I'm not usually here on Sundays.

Dfriend R is on his way over with some bread to go with laksa soup. It feels like a soup day, cooler. Ds should be here too! He borrowed the car to go to his hs robotics club. I guess he still hasn't passed on that bit he was working on. . . .Dfriend S will be here when she is done with her meetings.

I'm off to help dh get dinner on the table!

We are parked at a beautiful lake in Central Kansas. We can only stay here 2 days as they are going to resurface the roads. So we will move on to our next site. No problem. Our plans are made in Jell-o anyway.

We arrived about 3 hours ago, but I took a nap after setting up so I'm late getting here.

Tomorrow we will go to breakfast at a local cafe recommended by the guy in the next campsite. Then maybe we will do some exploring. We'll see. If we are tired - we will be lazy.

Good Afternoon - Evening Ladies!

Ta Da:
- Read my devotion
- Answered emails
- Put current writing materials, spiral notebooks, files, etc... which were cluttering up 1/2 of the dining room table, into a large basket, lined, with handles, on 1 opposite end of the dining room table, which isn't used- except by me NOW! I was going "insane" with the writing clutter and had to organize it so I could "think". This is much better, looks nice, is tidy and decorative, too.
- I dumped crumbs off DH's and my place mats into the sink.
- I washed DH's jeans and sweatshirt
- I read on the book for writers. It's an older book, but timeless and I'm finding I'm getting so much out of it.
- I read "Woman's Day" magazine, am disappointed how the Alaska writer's column is no longer in the magazine. She had white hair, was into canning, and country things, older, and I enjoyed reading her column so much. I'll truly miss her.
- I'm washing dark tops now, of DH's and mine.
- I printed up 2 crochet patterns.
- I printed up some on-line stationery from http://www.susanbranch.com
- I redecorated for Autumn with my large and small cornucopias.
- DH mowed and he has plastic sheets drying, to pull over his wood stacks tomorrow.





I didn't write today or write letters to friends or dump the trash, like my PODA this a.m. wished. I still have time and there is always tomorrow to plan for, too.

Was up 9 hours in total. Walked almost 4 miles in total, some of it quite fast.

Had a great time with our nephew who stayed and watched ds run past as he started. Then he went to work (volunteer stage manager for the International Animation Film Festival) and we went back to the mall where we parked, and sat for a little bit. Walked up to watch ds run off a bridge but dh got a text that made us realize we'd missed him by 5 minutes. He had been running near the 2:30 pace bunny but passed her.

Luckily, that same spot was a double hit so we had to wait for him to run the loop and come back. I high-fived him and then we rushed to the finish line where he (after running several more miles that we had walked) sprinted to the finish just 5 minutes after we got there. So I'm glad I pushed myself hard to get there.

We met up with him after and then ended up 100 m from the finish line to cheer in everyone else in the group. Turns out, ds finished first of his friends after 2:22:09. Dfs finished 30 minutes later. Both were thrilled with their finishes. Ds had figured 3 hours, and his personal goal was 2:45.

I got a shot of all his friends, and my cheering sign (which they loved) and then we drove ds home so he could take his car to the bbq after. There was no way I had the energy.

I did stop and buy a proper pedometer on the way home and then we ate something. I wasn't at all hungry but knew I should eat something because it had been 6.5 hours at that point.

Was in bed for 3 hours, sleeping 2.5 of it. I'm sore all over and still very cranky. Dh is trying to get me to stop typing so I can eat dinner. I'm not hungry but will eat some of the leftovers.

We went next door and visited with dneighbors a bit and then got a tour of their home. They are 30s, no kids, only indoor cats and the two dogs. She works full time outside the home, and he works from home - they are very neat and organized and very fit also.

We are very happy with our house, except for the great room which came out much smaller than we had imagined. Our old family room had the large couch, large chair and ottoman, and two wingback chairs with a round skirted table between them. Also coffee table and side table next to big chair, and TV on entertainment stand. Here we have the couch, chair, and ottoman and side table, TV on stand, and an armchair from our kitchen table all in the great room and it feels very crowded. We probably need to prioritize and downsize on our furniture to better suit the great room.

I need to work a couple of rounds:
-clear kitchen table
-clear kitchen counters
-straighten laundry room
-take today's newspaper out
-meds and dog meds

Just wasted an hour trying to fix the printer for DS13, ended up fixing it by gently slamming it on to the stand. Told him not to do that to "fix" it next time... let me do it.

Doesn't look like I'm going to get to the handouts for the orientees, will have to do it tomorrow.

Need to flip my bed and make it so I can sleep after I fold this lol.

Kathryn, you certainly participated in that marathon! You are gaining strength, I believe. Nice to hear you got to spend time with your nephew.

I had a minor bump-up in the church parking lot this morning but thankfully it was only bumpers and just a small impression into the other (parked) car's bumper. Of course I gave the lady all my info immediately but several church folk gathered around to point out how minor a repair would be. Anyway, out of an entire parking area full of church member's cars, I had to bump a visitor's. Sigh.

Then through the afternoon dd and I went to the funeral visitation for the somewhat distant cousin while HRH stayed with my ddad. It was only hard on us in that we know how hard it was on others we care about.

So, taken all together, this day has not been stellar. But there have been some smiles, too.

Helia, What's laksa soup? Your Ds's robotics club sounds lke fun!

I went to http://www.susanbranch.com and I printed up an Autumn-theme stationery and 1 with I think an apple crisp recipe on it. I noticed how she had bookmarks in PDF there, too, so I printed up 5 for pen pals. Anything flat that can go into an envelope, such as a calendar comic, recipes, articles from magazines, etc.. are often welcomed by pen pals because they add a bit of something extra to a letter. Like a treat.

I got to thinking about this upcoming week. After 3 Tues. appt.'s in a row, tomorrow's free, so alas, my week is, too. I got out 3 index cards. 1 is for Christmas stuff, like making a card list and Christmas gift crochet, 1 is for reading and writing, and 1 is for housework. I'm really behind in my gift crochet so I wrote down TV shows, like the news at certain times, a baseball sports show I watch, etc.. and will crochet during those shows. I also decided to enlist the use of my timer, so I'm not sitting too much and I'll try to start getting my 30-min. daily walk in, too. I put my reminders on an on-line calendar to remind me, too, so I hope these plans pan out for this week.

We worked all day on the chicken run today and we have the doors up wire on them and 2/3rds of the wire up on the whole run now. We're both sort of bummed that we did not get more done this weekend but we are making progress. It's a good thing it takes chicks three weeks to hatch is all I have to say! LOL! Hubby is turning the eggs and talking to them! Does any one know when they can hear?

SO glad for a less smokey day today!

((Harriet)) Thinking of all sorts of good things about the way the fender bender was managed and how it could have been worse in outcome and in behavior.

Nancy, I think I have missed the source of the smoke where you are. . . . .

Laksa is an Asian curry-ish soup. We discovered it in Hong Kong en route to Australia. The most similar thing we've found in the US is the Thai curry soup at Noodles and Co. Dh makes it from scratch; I tried to find the recipe he uses online to post a link for you all, but I couldn't find it. For me, it has too many ingredients that require a run to a specialty Asian grocery (we have most on hand now) and too many things to chop; I will probably never make it from scratch. Dh likes to cook complicated dishes. We add grilled bits of chicken and pour it over rice noodles. Yum!

WTG to ds, Kathryn!! Did he train for the run? Dh is doing the Detroit half marathon Oct. 21. It is kind of interesting in that the runners run over the bridge (or through a tunnel??) to Canada and back, so it is billed as an international race!! Dh's goal is 8 minute miles. He ran 10 miles before church this a.m. and averaged a little over 8 min. miles so he was happy. I'm doing the 5K, which will just be in downtown Detroit, not nearly as interesting. But not nearly as long either!! WTG to you too for all your activity today! You must be exhausted now.

OK, S and R just left. We shooed them out after S told us she is traveling for work tomorrow. They need to spend some time together, just the two of them.
