I was VERY hurt our last Christmas at our house as DD's in-laws insisted that they have their usual Christmas with them. I only was able to see her for a few hours and not for a meal. The same thing happened a few years later when we drove for 2 days from Texas to spend Christmas with the kids. This time both DD's were at the in-laws. I vowed never to spend Christmas with them again.
We have Christmas with our RV family - we have a wonderful time, spoil any grandchildren that show up and (sometimes) talk to our kids via phone or skype. It is fine - - as I have decided not to let it bother me.
We will see what happens in 2014 as it will be our 50th anniversary and I have already told them that we are flying all of them out to be with us on that Sunday. They can come on Friday and go home on Monday - but I want that Sunday!!
