Trying to count my ta-das instead of dwelling on to-dos. Took dog boys out in back yard for potty break. So wet that there are skid marks where Moses slid to go after a tennis ball. Also dh called to check in and may be able to get ds when he's ready. Folded and put away two loads of laundry, did some kitchen and great room straightening.

I think I'll start challah in the bread machine this time. Going to work until the TOTH, unless ds calls first.

Got word from the church secretary that the slide show did convert into their presentation software just fine so I'm good-to-go.

Will start in on editing the sermon now. I've put that off long enough.

This is what I have done today:
* slept in the recliner till almost noon, with a few breaks to eat & check internet
-- very tired & sleepy,
-- b/c I slept in the recliner all night
-- b/c our ac unit is out and it was much cooler in the den than in our bedroom (dh slept on the couch)
* s2s, did daily Bible reading
* watched dh call two local repairmen & grumble b/c he got no answer & they didn't return his calls
* watched dh give up after almost three hours and call unknown repairman in neighboring town
* helped unknown repairman find house via phone
* ignored two calls from one of the local repairmen b/c dh is outside w/unknown repairman & I don't know what to say to other guy

Don't know it any of that qualifies as a ta-da, but I am NOT going to think about any to-do's until this house is cooler.
It was about 82 degrees when we went to sleep... 78 when I last checked. We have two units, so we turned up the one in the other end of the house, opened all the doors, and turned on ceiling fans. That helped a lot in cooling down the den, which is in the middle of the house, in a very open floor plan, but not so much w/our bedroom at the far end of the house. We actually could have slept in the guest room and been quite comfortable, except for switching from our king size bed to the double bed... and giving up the tv... and deciding whether to sleep on sheets last used by ds/ddil or change them... so we took the lazy way out and stayed in the den.
I also gave up walking AGAIN today, b/c I didn't want to get all hot and sweaty when it is so hard to get cooled off again.

It is terrible about the shooting in Colorado. Our world is really becoming a crazy, scary place in a lot of ways.

WTG w/the quilt-making, Harmony! I sooo admire all of you quilters. I would love to be able to do that, but I fear I lack any talent or disposition in that area at all... and I KNOW I lack the patience. I do treasure the quilts I have from my grandmothers, though, and I wish I could leave behind something like that for dgs.
And oh my... (((hugs))) for the unexpected pantry cleaning duty.

Sooo glad ddil is feeling better, Dee... and IKWYM about having to force yourself to get out and be sociable. DH would say I am just like your dh -- and it is true, once I am out and about, I cannot quit talking and just like MY ddad, an errand that should take 5 minutes will end up taking an hour... BUT... on the other hand, a lot of the time, I'd just rather not get out of the house at all. (Another one of my fears for my retirement lifestyle...)
Public relations expert... that's my dad. * sigh *

Started the breadmaker and set up the tall storage in the laundry room so I could move some of the stuff off the washer and dryer. We need to have cabinets installed over the washer and dryer to improve the storage as we only have a wire shelf there. (Yes, I thought about adding some during construction when we choose the kitchen cabinets but dh was losing it over the cost of upgrades.) Some stuff just has to go back to the garage as there's nowhere to store. DH's mother's meat grinder? Yes, I've used it a couple of times to make chopped liver...do we need to keep storing it?

Trying to figure out this round. I was thinking about grilling chicken breasts tonight but we're out of gas in the propane tank and dh hasn't had the gas company come to hook the gas line up to the grill. I wish I could find the box with missing kitchen stuff. I'm wondering now whether I just didn't pack the pots and pans but I have a clear memory of packing pot holders, sharp knives and glasses, I think.

Thank you LucyL, I'm remembering how I typically feel after tax season - can't wait to do everything, but don't feel like actually doing anything. I think there's probably a parallel there.

I wanted real cabinets in my laundry room, too, Twins, but we were both sorta losing it over costs and that seemed like a good place to cut back. So... I don't mean to be discouraging -- but if you want them changed, hurry up and do it. 27 years later, I still have just a single, open, wooden shelf.

DH is grumbling b/c I'm ignoring phone calls. He said, "Are you going to ignore him forever??? Just answer it and tell him we already got it fixed!"

TOTH again. Ds called and dh is going to leave work early and get him home instead of me going downtown again. I've done some master bathroom clean up and purging and I did a round of sweeping up dog hair and dirt. Need to take a rag and do a little "damp mopping" of where ddog tracked in mud. (Our dfriend who has Great Danes actually cleans their feet before they come in....)

Lucylee, LOL because at our first house together dh did install cabinets in the laundry room; they were unfinished, and once installed never got painted.

I am going to shape the challah now...

Twins: one word - IKEA. When we moved the 'Ken' cupboard from the laundry room (that's the actual IKEA name which we found terribly amusing!) I knew I really needed a cupboard so it was back to IKEA for a nice, plain cupboard with enough room for all laundry stuff, plus the econo jugs of bleach, vinegar and window cleaner and the car cleaning/detailing stuff. It is mounted over the laundry tub. The only downside is that I sometime hit my head on it when I'm scrubbing at the tub.

Sermon is edited. It might still be too long but so be it. I'll shorten the prayers. Although it has been a horrid week so that might not be a Christian thing to do.

Pests that look like pepper sprinkled into a container of grain, Harmony, would be weevils that could even be specific to that type of grain, HRH says, and would have been in it since the crop was in the field but didn't hatch until now. So they are likely not an infestation in anything else in your kitchen (possibly can't even live on anything else in your kitchen) but that grain. He says to tell you it seems disgusting but most customers who ate the product before the hatch never even knew they got a little extra protein in their breakfast. He says it sounds like you handled it very well and just double check the seals on other grains, beans, cereals and maybe sugar, which they can't live on, but think they can.

I am back to dealing with that same problem I had the other day. HRH's friend is insisting on lots of time here and I didn't even know he was still in town. He told HRH he has all day tomorrow before his plane leaves at 10 pm, too. Sigh. THAT was a surprise. My ddad is agitated because the couch is occupied and suspicious, asking over and over again who the friend is, but it is really too hot for them to walk outside or hang out on the porch, so we just have a tense situation that the friend doesn't seem to notice. HRH will probably go out somewhere with him this evening and I'm FOR it.

Dstepson came over and he and HRH did get some outdoor work done today - that's the only reason HRH was even home, really. Dstepson is wanting to keep CNN on so that he can keep up with the situation in Colorado, which is fine except that the household is already tense. Dd had things to do, in my opinion, but is in the living room, too.

Well... ac fan is repaired -- but house is still 78 degrees... wait -- 79! Hmmm... maybe it's just going to take awhile to get it cooled down again? This is kinda aggravating.
