Elizabeth, you are a valuable commodity. Common sense will tell more than one potential employer that. The only reason I vote for the first one to interview is convenience. But how do I know? The second or third may be best. It's all good.

I wanted to thank Dove for sharing the Mary Jane's Farm Aug/Sept cover info. Because 3 web sites are showing the cover of the mag right now I was able to link. This site is the most interesting and even has a thank-you post from one of the authors of the articles Dove mentioned, so I decided to link to it, thinking, hey, someone might see something that interested them among this blogging lady's birding/cooking interests. He motto is "Be brave, do it anyway, be yourself." and you have to scroll down to find her other blog links. The reason I wanted to show the mag cover is that the issue is also about Glamping, which might amuse Emptynester, mamapiano and Dee. Glamping means glamorous camping and there is a charming photo of a bicycle leaning against a vintage "travel trailer" on the cover.

Mary Jane's Farm on HighPrairieFarmGirl blog

Now, have I missed Dove because of computer issues? Is that right?

From the "Oh, now I get it" department:
Weather induced migraine.
Oh, now I get it. :roll: :? :( I'm lucky I kept my head up at all.
Going to bed for the nap may have helped, but the bad dreams were for S. King (shudder) to produce into books. HRH says how do you think he gets his ideas - he goes to bed with a headache and keeps a notepad on his nightstand.

So, Sunny, I think it bypassed you to get here fast and start inside my head.

Sadie, I'm glad they got back to you and made some sense - I was starting to tap my foot!!! :| How does your finger feel?

Dd14 takes very seriously that she is to report on high school. She says she still rates high school a "10". "Psychology is fun. World History is fun. Engineering is the tough kind of fun. Music is hard work but AWESOME (emphasized, sing-songed - she looooves Dr. P, her oldest and evidently sweetest teacher EV-ER, lol). In Health/Gym I have good friends so I'm happy." Yesterday dear aunt-of-the-daily-aprons92 (my ddad's sis) called dd to hear all about school, and told her that my mother would be proud of her, and to remember she was her namesake. (snif)

Yet another educator pulled from this school for some kind of government/D.C. education job. Her Health teacher. So she will learn a new person.

One thing I notice is that she has a friend who wants to stay with her, buddy-system, while waiting to be picked up - possibly the chanciest time of day without supervision - and that's a good idea. After all, the student population alone is greater than the town population when I was her age. Totally selfish on my part is this thought - the friend has blonde-blonde hair, long and thick and is easy to spot 50 yards away beyond a long line of cars, so I know where my child is several minutes ahead of reaching her. :oops: (I know - how shallow is that.)

checking in

Finger is doing better too, Harriet. And the dog doesn't seem to be feeling the effects of eating my oatmeal plus.

Haven't got a whole lot done today due to phone calls and just bad attitude. so I'm giving myself permission to not do the bathrooms and floors. Tomorrow is another day.

Did call my Daunt in NY. Did some work on the computer and paid a bill so the day wasn't a total waste.

Going to call my dsil later. Evenings are the best time for her as the meds make her feel bad through the day.

Have a great evening all!

I'm munching grapes in an effort to stave off the munchies. Hard time of day for me in that regard. I've already indulged in some chips and a ryvita cracker spread with peanut butter. . . .

I got my above list done. B, B, and B was an absolute zoo. Traffic was bad too!! Because. .. . . "They're H-E-R-E. . . ." (In my best child Drew Barrymore voice. . ) The students, that is. At B, B, and B, I parked behind a van with NJ plates. As I walked out of the store, a van with CA(lif.) plates zoomed across my path when I was trying to cross a "road" in the parking lot. Because this store is so far from campus, I had no idea it would be so busy. However, I found a very short check out line and got out with my mattress pad in good time.

I'm enjoying hearing about dd14's days, Harriet!! I had to smile at your comment about blond hair. I have noticed in the past that it was easy for me to identify dd16 if I needed to pick her up from school, exactly b/c of her long blond curly hair. I don't think it is quite white blond (all 3 of my kids were white blond as tots; dd14 is the darkest toned of the 3) but it is a very light blond, the lightest of my 3. It is nice that dd14 and dd16 will have each other as they go to school and come home from school. Maybe they'll bump into each other during their schooldays too!

With dd16 driving now, I'm hoping not to be picking up the girls too much. Dd16 is done at 2:30, but dd14 is taking an extra hour and is done at 3:30. I'm hoping dd16 will be willing to take that last hour to study in the library. Actually, dh will have the girls ride their bikes to school until the weather gets too cold. That threshold could be lower (well, higher temp) this year b/c dd14 will be transporting a wooden oboe to and from school every day. Although, ds brought his wooden clarinet to and from school in the past. . . . We'll have to figure that out. We spent more than 8X as much for the oboe as we did for the clarinet. SO, I really don't want it to be cracking or anything. Anyhow, I'll probably drive them the first day.

I just realized that the director of our music program is also a Dr., but a Dr. I. Ds didn't interact with him b/c he led some of the choirs but not the bands. Now that I'm thinking about it, both ds' clarinet teacher and dd14's oboe teacher are also Drs. in their respective instruments; dd14's teacher is an oboe professor. Maybe there is some link between music education and PhDs? Maybe that is what one does with a PhD in music?? Hmmm.....

OK, I'm going to switch laundry, gather items I've bought for ds, work on tidying up the entryway. I feel compelled to make sure ds leads in packing and shopping. I can help him. Yes, I did buy him some basic items. I talked them over with him before I went.

Dog friend Tori is coming over again tonight to stay until Saturday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HARMONY, SHERINJOY AND LUCYLEE!

Sadie - Grrrrr! :evil: I wonder sometimes why these businesses can't keep it together. And the worst is that your business suffers from it. Unbelievable.

Harriet - you are a kick. (If you look back at some of your posts you will see DD is both 13 and 14. I know, you don't want her to be 14 :lol:

I haven't seen Cowinkie on here since she reported she had the flu. Guess I will have to check with her or have Mr. Guy check with Sweetie. I don't like to hear she isn't at her best.

Checking In;

I have a plan for dinner it's thawing. We were going to grill it but h. did get called in to work mid morning. Just after we got the supplies unloaded for one more wall on the hen pen. He sort of groaned, and said "figures, just when I get it set up to get going good". So now at least I know he is enjoying working on the hen pen. He has two other projects in the line up a shelf and work station frame for the counter top we use for bbq - ing.

I've been working on laundry today.
And have a puppet going it's mostly done.
Lunch is done.
I've picked up the apples and straightened up the back yard.

I've been keeping tabs on the hurricane today a bit hoping it will relieve some drought in the middle of the country at least some good might come of it.

Had a bit of a head ache yesterday afternoon.
Oatmeal & berries for breakfast, egg, onions, carrots & peanuts for lunch, for my snack apple.

It's time to fold laundry.

The big job at h.'s work was pushed back until Thurs. as we were supposed to get some T-storms in tomorrow.

Realtor called they can come pick up their stuff I said! Yea! Free from that showing stuff.

This morning I wrote out details of Saturday's 1 minute 41 second phone call :? and gave the paper to counselor before she started her session with LO. I talked with her afterward (DH took LO to the vehicle so he couldn't hear). She said to not make LO talk to parents, but to continue to give him the opportunity if/when they call and let him respond as he will. Now we wait to see if they call or ask to see him again. It was 3 weeks between the last two times.

today's #' of how it went at school (1-10)
DGS17 = 3
DGS15 = 8
DGS6 = 10

Potatoes in the EPC. Supper will be easy to put on the table. BBQ brisket from Sam's (container). make a green salad. Pears for dessert. Less than 10 minutes of effort :D

Closet Cleanse progress report. All the coats are freshly washed and dried now. 4 coats were put into the GW bag. I have thought through the items that were stored in this closet and decided the majority of them didn't belong there. I want to use the shelf & storage area to store our suitcases and go bags. However, when I started to put things into the closet, I found out the paint isn't completely dried. Soooooo I wait another day on that effort.
I've done all the cleanse projects myself, but I've had to ask DH to help me with LO's closet. I want to add a 2nd bar to hang his clothes lower so he can reach them (instead of him climbing on something to reach his favorite clothes). DH has made the bar & hangers for me. He just left to buy the chain. YES!

I hear there's a search party looking for me ;) Norma...here I is ;)

I am on the mend. Not 100% but almost there. Tomorrow at 7 am the construction for my garage begins. It's gonna be noisy around here for a while.

The high today is 109* with the temperature "tumbling"....weather gal's words to.....wait for it........... 103 by Sat :o Gotta love their sense of humor around here.

Getting ready to meet up with my co-teacher from last year at Starbucks. Not quiet sure what I'm going to drink...love their coffee, but don't think I can handle it yet. Maybe a diet coke instead.

A very merry birthday to the three amigas. Dashing to get ready.......

:oops:

I have gone back and actually linked to what I said I would link to. :oops:

OKay, I hope dgs17 has a better day tomorrow! I know ds27 has always maintained that high school is harder on guys.

helia, that would be wonderful if your dds could mesh their schedules a little. Now that dd14 (sigh, 14 Norma, I must get used to this, huh?) is also wanting to carry a lunch "box", I too am wondering how just navigating the halls is going to work when she adds the guitar to her load every other day. This is a Taylor Baby, so smaller than some, but still close to normal guitar size.

Glad you are better, Cowinkie.

Got some time on the phone for serious talk with ds27, re: financial, future, housing, all his thoughts on how busy he is. HRH is concerned he really could "burn out" working so many hours. It wasn't all cheerful talk, but supportive, which is the important thing.

Harriet, maybe the music dept. has music lockers so dd14 (!) doesn't have to carry her guitar with her all day? That's what our kids' school has for students with instruments that don't fit in lockers. I guess she'd still have to carry it from the car to the music dept. though. . . .and that might mean extra time in the morning. . . .
