Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
It took me several tries to get here. I'm having some lunch, now that it is after 3 pm.
6x6
x 1. make banana bread - 2 loaves in the oven, due to come out in 5-10 minutes. I put some choc. chips in.
Everyone in our family loves chocolate.
x 2. Groc. store through to put away
Dh took the girls to help him at soup kitchen since he was low on help. Ds is here after borrowing a car to go get a haircut. He's heading off to robotics soon to return some items and hand off some work he's done for the team.
Other tasks completed:
x the breadmaker is going.
x talked on the phone to dh re: how to cook squash; apparently, someone had donated a whole lot of squash to the soup kitchen.
Next:
-tidy kitchen
-check on laundry
-clean up flower gardens
T - 2.75 and counting.

Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
Dough for mandel bread is in refrigerator and brownies for Rocky Rd brownies are in the oven. Will start mixing up the frosting in a minute so it can go on while brownies are hot.
Am thinking of making chili tonight - I bought ground beef and tomato soup to go in it yesterday. The ground beef I need to brown and divide and put some in the freezer for later soups or recipes anyway.

Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
I'm in bed now just before a nap.
Went with dh. In the back of my mind was dropping in on my senior friend for a hug. As we left the library, dh asked if he could take us out to lunch. I pointed out it was almost 2 so she'd have eaten but we went to Tim Horton's and I had lunch and they both had a snack. And we had a good visit. I'm glad we did that because she has a rough week next week, psoriasis doctor (she's refusing further treatment), breast biopsy and possibly a kidney stone procedure on Friday.
I got over tired so dh dropped me at home first and I pulled the laundry off the line. He picked up my excess diet gingerale and coke and we gave those to my friend. He is taking her home now.
She wants to go up to see my minister friend in November so dh will drive us up there. He's agreed to do it and we'll stop on the way home for schnitzel.

Site connection issues here too. Thought maybe the universe was telling me to keep moving!
Big day for yard work here. Cut back the ivy that threatens to overtake us. Burned several piles of wood and yard debris. It's starting to look like we care out there!
Have a roaster chicken to cook for supper.
The Sesame Street link the other day led to my spending too much time looking at "Teeny Little Super Guy" on youtube. That was my favorite segment back when kids were little. They loved misterrogers too. DD used to say "What a nice man!"

Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
Thanks for the ty, I've been in the Navy Reserves for over 22 yrs now. I joined the reserves rather than active duty and have regretted it (it is VERY HARD to go from reserves to active duty), so when DS19 told me he wanted to join I have pushed him to go Active for at least 4 yrs. He will be shipping out for boot camp soon we hope... having trouble with getting the Marines (he talked to them 1st) to release him so that he can go Navy. Military breeds Military as they say, I was an Army Brat who grew up hearing stories from my DGpa about the Merchant Marines during WWII so I joined the Navy. Plus the best looking uniforms were the Navy or the Marines and since the Navy is the medical side for the Marines (a dept of the Navy) I went Navy.
Now I'm wiped out... gonna head to bed early.
Oh ya I got my Flu Shot today too.

Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
x banana bread out of the oven; plate for ds ready. Plate to share tonight (if needed) ready. 1/2 loaf for our family for later, wrapped and put away.
x casserole made and in the oven
x pots and pans washed; counters wiped down.
/ a little pick up has been done; not much to do. Dgirls are vacuuming, which is nice.
I'm going to check on the bathroom and then set out plates, etc.
Yardwork did not get done today.
Maybe tomorrow or Monday.
I have done a little thinking and reading re: my teaching on Thursday.
15 minutes! I'd better go. . .

I had trouble for several hours getting to this site too. Hum.....I wonder if GoDaddy servers took another hit?
I was able to cat nap while watching a gardening show. Got up refreshed and ready to go for another 7 hours.
Steak is cooking on stove top. (we are still in burn ban so can't use outdoor grill)
Vegetable are almost done - squash & green beans from the garden. Mashed potatoes from the carton.
Salad is made
We will go for our Saturday night ice cream treat after supper.
I'm glad for a day at home. LO loved it. He has spent every possible moment outdoors playing.

Re: SATURDAY SIMPLICITY
I think I am coming down with my once-every-other-year-down-in-bed-sick-cold. Really achy and listless this morning. Laid down for a nap around noon and was cold. Woke up coughing, which is the first clue. Throat is not sore but scratchy, hard to breathe.
Sent DH to the store for Vicks & OJ. Have Vit. C which I usually take but will double up. Have cough drops. What else do I need to do?? I have all kinds of responsibilities starting tomorrow at 1 pm. I need to nip this in the bud.
It has been a wonderful couple of days seeing old friends. Sometimes my old "nobody likes me" feelings come out - but they were put away by squeals of MMMMTTTTT!!! and really tight hugs from people we hadn't seen for quite a while. Great for the ego.
Going to go lay on the bed until DH comes back. He is also bring some deli chicken instead of going out.
