SIMPLE SATURDAY

Hello, villagers ~

Worked 4 more hours at the library this morning on sale books and fabrics. May or may not go tomorrow (depending on someone else because I don't have a key to the building any more), but if we don't meet tomorrow then we must on Monday because we left stuff out. Cub Scouts will need the room Monday at 6 PM and we don't want them to be blamed for our mess.

DH wanted pizza for lunch so we went to a local place.

When we got home, I called my younger sister to catch up on news and make a date for supper next weekend. We need at least 1 more family gathering before our older sister and her DH pack up their RV to head south for the winter.

DH and I thought about going to see a movie, but it's rainy and cold so we decided to stay in. He's watching TV and I'm doing some computer work while I wait for the dryer to buzz.

I'm hoping DH will be ok with canned soup for supper. I have ingredients for chili, but that feels like way too much work when we just had pizza.

Oh I just remembered that today Animal Planet channel was supposed to be doing a marathon of kittens, puppies, and other "Too Cute" baby animals. I hope I haven't missed it all.

I brought home supplies to make price stickers. I can do that in front of the TV.

OK, Harriet, I will confess that I also brought home 6 fat quarters of bright color cotton prints. But my co-volunteer gave them to me and I have an immediate use for them, as teaching materials for the December 4th meeting of my sewing group. So I consider them almost pre-decluttered! (per yesterday's note in the decluttering thread)

BookSaver, Sometimes we need to accept what's clutter to some, in order to de-clutter what we've pre-cluttered. Well, it makes sense to me. The intention to de-clutter something that's made its way into our homes, serves its purpose and eventually gets decluttered.

Harriet, I'm glad the funeral plans worked out for you, too.

MT, You sound like you made good time and had a good trip, too. Hoping your sleep won't be too bad. Once, we were at DH's cousin's home, way out in the boonies of Montana and every hour a train came by honking it's whistle and we slept rotten. I hope it's better for you tonight. Once in Idaho, our hotel was next to the railroad tracks, so we slept poorly, too.

Okay, LO gets a lot of sleep. Must be growing. I used to debone chicken and made my noodles from scratch and oh, yummy! We love chicken and dumplings, too. Oh, my MIL used to make a chicken salad with diced chicken, cut up celery and she cut grapes in half, added chopped nuts and mayo. It sure was good. Sometimes she put in cut up cashews, too. ♥

Twins' Mom, I just told DH what colleges your dd and dson are at. What's Kugel? A bread? Sounds good.

My Ta Da is:
- I prayed and wrote in my journal, but overlooked my devotion reading today, so will go back to get that done.
- I put TP in the 3 bathroom cabinets. 2 bathrooms are fair size, but the powder room, just off the utility room/garage area is teeny tiny.
- I fixed weekly medications.
- I did some replies to emails and sent a link to my BFF.
- I wrote my a.m. to do list for the day.
- I set my dawn simulator and got out a.m. clothes.
- Worked on my calendar reminders for the week upcoming.
- I took alcohol to my ear lobes and prongs on my post earrings, and put them in. Ever since I had that Cellulitis of the ear, I'm real careful to not wear earrings too long and to always clean the posts that go through the ear with alcohol. When I got Cellulitis of the ear, I did research and people get it where they pierce their eyebrows, lids, lips, and nose. I really learned something new when this happened, but the antibiotics and the warm washcloth Epsoms Salts packs sure helped a lot.

It's softly raining on and off here, with a windstorm and heavy rains due tomorrow. It's the season.

Ivy - we are used to trains and road noise as RV parks are usually were no one else wants to live. One time we stayed in a park with a train running thru it and a shipping canal on the west side and a highway on the east side. We didn't get much sleep there for sure.

It is pretty warm here - 77 on WeatherBug. I will be glad to get to our house where we have wonderful breezes and AC. No AC in the MH tonight as we don't have electric hookups.

I'm here, now!

I was online when Dee started the thread but I was peaking in from my smart phone and I haven't tried posting from it yet. I think it would be too frustrating dealing with the screen-based keyboard. Once I was out of bed, I was too busy to check in - couldn't afford to get distracted.

I got up, s2s, made the bed, emptied the dish drainer, started dinner in the crock pot, cleaned up from that (leaving the dishes in sudsy water) and ate breakfast, all in 70 minutes.

Got the second last parking spot in the church parking lot, again. Actually there were no spots left but as I was backing out, the custodian tucked me into a non-spot. I wasn't blocking anyone so accepted the location and felt like it was my lucky, lucky, day.

The seminar was ok but not life changing (I'm still embracing the one I attended last December, this one I'll forget 99% of it by next week.) One of my preaching cohort friends agreed with me that the material could have been presented in 90 minutes, or 2 x 60 minutes and we didn't need a 8 hours. The break-out group was a failure in our case because of an error that meant we had 2x as many people in our room as we should have so our 'small group was 11 people and 4 of those people didn't have places to sit. Lunch was also in the small group and was better since the error had been corrected by then so it was just 6 of us chatting.

The car continues to run very well so that's a plus. I'm experimenting with fast and slow driving and checking out how it responds. I even tried the turbo-boost button when I had to beat another car leaving a light (my lane was going to end so I had to peel away faster than him to not cut him off.)

My dinner was ready when I got home but it was only 4 so I chatted online with dh and then took a nap. Just finished eating and should get some housework done now. I also need to think of something for the pot-luck at lunch tomorrow. And I should practice the anthem a few times.

Random thoughts from today's cuop

Twins: You should have put the dog collar on the workmen so they could feel the invisible fence! Would have stopped them from cutting it!

Harriet: I'm not stopping by more yet, today was too busy. And the next four days will be busy too. I do hope to be on the treadmill for the next few days so will at least see you all in the mornings.

Helia: I'm sorry I didn't answer your question about where to go or what to eat. I live four hours away so where to eat isn't a good question to ask although I do recommend my dbil's - he's an excellent cook! As for where to go, my favourite place in Toronto (aside from places with family) is the Scarborough Bluffs beach, precisely because you don't feel like you are in Toronto when you are there. Not the best reason to recommend a place to out-of-town-visitors (but a typical Rest-of-Canada reaction to Toronto which views itself as the Centre-of-the-Universe.) Yorkville is a great neighbourhood. My dsisil just visited the Whole Foods there for the first time and ecstatic. But, again, I'm sure Whole Foods isn't special to you!

Good afternoon all. I'm enjoying a nice quiet Saturday. I'm enjoying a cup of iced tea while cuop.

We were up early 2nd day in a row. Yesterday dh had an early dr. appointment with his urologist. He got a good report and doesn't have to go back for one year. I had not slept much Thur. night so after a quick shopping trip through W-M I laid down for a nap. Ended up sleeping for 2 hours. I was still too tired to do any more than read posts.

This morning we went to one of our local church's arts and crafts fair. It's always a huge affair, this year there were about 80 tables, some indoor some outdoor, with a large variety of homemade sewing and woodworking crafts and jewelry. So many nice things, a lot more expensive than I want to pay. But I did find a few things for Christmas gifts and I bought an apron for myself and a set of 4 placemats with matching napkins and 4 napkin rings for the holiday.

Dee....I'm sorry you haven't felt well these past couple of days.
MT....you're so close to home now!
Helia....glad you had a nice time in Toronto.
Cowinkie....state and county fairs are so much fun aren't they???
Twins....hope it won't take long to get the invisible fence repaired.
OKay....hope you weather the storms without any trouble. I'm glad you were able to sort out the activities for the day.

Harriet....I'm glad the timing worked out for you and dd14 so she could meet with her girlfriend.

Had to wait till we got home today to finish daily routine, but kitchen is clean and everything is picked up, ready for our company tomorrow.

Talked to ds#3 yesterday and found out that he and has now signed the paper and raised his hand for his final enlistment!

Also talked to ds#1 last night. He and dgs8 and dgs6 are on a camp out this weekend at our district's Boy Scout Camp. This is dgs6's first time away. He was so excited.

Confess? confess? Oh, no, BookSaver you want to ANNOUNCE with great delight that you have brought glorious fat quarters of cotton into your home! (Isn't that right, Harmony, SuzLew and Sunny?) Fat quarters are without guile, pure, virtuous. They take up no room at all and do good all their days. As they dwindle down to bitsy scraps, they spark the imagination more, and like all textiles, are warmer after they are used than before.

I meant to say to helia earlier that the reason she associates Kathryn with Toronto is that Kathryn's daughter and dsonil have lived there several years.

Oh, also helia, so happy to see your dh's alma mater here now boasts a new Nobel Prize winner. Our papers are full of this news as you can imagine.

HRH and I worked outside on the chicken run all evening while the hens were let out into the yard. Poor things, they lost their outdoor "bearings" when they wanted to go back inside and the landmarks and corners of the run were different. Sammie had to lead them to their door. (Hens have terrible eyesight at dusk, I think.) We were amazed at Sammie leading, looking back, waiting, leading again until they each found the door.

ellyphant, I usually make much allowance for someone who is talkative, because I recognize it in myself. But I don't think I could overlook 7 dollars! Glad you got that straightened out!

Ivy, glad your mail delivered your awaited book. My mail brought both my cards and my stamps, so I am set for addressing envelopes and nagging HRH to sign cards!

I snoozed some this afternoon -thanks to meds I'm sure. Had a hard time getting up when dh came in around 6:30 or so. (Said "I'm DONE for the day!") I felt worse when I got up -tight congestion. Ears are itching beyond belief! Just took a couple more cold meds -not sure what they are except "multi-symptom". Going to just stay in the recliner tonight. Sure I can't handle lying down.

We've cancelled tomorrow's get-together at DS-A's. Not only am I sick but dbaby is too. I'd rather be sick any day than one of those dgks, especially one so little.

Did get dishes done today, but did no packing. Dh brought back tons of VHS tapes (Gaithers) that dVirginia had. Her nieces brought them to him today. Now I have no idea where to put them all. I suppose I could put most of them in the storage area -uh no -would be too hot up there next summer. They would be 'freezing' no matter where I store them for the winter.

The fire dept from Virginia's home time did a chicken bar-b-que today. I did eat some of that -yummy! DH said he didn't even eat up there -there were so many attending. Literally 'SRO'.

Think I'll get ready for night time and get ready to remain out here.

I have a hard time posting on my iphone too, Kathryn. Want to go to A T & T this week to have them explain what I would have for hot-spot. Then I'll cancel our TW internet for the winter and see how it goes for the next 6 months.

I'm closing it down and going to turn in. Hoping I feel a whole lot better tomorrow. (And really hoping dh doesn't 'get it' -he doesn't stop for anything and he's getting too old for that. Don't know how he does it sometimes.)

Harriet, close, it is my d(sis)il not my d(son)il who lives in Toronto. Actually, 2 of dh's sisters live there (and the other is an hour away) plus my sister's spouse (gay couple so also dsisil) lives there so basically all my sisters-in-law live in Toronto. Dd and dsil live in Vancouver on the Pacific coast.

I've finally solved the last of the Times of India sudokus that I cut out to do on the plane (32 months ago!) They were really hard - not one of them could be solved without guess work and then working back if the guess is wrong. Give you an idea of how much more mathematical and analytical that paper's audience is compared to a traditional North American audience. My paper's sudokus are rated from easy to Evil and these were far beyond the Evil in difficulty.

I've also cleared all the newspapers off the kitchen table and some of the regular papers too. Processed the mail and see the insurance company wants $976 to insure the new car for a month. She told me $6 on the phone so I'm assuming an error (most likely that the expiry date for the policy is Nov 2013, not 2012 as it says.) That is Monday's chore.

As for tomorrow's pot luck, I'm leaning towards Bisquick tea biscuits although I suppose I could did through my mom's cookbook and see if I can find her tea biscuit recipe and make them from scratch. But only if they use butter, I don't have margarine or shortening in the house.

Came to the PC to finish conversation with DGS15. We have been txting back-n-forth about online clothes shopping choices. I think we have 3 light weight zip up jackets (hoodies) found but I wanted to confirm the colors he wants before placing order.

LO is growing fast. Too fast. But how do you slow him down?? They did blood work and everything came back normal. I suspect the amount of sleep he needs is because of his fast growth. Every time the doctor measures LO there isn't a place on the growth chart to mark him.....he is off the growth chart so they just estimate up in the space above the chart and put a dot there. I think I remember them saying he was 175% bigger than normal size for his age. I just know he is 4 years old and wearing size 8 clothes.

Time to do bedtime routine. *POOF*
