WOW! I'm almost afraid to post this, but.....I sent in requests to Med Co on Tuesday for several renewals. First I'm surprised dDr faxed them in since I need to go see her and second I'm impressed that they evidently (according to their "order status" and the USPS sites) they were SHIPPED yesterday. :o (As most who have been here for any length of time, know -I have had trouble, trouble, trouble getting prescriptions taken care of for the last 2 or 3 years! Our only choice because of our insurance is to order them through here. Can't use a local pharmacy.)

Done with that round....ended up making the bed and putting the lol back into the dryer to get wrinkles out.

Need to get ready to head to work soon...going to try to empty one more box in the garage now.

I'm up and s2s. Couldn't sleep last night so took melatonin at 11:30. At 12:10, dh's phone rang (a mis-dial from California and since his phone number is San Francisco based, it was only 9:10 there and not unreasonable for someone to call.) I got to sleep some time after that and slept through until 8, got out of bed much, much, later.

I'm having breakfast now and then being productive. Have paperwork to do (including payroll withholding taxes), a bank run (to pay the taxes) and then clean out the car in case we need to trade it in tomorrow. Just realized the new car is really new (dealer said it will have about 10 miles on the odometer) so we'll have to take back roads home with it since cars that new shouldn't go on freeways.

Okay - Mice, yikes! thankfully between my inside kitty and 2 outside kitties I don't have that problem but we do have a opossum family in the walls that we just can't get rid of, after doing research I found that they are actually not disease ridden and don't destroy the house, they do keep the squirrels out which can destroy the wiring. So as long as they stay in the walls and don't come "into" the house I will leave them be. Ddog would love to get them though...

Just arranged insurance for the new car. Prius apparently don't devalue, our insurance bill to replace our 5 year old car with the new car for the 5 weeks until our regular renewal will be $6. And I can expect our bill for next year to not be much higher than it would have been had we stayed with the older car.

Errands done. WW says I'm down another 0.8 lbs. This is going slowly, but at least it is going. . . . I chatted on phone w/ dh a couple times re: my bday dinner. I need to go to the groc. store anyway, so I'll pick up everything. I have requested lamb chops ((I think you inspired me, scattered!) and potatoes! I was going to make it sweet potatoes since we had baked potatoes last night, but dh likes making mashed potatoes, so mashed white potatoes it will be. And a veggie. . . I'm changing my dessert from apple crisp to angel food cake -- b/c of the calorie count. Dh and I are going to a wedding tomorrow, and I'd like to eat a piece of wedding cake. :) Dd14 will likely be in charge of the dessert.

A.m. routine is not done yet, but I'm going to have some lunch next.

Hoping this works out, Dee!!

Your home sounds so educational and healthy for dgd, nancy. I remember my kids enjoying puzzles as tots.

Lily cornered a baby mouse earlier this week, OK. It is just part of what happens here every fall. The squeaking and running back and forth down the hallway (!) was bothering dd16, who was trying to go to sleep at the time, so dh just took the mouse outside, where it will either get eaten, freeze when it gets colder, or find its way back into our house to get killed by Lily or a trap. . . Dh also said there was a dead small squirrel in front of the garage last night, again, likely Lily's work. That is 2 chipmunks and 1 squirrel that we know of in 2 weeks.

scattered, I also took Latin in high school b/c of my interest in biological fields! I have no idea why all 3 of my kids have taken it. . They all like biology, but I'm not sure it is their first passion. And I don't think there are any MDs among my kids. . . . . I made very sure with dd14 that it was her choice, that she wasn't just doing it b/c her older brother and sister did it. --Actually, I do know one reason they all got into it. The middle school had a truly awesome Latin teacher, and the high school has one as well.

Looking forward to Kathryn's new car!!! :)
Off to lunch! And then the a.m. routine. And then the groc. store.

Helia - Congrat's on WW #!

Porches and inside of house is now decorated in fall colors.

38 minute phone visit from DMom
24 minute phone visit from DDIL
I am all caught up on their happenings. All is well. :)

Six minutes until it is time to start preparing lunch......I don't have a clue what it will be so I'd best be making some menu decisions!

Good morning! (barely, for me)

Never got productive last night, nor have I been this morning. Yesterday's card count was 14/24. Today, I did the school run -- thumping in car continues, so I've fallen in the trap of waiting & not getting anything done: I had to wait once I got home to call DB -- I didn't want to call him till 10, because I didn't know if he worked last night. (He's a firefighter.) I wanted to find out the name and workplace of his buddy who's a mechanic; I thought I knew, but I wasn't sure. Well, DB, bless him, said he would call his buddy first, a) to make sure he knew I was his sister & to take care of me well, and b) because he figured that if I could tell him the symptoms, and he could tell his buddy, his buddy might be able to make a preliminary diagnosis. So he called his buddy's shop, and he wasn't there -- his partner will have him call my DB when he gets in. So I'm waiting for a call from either DB or his friend and doing nothing but waiting! Must get doing something useful!

Car symptoms are really odd. I suspect there might be something caught in the ventilation system, but I'm not sure. I get a thumping that seems to be coming from behind the dash -- the tempo stays constant, but the details of the rhythm and pitch change. It's almost like there's a drummer back there! It started out yesterday with a loud thump, thump, thump, thump, and has done all sorts of stuff since then. It gets softer and louder; sometimes it's a thump, tha-thump, thump, tha-thump, and at one point, it even had an interesting syncopation going. The tempo doesn't reflect how fast the car is going -- it starts before the car is in motion -- even before the engine turns over. Will be very interested to find out what it is.

No place I have to go today -- unless I end up taking my car to the shop -- so I should be productive.

No need to start lunch yet -- one thing I have been doing while waiting is snack  -- so next up:
• clean up breakfast
• tidy bathroom
• start laundry
• excavate dining table

That should take me to or past next TOTH -- longer if I do get that call in the meanwhile. Will come back then and try to CUOP.

Mystery - I hope the vehicle noise is easily diagnosed and fixed.

I really really hope to find a bigger vehicle soon. The older grandboys have to sit sideways in my car because there isn't enough leg room available to sit normally.

I have been sidetracking. DDIL sent a link to the webcam at their dog daycare facility. Why do I watch their dog play? I have 2 dogs of our own......I could just look out the window at them.

OKay, I think it would be fun to watch the doggies play like that.

Lilac, is gelatto more like sherbert?

Ivy the duck show is Duck Commander, a reality series with a family who makes duck calls by hand and became millionaires doing it. They live in swampy Louisiana land and all the boys, father, uncle sport untrimmed beards and the daughter-in-laws all look like models! Very funny show.

Dee, I'm glad for once Me d co is cooperating. Maybe they got a new system. One can always hope.

Congrats on the new car, Kathryn. DD2 looked at prius cars but she must have looked at a very small one, the trunk wasn't big enough for DGSon's golf bag.

Last eve. I felt like I had a spark of energy and ambition for once and I did some sewing. But I guess I paid for the extra work this morning. Turned off the alarm, went right back to sleep and woke up 2 1/2 hours later. I spent the rest of the morning putting out fires, making phone calls, fixing the check DH gave out, refiling papers he hunted. I can't believe he didn't call me, and that was sweet, but my goodness what a mess! Nothing I couldn't fix.

So all that paperwork fixed. Yesterday's mail sorted and there is a pile of stuff to do there. I did a statement, made a new payroll file for someone new, jumped through all the hoops with yellow page ad guy on the phone (long call), called a prayer request around (I'm on our committee list). I still need breakfast and meds/vitamins. My conga will be to finish yesterday's list and clean up the sewing (dining) room.
