A good year to you, Twins Mom. I remember when your ds first blew the Shofar, but was thinking today that I don't know if it was for Rosh Hashanna or another occasion.

Emptynester, wow, I think he is a wonderful entertainer! He is always just so adorable and bright eyed with enthusiasm.

Oh, I see I did not get all the candles on blessedw2's cake lit. I should go back and try that... ...if I can hold my hands just right!

Harmony mentioned spiffing up her house yesterday after watching a hoarding show, and I imagine it might have been the one I recorded and watched later last evening. Might chat about that in Decluttered Home.

Well, I hear that I have a load of laundry expecting attention.

I'm a little mystified that my ddad has not gotten up yet. But I know he was up at 6:00 a.m. so maybe he didn't have a restful night. It really is very dark and rainy here, so maybe he doesn't realize it's this late.

Peeked in a couple times yesterday, meaning to post, but never quite got around to it. Harriet, the doc also has Vitamin D on the blood work as well; thanks to you, I now know why!

Dragged about yesterday. Did doze off a bit as DD was showing us the movie she made on DH's i Pad. Glad to see DD being so creative and imaginative -- however, the movie could have used some set design, editing... and an actual script. She acted it out with dolls, but her sets were all the same pink backdrop, occasionally with a prop or two, and there were long stretches where the dolls weren't even on-screen. Still, as I said, good creativity and imagination -- having two of the same doll outfit inspired her to create the villain "The Fashionista," who persuaded all the girls in school to wear the same outfit -- which turned them into zombies. Fortunately, Super Polly saved the day.

Had been hoping to see "My Neighbor Totoro" on the big screen at the Cleveland Cinematheque last night, but A) I was tired enough that I really didn't want to go out, B) DD had hockey practice, and C) dd was dragging her feet packing for her field trip today. (The fifth grade is headed on a 3-day trip to an outdoor education center.) I told dd to start packing right after we watched DD's movie; we started watching the movie, which ran just over an hour, right after the Browns game, so it must have been about 5 o'clock. But she was just. So. Slooooowww. By the time she finally had everything packed, and I'd double-checked it all, it was almost 11:00! So then I had to get her up early today so she could have a bath & wash her hair before school. Her hair has gotten so long -- almost to her waist -- and is just wavy enough that it tangles easily, so I wanted to put it in braids for the trip. We'll see how it is when she comes home -- one of her friends apparently wants to French braid her hair, and while there's no opportunity to do such in school, I guess she's hoping to do it in the cabin tonight or tomorrow night. I don't know how much time they'll have before lights out.

Wishing Twins a blessed New Year -- I thought of you the other day when they did a story on NPR about making challah.

Here's hoping helia's girls don't have lice! Thank heavens we've never had to deal with such (knock wood!), but I know there are businesses (salons?) that specialize in delousing, though I gather they're pricey.

Kathryn, your schedule sounds like mine junior year of college, when I was anemic: go to class, nap; go to class, go to lunch, nap; go to class, nap; go to class, have dinner, nap; do homework, go to bed as early as possible. It's no fun dragging all the time; I hope this hepatitis clears up ASAP!

Speaking of dragging, I think I'm going to have the nap now that I didn't get yesterday.

I need to "make Monday work" for sure! DMother called that she is being released from the hospital after lunch. Whatever I get done at home must be done before then, & it's already past 10:30 am. Not looking good....... I'm a little apprehensive about her going home, but I'm trying not to anticipate what "might" happen. Yeah, easier said than done. I'm so envious of you ladies who seem to be early risers. Hmmm, maybe if I went to bed earlier, my mornings would be more productive. Ya think????

x lol #3 in washer; #2 in dryer -- just beeped, so ready for switcharoo
x actually broke out the iron to iron the collar and top of one of dh's cotton shirts that just never lies flat. Dh doesn't really care, but I bet others notice. I ironed the cuffs of my tan caprise while I was at it; they have the same problem. I haven't ironed in probably 2 or 3 years.. . . I survived my ironing experience today!
x lunch; egg beaters bfast wrap and peach - lots of food for 2.5 WW points.
x responded to email from my dfriend B who wrote me while on break. She is an OR nurse at the children's hospital. I always enjoy hearing her cases.

Adding. . . dh said he washed dd14's bedding Saturday. We've been doing that regularly b/c of the flea issue we had earlier. For whatever reason, dd14 is the only one in the family who has got bitten by fleas. Dd16's friend slept in dd14's bed (the one in dd16's room -- it's complicated) when she slept over. SO, the bedding was already clean, and I'm hopeful that maybe the lice will pass us by. . . . .

Dh & I went to a flea market over the weekend & I found a beautiful china cake plate in one of the buildings that had antiques in it. It was way up high on a shelf, but the size & shape of it caught my eye. There was no vendor around so I asked dh if he could reach it so I could get a closer look. Other than the thick layer of dust it was covered in, it was in perfect shape. No nicks, chips or scratches, & it has a beautiful floral design on top. We found the vendor & bought it for $20.00 I'm glad it was up so high because I'm sure someone else would have bought it if they had been able to see how pretty it is. Laundry is spinning, ground turkey is thawing for dinner. Many years ago there was a recipe website called Steph's Country Kitchen & I found so many delicious recipes there, including one for Beef Stroganoff using ground beef. That's what I'm making tonight, only with ground turkey instead. I'd like to find time this afternoon to putter & plan, something I wanted to do yesterday but I ended up doing a lot of work around the house instead. I remember that Sundays were Indi's planning days, too. I'm still so sad that she is no longer here with us.

Tea is almost done. I'm off to peek into a few of the other threads. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLESSEDW2!

As an elementary school nurse, dd1 has a LOT of experience with head lice. There is a particular family that has head lice frequently. Dd1 thinks that they just treat the hair but not the home. When school was close to being out for the summer, she talked to the mom and offered to help her deal with the home infestation. The mom seemed open to the idea and said she would call her. She never did. Fast forward to the school year starting and dd1 is dealing with those same kids again and head lice. Dd1 says that if the mom ever mentions it, she will tell her she wanted to help out during the summer, when she had the time. Now she is too busy.

There is a JV football game tonight. Both cheer squads held a clinic for young girls last week and they will be performing at the halftime tonight. It is windy and very cool but I really want to go to the game to see both dgds16 and the little girls perform.

Joining you, Kally, in thinking I need to get to bed earlier & get more out of my mornings! (Pleased to "meet" you, BTW. Glad your DM is getting out of the hospital & wishing her a quick recovery.)

Glad to know that bedding has already been washed, helia! I've read that lice are actually pretty hard to pick up since they neither fly nor even jump very far, so hopefully, you're in the clear.

Time to get a move on!

• Make time for prayer that I never did this morning
• Make the bed, since it's all mussed from my nap
• Tidy the bathroom

Ah, that's hardly anything, so let's add two and make it five:
• Get a load of wash started
• Have some lunch.

DH's school also has a JV game tonight, which he was hoping to attend, especially since he's sophomore class co-moderator, but it starts half an hour before the hockey practice he's helping to coach and on the opposite side of town. Thanks for the welcome back, Dove! It's good to be back! You and Nancy remind me that I also need to empty the dishwasher -- forgot to start it last night, and the girls ate their morning cereal out of Tupperware -- and figure out dinner. Well, that will have to happen after lunch.

Home from first trip of the day to town. Extremely DPC and emails sent.

Stopped on the way home and bought items on my list. With an addition that caught my eye and I was intrigued enough to bring it home. It is a protein powder for coffee lovers. It is called Fit Frappe'. I need a pick-me-up in the afternoon so I thought I would give it a try.

Next up ....putting groceries away and getting lunch onto the table. *POOF*
