Happy anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Okay!

Did not get around to doing any laundry yesterday, just ran out of oomph in the heat. It's supposed to be a little cooler today so will make another effort at a couple of loads.

Must go to post office sometime today.

May or may not go to McD's for a Dr P mid-afternoon; I haven't had any pop/soda since Sunday. I didn't drink any at the sewing retreat, either, so that means the previous one was Tuesday or Wednesday? That's progress in cutting back with that sugary habit.

Dishes are soaking in the kitchen sink. Other than that, I've been on the computer all morning with sewing group stuff -- Emails, financial reports, budgets and newsletter. Blah!

Although working on the newsletter does give me a valid excuse to look at sewing and crafting websites, which is always fun ...

Harriet ~ I think it is perfectly acceptable to attend a spash place and wade in a summer dress or skirt, with a swimsuit underneath if you're concerned about getting wet above the knees.

Clamdiggers or capri pants and a cute top are also totally fine. After all, that's standard beach wear.

Plus the fact that a swimsuit alone leaves you at risk of sunburn, when you're distracted by making sure the children are wearing sunscreen but forget to time the application for yourself.

I would hate to see you miss the opportunity for playing with grandbabies, if you think splashing would be fun.
Don't forget your sun bonnet!

Yes, sunbonnet. I was going to say that a good hat will not only protect you from the sun but hid a lot of the bruising so you won't feel as self conscious.

I'm moving but too slowly.

Dinner is started, kitchen is spotless, I've s2s and done a bit of weeding while drying my hair outside in the sun. Don't think it is making a difference but it does make good use of my hair drying time and means I don't have to use a hair-dryer on it. I figure my straightener does enough damage so while the weather is warm enough to air-dry my hair, I should. The sunlight is just a bonus.

I forgot to push the start button on the washer last night so the laundry didn't run at 5:30 a.m. as planned. I'm running it now since it is a nice airy day to dry sheets.

Nice here too, Kathryn. Have the doors open and the fantastic fans running. Has gotten very gray however. Though there's no rain forecasted for today. DS-A got quite a bit at his house on Tuesday. But it didn't come south of the NYS Thruway. Corn in the fields looks deplorable!

DH moved our tall flag pole up to the top tier of the berm yesterday (no small feat). Now you can see it driving down the road. We want to take a drive up tonight to see what it looks like with the light shining on it.

DH is napping right now. Came in saying he was suddenly sleepy. This is probably what he needed to be doing all the time he was working. Taking more than a 5-10 minute nap. He's thinking he'll be going back to work in a couple of weeks, but I'm dubious.

As I wrote this paragraph I realized it was becoming a skippable vent: So feel free to skip! DD has a card from dsisil that came in the mail today. I really hope it's a 'good' note. DSisil hung up on dd twice shortly after dd arrived here. DH knows nothing of this. DD wrote her a nice note trying to apologize for any offense. DSisil had told her she was very hurt dd didn't go to see her before coming north. All I can say is she should have been inside dd's brain at that time and/or looked at her schedule. DD was being torn by dsonil's health situation, dh's health situations and her TSA team from school readying for nationals. As it was she worked every day for over a week after school was over with her team getting them ready. And then there's gd13! Need I say any more. Of course dsisil thinks that gd is handled completely wrong -but then she has never lived with the shenanigans and she makes no bones about letting us all know she'd have done things 'differently'.

Thanks BookSaver and Kathryn. Actually, I should have mentioned that even though the water is wading height or less, you are either in or out of the soaking if you enter it, there is no middle ground. The splash park is all-sprinklers all-the-time, and children can change some of the sprinkler directions on a whim (soaker-toy type gizmos). So whatever one wears in, ds assures me, it will be soaked in minutes. It will be from 4:30 to 6:30 - ddil is an RN so has already thought of the children/babies in attendance and the right time of day.

Part of what I'm thinking is that I have only 1 child/baby I know who will be attending, and that is the birthday boy himself, who will have a 14-year-old uncle, a 13-year-old aunt, parents and another (childless) uncle-and-wife all competing for time splashing with him, not to mention the other set of grandparents may try it. When you add whoever his little birthday guests may be, with their parents all making sure their child is safe and having fun in the sprinklers, I hardly see room for me, or anything for me to do in there. Plus, we still haven't heard whether dstepson will be able to come. I am thinking I will just enjoy watching! Wish I had a lawn chair to take, but ours are not foldable. Guess I could pile one into the back of the truck and just see "the lay of the land" before I take it out. I do have a straw hat (yes, helpful to cover the forehead's special effects!) and will carry several towels.

Soda, Dr P - I was going to say, wouldn't it be thriftier to avoid McDs for the Dr P, but realized the point is NOT to have Dr P around the house in some large frugal container but as a treat only. Sensible, sensible. I wish I could remember how I felt re: acid reflux during my 3 months absolute abstinence from carbonation for the time frame Jan 1, 2010 to my mother's last hospitalization, but I just can't remember. I'm not sure I was forming opinion then. I know I lost weight because I had 2 cousins tell me, but they both felt it was the situation, and probably right. Since then I haven't gone such a long time without.

Dee, you need to have a brief prepared answer for your dsisil's continuing opinions/objections on that subject and I suggest,
"But we've learned that doesn't work, so we don't do it any more." (repeat as needed)
It would be tempting to remind that dd is an expert in this, both by vocation and by virtue of in-depth study of her child's condition, but I doubt you will get anywhere with it, and you will only grow more upset. Hugs to you and dd - by the way I bet she looks/feels fantastic this summer!

Dee, I get so frustrated with your dsisil on you and your dd behalf. I feel like a person can think what you want, but there are a lot of things you need to keep to yourself. And this is one of those things. I think you and your dd have been more than patient with her continuing comments. It would be nice if someone in her immediate family would tell her that enough is enough.

I have been to doctor for allergy shot... went to the post office... went to florist, paid for yesterday's flowers... paid credit card bill... got myself some pizza for lunch... ate... finished reading the paper... finished the suduko puzzle... talked to ddad on the phone...
Have NOT talked to ds YET... and have not heard from ddil... and I am getting just a little irritated. If he does not call us today, he is going to be out of phone range for 3 days, I think... and ddil... well... I guess she is just too busy with her own family & friends to think to let us know dgbaby is still alive! DH & I are sorta feeling that we are "out of sight, out of mind."

Harriet, I agree 100% -- no need for you to worry about splashing around & getting soaked. Wear your capris or summer dress, sit in the shade, give attention to dgs when they come out of the water & everyone else is tired.

Hallelujah! DS just called.
All is well -- of course, we really knew it was, just like to hear his voice every few days, at least.
He said ddil has really poor connection @ her parents, but all is well there, too.

Meanwhile, I did the bathroom & office missions for yesterday -- cleaned fronts of cabinets & computer screen.

Since those windows and other stuff are gone, some space has opened up in the garage. I've moved stuff around out there but still can't find a box with pots and pans and pot holders, and drinking glasses. I did find my master list of boxes (that dh had "lost" out there) but they aren't on the list so I must have thrown them into an unmarked box.

Phone message from dr's office re: the chest X-ray I haven't had - my appt is on Monday so I need to go do it tomorrow or tomorrow. Think I'll plan for that tomorrow morning...

Unpacking like this is an excellent job for someone with ADD; I can wander the house unpacking whatever catches my fancy, LOL.
