Sending lots of (((feel better soon))) wishes to Kathryn!

My allergy symptoms seem to be improving somewhat. Spent lots of time w/dgs yesterday, too, so I don't think it's residual dog, LOL... that is just on my mind, for no reason, you know, except that I have to have something on my mind, I guess.
Eyes & ears are still a little itchy, but I've quit pouring water from every opening in my face, LOL, so that is helping my mood a LOT!

I have washed our mattress pad and have the sheets & light blanket in the washer now. I'm trying to wash all our bedding before I go back to school. My card says do this every six months, and I usually hit pretty close with it.
Also s/s dh's shower yesterday w/the Mr. Clean pad. That seems to be making a HUGE difference in the appearance of the shower.

So... the house is not going to be in PERFECT shape when I go back to school Tuesday... :cry: ... but I feel at least a little hopeful that maybe I can find a new routine for the school year and TRY to stick to it!
I wish I could have learned to follow my cards PERFECTLY during the summer... but it is sooo difficult to keep to a strict routine when dh is home 24/7 and HIS routine is sooo different from my idealized version of how we "should" be living.
* sigh *
I also wish I could have kept to my exercise routine during July, but it seems various things just conspired to throw me off track there, too... so maybe the more "regulated" school calendar will help me get back on track there, too.
Simplify, but stick to routine... that will be my mantra for the school year.

Today's PODA
* pay attention to card file
* download pictures for dmom
* go to D ollar G eneral
* get dmil's mail
* s2s

Pictures for dmom is kinda a fun assignment. Her cousin is putting together a scrapbook of all their family -- my great-grandparents' descendants. Unfortunately, I don't think there is going to be a digital format of this, so I doubt I'll ever see it! :evil: OTOH -- maybe one of this cousin's nephews or someone will scan the finished product and send us all copies? I only have to get printouts of our family -- dmom, ddad, dbro, dh & me, ds, ddil, & dgs.

(((Twins))) Reading about your experience w/dmom's doctor's appts makes me feel sooo much better about MY worries. (I'm sorry, to use your misfortune to improve my feelings, but it does help.) My mom & I get along sooo well. I just have this unreasonable travel/social anxiety that feels me with dread if I know in advance about some "social" engagement looming ahead... and dmom has already sorta put me on "hold" that I might be needed to take her to the foot doctor -- a couple hours' away -- IF ddad is unable to go with her.
As I've mentioned before, stuff like this is one reason I fear retirement!
BUT... I keep telling myself...
:idea: dparents have NOT needed me AT ALL this summer; it is unlikely anything will change much in the future...
:idea: and IF their needs change drastically, well, working or not, I WOULD want to be available for them if they needed me.
:idea: and even if I DO have some anxiety pre-trip/appt, I know we will get along fine & dmom & I will have a good time, really, whatever we're doing.
:idea: I am even telling myself that should the time arrive that ddad needs me, when dmom might be unavailable... well... maybe that is the Lord's way of giving ddad & me some time to -- not really mend fences, b/c it's not that they need mending so much... just that our fences seem so HIGH, to me. Maybe ddad & I just need to open some gates?
Hmmm...
Anyway -- MT & Indiana, you should both be proud of me -- I am REALLY trying to tell myself GOOD things, b/c you have both told me that my mind will believe whatever I tell it! ;)

(((BIG HUGS, INDIANA)))) I sooo hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Have a great time at the wedding, Dee!
I understand about passing on the JC tribute show.
You know, a dfriend is always sorta surprised that I don't care so much for a sorta-local/regional Elvis impersonator who is sooo highly acclaimed and always has sold-out shows. I just figure, well, he's NOT Elvis... and I did get to see the real thing once... so why spend $$$ on the fake thing?
I might like to see the show that Elvis' band does w/the screens showing Elvis in concert. The show has been on PBS occasionally. It IS pretty impressive, I think, b/c they tie the old footage together SEAMLESSLY w/them playing the same songs live. I always think how sad it must be for them, though, to be playing those songs... and looking at that empty spot @ center stage.

Waving to helia & Harriet... the village is pretty quiet today, isn't it?

Hope y'all have a good day!
Tomorrow is another day.

Back from the wedding & on to the reception shortly. This couple was an older couple -he nearly died about 2 years ago and they've been 'seeing' each other for several years. They were all crying at the start of the wedding. All the men had on their dress fire uniforms. Looked very snazzy!

Getting very dark out but it shows no rain on the radar.

Felt bad for DS-A & ddil. He called us on way to wedding to see what we were doing. He was trying to find someone they had confidence in to watch dgs. He did come to the wedding & said ddil was upset because she had nothing to wear (not yet) and didn't want to leave dgs yet. Understand on all counts.

DH has gone to see if anything is needed of him before big dinner & concert tonight. Evidently, because he left about 20 minutes ago.

It's so disconcerting to have Kathryn so low and dIndiana too. I'm amazed you're getting anything done at all, Kathryn! So glad you don't have a trip or cruise planned for this time slot!

Dee You know moms only get sick when there is time for them to get sick!

Although this does have me rethinking our January cruise. But at this point we are still waitlisted. I'll be diagnosed before the final payment date (first of Sept.) or I'll know that diagnosis is a long time coming and make sure I don't drop the $$$ on that. Of course, now I've got a pre-existing condition to add to the list.

I'm up and making my dinner now because I'm hungry. Go with the flow at this point. It kind of feels good to be hungry and looking forward to food. My music friend was amazed that the first meal I had a craving for after being sick was a hamburger. I figure I needed the protein and iron boost so didn't question the craving. Tonight it is frozen lasagne - hmmmm more beef.

Managed to stay up long enough to heat up my dinner (12 minutes) and eat it (15 minutes) but ended up back in bed again. I'll go down later and see if I'm up to washing up the few dishes of the day, or at least loading the dishwasher. Given my undiagnosed contagion level, perhaps we should stick with using the dishwasher.

Yesterday, I threw caution to the wind and ran the washer, dryer and dishwasher during the expensive electricity times. I decided that I was strong enough to run things then and so should not worry about the extra 50 cents of electricity (or however much it might be.)

Sunny,
I've been using myfitnesspal since the beginning of this week and have lost 3.4lbs I find that I am measuring everything I am putting in my mouth. Thought of joining weight watchers but decided to save my money since I DO know the correct way to eat. Once I reach my first 10 lb goal I think I will treat myself to something special.

I haven't done much today. The dust is starting to collect but I think I can hold Laurance and the camels off until tomorrow :D house is in good order, been taking care of it on a daily basis. Sweetie and I are waiting to hear if our friends will be joining us for dinner. Nothing special...if they join us I will just add more to the pot and bring the dust cloth out while I cook.

I had a delightful day yesterday... Don't laugh, but I went to the library. I picked up 7 books to read. I started going to the library when I was eight. It was very near my school. The first book I remember readine was little house in the big woods...part of the little house on the prairie series. I enjoyed it so much that the next time I went to get a book, I went right back to the same spot on the shelve where I found the first one. I figured it must be a good place for good books. Found the next book in the series and my passion began. I was only in 3rd grade and didn't know what an author was or how the library was set up.

When I went to check out my books yesterday I knew my card needed to be updated. The gal behind the desk looked at my account on the computer. She looked at the information and said oh my it has been a while since you've been here. Hadn't checked a book out in 4 years :o I told her I had just recently retired. She said I bet you were a teacher...we see. This alot around here.

I got the kitchen cleaned up while waiting for the service to be livestreamed. Also got the plants watered (overdue since Monday, will skip this upcoming Monday.) Crushed the cans for recycle.

The floor needs sweeping, that may or may not get done after.

I'm singing along with the anthems. I can see the people in the front row and a few in the second of the choir but can't see dh because he's in the last row. Can't actually hear him either (I always could in practice but of course that's because he was 2 rows behind me.)

Knowing how I feel, I'm relieved I'm not there. No regrets at all.

I did end up getting the kitchen floor swept. I also shredded everything in the to-shred pile and found 1/2 the kitchen table.

I'm upstairs now, having brushed my teeth and got ready for bed.

I forgot to bring up the sheets from the dryer to fold and put away. That gives me a project for tomorrow!

Think you got more done (sick) than I got done (well), Kathryn. :? We went to the wedding and then dh had to help at the concert at the camground rec hall. Took a chocolate fire engine on a stick up to dgs7 (they were favors at the wedding). Came back, read in the chair and it sucked me in. Woke up a few minutes ago and got ready for bed. Now hope I can sleep IN BED! :shock:

DH is here now getting keys to lock up. DS-R was working security tonight (Mainly because it was a paid dinner/concert and they didn't want others hanging around the outside who hadn't paid so it would be fair to those who had. Usually any concert is fair game, but this was a little different.

Rain was forecast for most of today -only got spit on a couple of times. Was windy from time to time however.
