Went to breakfast at T Horton's with dd, dgs7 & gd14. She was meeting a woman from a not-to-distant town -she'd bought 2 pair of lacrosse shorts on ebay for dgs. Woman was meeting dd at this donut shop. I had an egg/bacon panini on maple flavored thin bread. It was really good. Of course gd14 was in a snit because dd had spent $$ on dgs. "Not fair". Uh....she bought gd an Itunes card and some other things last night. Of course that doesn't count. DD is already tearing her hair out with gd. We took the golf cart to load wood from her site & took it to DS-R's. When we got back gd was pawing through stuff already packed for FL trip in the morning. Wanted something & dd told her she wasn't taking anything out of the car. You know the attitude after that. Saw evidence of her presence here last night. WRappers from snacks were where else? on the floor. She'd already left or she would have been picking them up. Didn't even bother telling dd -she gets enough negative as it is.

DH has gone to the Empire Farm Days with another worker from here, worker's db & an old co-worker of dh's. Have to go pick him up about 6 miles down the road when he calls. Really hoping he feels better when he gets back. He's strongly thinking of not going to PA with ds-R, dgs7 & ddil when they go for the WKA event outside of Pittsburgh in another week or so. Dboss/campowner wants him to work and dh hates to turn it down after not working all summer.

Heard the "mail" person put something in our box a while ago, guess I'll go see what it was. Maybe it's that "big check" I've been waiting for!

HELIA!! Oh my!

Sadie, now you have me curious where you grew up in this state. Sounds so much like the area I'm originally from -toward Binghamton, NY. Love the descriptions. DH and I go wandering around that area and it's changed so much and fallen down as well. Not in our town but in neighboring small towns -some no more than 4 corners
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Dee, I grew up in Salisbury NY, little 4 corner town up in the hills.(Adirondacks)

Dolgeville was 3 miles away and in the hills too. Went to school there and the town had several factories there. Danial Green, they made slippers was the most famous.

Down in the Mohawk Valley was Little Falls. Dmom worked at a shoe factory. Ddad worked at a bicycle factory. There were several other factories there too. Seemed to remember a dress factory, a tea factory and a paper factory. Was a very busy place.

Would go to Herkimer for big time shopping or motor vehicle office and Utica was the "big city."

Ilion in outside of Herkimer and has the Remington Arms factory which is hanging on. Daunt say as long as there are wars, they'll still make guns. We toured the museum that they have, with the red-neck southern boys I have they like guns, knives and trucks.

It's been a moving target for me today. After I walked the ddogs this morning I went back to sleep for awhile. I awoke to my cell phone ringing and it's the guy who is working on the old house - so I needed to make a trip up there to sort out which light fixtures went in what room, then a trip to Lowes, then a trip back to the old house. That's taken up my day so far today! We had bought four flush mounted lights for various area and the electrician warned me that the light from them is yellow because of the "alabaster" glass shade, so I've replaced with flush mounts that will have a "whiter" light. I know the realtor wanted everything to look clean and bright!

So I just got back home and dh walked in. He had a root canal yesterday a.m. but was still in a lot of pain, and apparently had something else done at the dentist just now - all I got was that his "gum puffed up" and I think he's sleeping now.

I have a temple board meeting at 5:30 and we were supposed to meet friends for a quick dinner and show them the new house - they live out of town now - so I don't know how that will be affected.

Going to try to do a few rounds here. I had this big block of time today with nothing scheduled but driving around so much really wasn't what I had planned.

-empty dishwasher
-clear kitchen counters
-clear kitchen table
-start lol
-finish unpacking box in Mbath, I just just pawing through it for gauze for dh...

-make up the bed
-water plants
-make a DPC
-s2s for meeting
-get rid of 10 pieces of paper on the kitchen breakfast far

My kids and dh think I've turned into a witch this afternoon. I'm just feeling overstimulated - perhaps over peopled - and am really, really grumpy.

HELIA!! Oh my!
:?:

Back from the groc. store and everything has been put away. I called the dermo. office beforehand, and so now I know what to do to get dd14 registered. I'll take her in tomorrow for another pg test. The first one didn't get communicated in a timely fashion. I always feel funny typing that since she doesn't even particularly care for boys, but it is a legal requirement for taking the drug.. . . . .

((Twins)) I've been slightly grumpy today too, still rehearsing words from dmom in my head. I need to stop that.

Off to make brownies; girls have requested a chocolate trifle dessert for the sleepover tonight.

Sadie - I am loving your blog on your vacation and especially your hometown. My elementary years were in a very small town and I love to recount and remember all those fun days. :) I am still in touch with my best friend I first met in the first grade.

Kathryn - I hope you feel better soon. Should you be seeing your doctor?

Sadie, I agree with Norma. I wanted to tell you I see you as "Alice" of the Alice and Jerry books, playing along your row of houses on a small-town road, with the farmer's high fields behind, running sometimes to look down upon your town, see the cows, the little bits of traffic. Calm and happy living for children. How charming that your father and brother planted a tree when you were born. Lots of pensive thoughts when I hear about the slow negative changes for workplaces and schools near your homeplace. Here it's been a different kind of insidious change, as every place of memory gets overtaken by asphalt, congestion, the press of progress pushing every living thing over and changing familiar landmarks to accommodate growth, growth, growth.

Kathryn, :? . At least at dr's office, in my simplistic mind, they would take blood and look at it to see a clue. No one around you is coming down with anything? Ds doesn't have a throat tickle, or a nagging cough? Dh doesn't feel weak or quesy? Nothing? Does ds hear of something going around? How about choir members? Nobody mentioning anything?

Dee, I see helia's confusion. If it were me entertaining, we should all take a deep breath :o and grasp some furniture for support, but helia entertains this much with one hand tied behind her back. LOL.

I think I've been everywhere EXCEPT T arget today, so that's a pretty good title for the day. However, I am just about too wiped out to even post.

I do have to say, in the words of the late Minnie Pearl, I am just so proud to be here.
Seriously. I had a close call on the highway this morning, and it was probably my fault, but I am really glad the Lord spared my life.

Otherwise, the day was (relatively) uneventful. Car checked out well, to the tune of $700  That is pretty eventful, in MY book, at least, but dh seems unphased. He has been looking at the checkbook daily for the past month and bemoaning the balance, and now, apparently he has just given up.
HE came home from his golf game and announced that the transmission was out on his truck. So... that will be the event for tomorrow.
I did get three new tops and a pair of very "dressy" trouser-style jeans for the start-up of school. (We are only allowed to wear jeans on Fridays, but these would probably pass M-Th as well, if I want to try it. I just thought I needed a new pair of jeans, school or no school.)
Apparently, they no longer make dressy shoes that I can walk in. That was the only drawback to my day, aside from almost meeting my Maker.
I also bought a "cool" towel for college football game days. Soak it in cool water & it will lower your body temperature 20 degrees, it promises. We shall see.
Line @ Chick-Fil-A circled the building twice, so I gave up on that and came on home.
Oh -- and I had time to get the car washed & vacuumed, and was still home by 1:00 p.m. Since I had really thought the car would take at least that long, I was VERY pleasantly surprised.

I woke up with a headache, which I kept all day, and I only slept 3 hours last night, so I came home and took a LONG nap!
Now -- waiting for ds & ddil to bring dgson over. Tonight is ddil's last night before she goes back to work, so they are going to the dollar movie. :D
Need to call my parents, too. I think they want to come over & visit w/dgs awhile.

Thinking of all who are also feeling sorta miserable (physically or maybe otherwise) lately...
(((Kathryn))) Take good care of yourself!
Hope Indiana is doing okay...
Thinking of others w/specific situations today...
Twins & Mr. Twins...
Dee & dd... Mr. Dee...
Harriet & family...
Harmony w/the skin troubles -- I can certainly sympathize there!
and all the others I know I've missed...

Sooo neat that Sadie's tree is still standing, in spite of changes in the neighborhood! I have LOVED reading all about your trip! Changes ARE sad, but so nice that you have such wonderful memories of such a sweet, small town childhood. I wouldn't take anything for growing up in a small town.
Tomorrow is another day.

Missed the tree note so had to re-read. Very neat, Sadie!

Dinner is over and cleaned up; just leftovers. The trifle is half-made; dd14 went out on a dinner date with dh and dd16 is hanging out with a friend who got here early. I got the kids bathroom downstairs clean. . . . . I need to do that more often. It was g-r-o-s-s. The tub could still use more work, but it has been improved.

Y'all need to remember that I have some people, i.e. good friends, over when my house is not exactly company ready; I've learned not to sweat it too much. Things stay in much better general shape than they used to, but the coffee table is a cluttered, as is the kitchen counter, etc. I will do some tidying and vacuuming as the girls arrive; I will do more before dfriends arrive on Thursday.

Off to tidy the coffee table and then get out the vacuum - even though the rest of the girls are due any minute now.
