((((Bernie DD7.1) I hope she feels better soon.

Living Room cleanse Round #4 - ceiling is done. I just ran a damp cloth over it and couldn't find anything that looked like it needed further attention. All the ceiling trim has been wiped down with damp microfiber towel. Ditto with the walls (wood paneling). I removed 23 nails from the walls where pictures used to hang. I want to look at the wall space with "fresh eyes" and not have reminders of previous picture placement. Curtains have been washed but I can't hang them up until the windows are done. Probably shouldn't have washed them until ready to hang them back up, but didn't want them laying around dirty. I consulted with DH about the refinishing floor polyurethane and he thinks I can do it. I think I saw someone do it on TV a few years ago and it didn't look THAT hard.  LO has swim lessons tonight so i won't have time to make trip to town for supplies. I'll do that tomorrow morning.

After I picked LO from school we walked the local track. One of our conversations while walking....

LO - "let me tell you something"
Me - Ok
LO - "I went to the boys bathroom at school today but they didn't have any paper towels to dry my hands"
Me - That's ok. Just shake your hands or wipe them on your pants.
LO - "I went to the girls bathroom and got some of their paper towels"
ME -       GULP! GULP! GULP!! You can't go into the girls bathroom at school.

OH Dear! I've got to immediately make some changes. LO has always gone into the womens bathroom with me since he is a baby. What to do? I can't have him standing outside the bathrooms unsupervised in Sam's/WM. I'm not comfortable letting him go into a bathroom alone surrounded by strangers. Some place have "family bathroom" but the majority of the places we go don't provide that.

OK explain to him that at school, one of the things you learn is how to use the boy's bathroom by oneself. School is a safe place where you can learn that. When you are not at school, sometimes (and more and more often as he gets older) he'll be able to use the men's room but other times, for his own safety, he'll have to come into the ladies with you.

And next time he needs towels at school, he should ask a girl to get him some because little girls are learning to use their bathroom and need to know that little boys won't be coming in.

I'm up after a 2 hour nap.

Dh has dinner in hand. He's been for the mail, biked to buy some fresh corn, and started the chicken in the oven. He'll make me pan fried potatoes to complete the meal.

H. has taken over the design and build of this project! He can't help himself so it's a larger more delux model than I had in mind.

Oh, Nancy! That sounds so familiar!

Hope your twin daughter feels better, Bernice, and that the others don't get sick. Oh well, now I see that you've actually had to go to ER! Hope this fixes it!

Lynlee, I could work on the yard every day, I think, and still see work to do.

LR cleaning - good job, OKay. I can't clean the LR area until my father allows it. This is one of our points of contention. He doesn't want me disturbing him and is determined not to give up his place across the LR couch because someone else might sit down. It has recently dawned on me to pull all the furniture out while he is at the dining table, but I do fear a spate of supervision that would cause about as much frustration!

I have vacuumed without actually pulling out much furniture today. While I was reaching with the extension over it, my ddad laid down on the couch.

Emptynester, dstepson would love doing the work you are doing. He so enjoys tidying up a "shop" area.

Too many "To Do" thoughts are swirling around in my head.

Certainly know that feeling, Dove.

OOOOPS! I plum forgot to wish Bittersweet a Happy Birthday this morning! So -Happy Birthday. Bittersweet, come out, come out, wherever you are!

Had potluck -only 11 of us there tonight. 40 last week. I made German potato salad which people raved about. He-he-he! It's only Reads with lots of real bacon bits and chopped onion (jar) thrown in and cooked slow for an hour or so in the microwave. DH, bless him, said, "Isn't that a recipe of your Mom's?" Sure. We had only 4 main dishes -my potatoes, a yellow squash saute', a cucumber salad, and a green bean (cooked) dish. The rest were desserts -which I'm happy to see I didn't even sample! :P

Took dgs7's sweatshirt up to him. He'll probably need it when dh brings him down in the morning. This is working so much better for me! DH brings him down rather than my going over there, sitting in a recliner (that badly hurts my neck) for 3 or 4 hours. I can get a lot done here this way. Brings him about 6:45. I have to get up a little earlier, but not as bad as going up there and dh is already out and about.

Talked to dsisil tonight and told her the last weekend in September would be best for us (for them to come). Of course that wasn't going to work for them. Ended up with them planning to come the weekend after Labor Day. Oh well, as I said earlier at least it'll be done and over with.

Talked to dneighbor and we're going out for dinner Wednesday night. They're leaving for FL next Wednesday. Most days she's had their grandchildren to take care of.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Felt stronger after the long nap (had rested earlier in the afternoon and late in the morning but those didn't give me any energy, just kept me from going further downhill.)

Had dinner and ate very well, 2 cobs of corn, potatoes, a raw carrot as a snack while I waited for dinner, a chicken thigh, some raspberries and two Rice Krispie squares for dessert. Dh decided to eat our desert on the front porch (I guess he enjoyed being out there while shucking the corn) so I joined him.

The front gardens are driving me nuts because they haven't been dealt with since the drought so are full of dead stuff, along with the stuff now coming up. So I asked dh to stay out and watch me in case I got weak, and I deadheaded and pulled what needed clearing out of the three of the front gardens. There's one more to do out front and then four in the back yard. But dh will have to empty the wheelbarrow for me first. The bugs were bad so I came in and watered the house plants.

I'm resting a little now and then I'll try and clean up the kitchen while dh is on his conference call. What I don't finish, he will finish for me after.

Harriet...am laughing at the visual of your dad jumping on the couch to claim it while your try to vacuum. I know you're not laughing, but from here it looks just like a 2 yr olds temper tantrum. We constantly have a conversation between all of us who went from 1-12 grade together....There's a core group of about 30 guys and gals....that we need to buy a commune together...we are the children of the 60's after all.....and live together in our old age. We joke that when memories fail us and we fade to that place seniors seem to go, that the only people we would recognize or relate to are our childhood friends. ;) We have great debates over whether we would still argue or be put out by old unresolved ying yangs that took place many years ago. The question of ol' boyfriend/girlfiend relationships comes up as well.

Oh Pooey Dee...Stop worrying about her and let her see you as you are. There's nothing wrong with you, and if she doesn't like it she can pull up her little girl pants and go home. :D We all know what a wonderful woman you are.

My ex-dh's parents use to visit us 4 times a year for a week at a time. My ex-dh was an only child and my dmil was very critical of me. The week before they showed up I would scurry around to point of exhaustion...making sure of things like all my towels were folded and stacked neatly with their edges all going the same way. Wish ya'll could see me rolling my eyes as I write this...Anyway I did this for YEARS until it finally dawned on me that they were in MY HOUSE and they needed to respect me. When we were first married my ex-dh would hide all the liquor bottles before his parents came to visit until I put my foot down and said enough is enough....His parents didn't drink, but we did on occasion and they were aware of it.

Courage Dee, courage...if she complains or gives you a hard time...give her a list of motels and tell her where to find them. It really ....hummmmmm trying to be ladylike about this...bugged me cause I did all the scurrying and my ex-dh never helped. I finally said...they're your parents and they are criticizing me. You see how upset I get before they get here, so you need to do something about it. I think he was scared of them, but he finally got the message and something was said. That and I completely stopped fussing. They had no right coming in to my house and upsetting me, even if they were my elders...after all, they were the visitors. I learned the hard way that we teach people how to treat us. Once I changed my attitude, they did too.

Bernice, hope your daughter is feeling better, glad to hear the KIC is. Okay..ok girl your burst of energy is making it hard on the rest of us humans ;) For some reason I get the vision of Rosey the Riveter, muscles and all, spinning around in your house.

I spent the day going to my exercise class...boy am I gonna be sore tomorrow....picking up footprints, swimming Willis, reading, cleaning bathrooms and running errands. Sometime during the afternoon I said to Sweetie....I just love being able to do what I want to do and not have to answer to anyone. Nor do I have someone telling me constantly that I could be going my job better. Sweetie said that he loves having me home and that the stress is finally beginning to erase off my face. With time to contemplate, I now realize that last year was much harder on me than I thought. Remember last year I taught very little but handled the behaviors of over 150 kids...many of which needed my constant one-on-one attention and interventions. I loved my kids, but boy, they could suck the energy out of me.

Off to finish some of my desk stuff...waving hi to ya'll. Tomorrow's exercising class doesn't meet until 9:45 instead of 8:30. That means I don't have to set my alarm clock to get up and do my chores before I go....ahhhhhhhh, the pleasures of retirement. Nitters........

Something is going wrong on the conference call. Dh uses headphones so I can only hear half the conversation but dh's voice is LOUD and Low and he sounds really annoyed and scary.

The kitchen is fully tidied up. I managed to stay vertical until all of it got done. I'm having my second glass of juice (cut 3:1 with water) now. It seems really hard for me to get my 8x8 in each day. And only half of it is water. But I'm managing.
