL countered with .01% off their asking price and agreed to be out of the house by the 25th. It isn't an absolutely done deal but it appears their home has immediately sold. AND for a good price = 132% of what DSon/DDIL paid for it 4 years ago.

This kicker in this home sale deal is the timing ..... For valentine gift this year, DSon bought DDIL tickets for one of her items on her bucket list. That event is next week which means they will be out of town for several days. All the flooring in new home will be replaced and the wood flooring has be in the environment 2 weeks before installation. That is underway now and they can install it next week. DDIL is juggling everything so well.....but everything must flip perfectly in order to pull off the fast move this buyer wants.
