H. & I sort of took turns working on the yard and got it all cleaned up.
And then then did the carport. Grands are here now dinner is done, and we've made up their.

Housekeeping tips from my dad #1: When sweeping the floor, take care of the corners, the centre takes care of itself.

Hepatitis housekeeping tip#1: If you leave your floor mopping long enough, a thin layer of crud is trapped on the sticky bits so it becomes less sticky. I recommend this tip be combined with tip #2.

Hepatitis housekeeping tip #2: Wear shoes in the house so you can't feel the crumbs on the kitchen floor.

I spent 30 minutes and got the floors damp mopped. The kitchen should have been mopped about 8 days ago but I wanted to wait until after the Thanksgiving dinner since I knew the floor would end up greasy after that. (I'm not a precise, splash free, cook.) Since then, occasionally wiping the stickiness areas with a cloth bought me some time. But it was definitely past due so now it is done. Canada suffers from a TV wasteland on Saturday night when there is an NHL strike so right now one channel is broadcasting 'classic' hockey games from years past and the other channel is broadcasting 'classic' Big Bang Theory episodes. So I spent time watching/listening to those and getting the floors washed, dishes done up, table wiped down and a few things tidied up.

Sigh. I got Vancouver and Toronto mixed up! I hate to perpetuate the stereotype of U.S.ians having little idea of Canadian geography. Anyway, helia, Toronto is a place Kathryn travels to see her kin.

HRH and I watched BBC programing together this evening. Very quiet evening.

He says it is always so strange in the house with dd away. Quite true.

I need to get this address and directions straight so I will be efficient in picking the girls up in the morning.

Yes, Facebook has many many uses. DD1 and I are leaving messages to each other, hers are about her trip, and mine are what her toddler is eating/doing.

Isn't it amazing we come into this world taking naps. Then for a while we don't do naps. Finally, we end up doing naps again. I love my naps!

Dee, do you think it is time for you to see a doctor?

We took DGD to a movie at church tonight. The front lawn was covered with parents and grandparents with kids, all in chairs or on blankets. They had a big projection screen of some sort set up in the corner and projected the movie ( The L ora x) through the back of it somehow. They had a couple speakers set up on big tall stands. Popcorn and lemonade. It was so much fun. Like a drive-in without the cars!

DGD was scared at first and clung to me and wouldn't watch but she was listening, and I would say things to her like ooh bear, oooh taking fish and when I said aw look at the pretty flowers she popped her head up and began looking. Then I think she had fun.

I wonder how bad my house will look by the time she and the dog go home?

Harriet, I had no idea of the new nobel prize winner! I don't think dh does either! --And I had no idea that you remember dh's first alma mater! Wow! Yes, his introduction to this country was through southern culture. . . if NC is considered southern. I think it is. . Anyhow, dh says he had the dickens of a time communicating and understanding English when he first got here since his own English was decent but not totally fluent and the southern accent threw him off.

Ah, OK, I guess Kathryn doesn't live so close to Toronto. I thought she lived fairly close to an international airport, but maybe that is another city. . . Yes, there were some, how shall I say it. . . very expensive people in Toronto. Some of the stores we saw were very high end. Dh and I were just happy to play tourists for the day. We were also close to the University so that meant there were some student-y types around too.

At the close of simple Saturday, I find that I only read, wrote, walked 1/2 hour and did toilets, tidied the eating bar. I didn't clean bathroom or kitchen sinks or counters, but there is always Sunday or Monday.

My Ta Da for tonight is:

1- I wrote a list of items out for an appt. upcoming and wrote the check, too.
2- I made sure I had a copy of my lab results for a different doctor I'll see later this week and I do.
3- I planned out our dinner.
4- I called 9-yr-old grson to wish him a Happy B-day and to chat.
5- I put leftovers from dinner away.
6- I read and purged a magazine.
7- I worked on my calendar for the remainder of October on into November.

Ddil is having morning sickness, Dson said they have baby girl names in mind, but won't name her until she's born in early March. They want to see her first, before matching a name to what she looks like and what her mannerisms are. We're getting excited.

Dee, I hope you'll feel better soon.

Harriet, I'm glad your mail brought your cards and stamps. I hope HRH will sign cards. My DH leaves that to me, saying I'm better at that stuff than he is.

I didn't nap today, and since I walked, I hope I won't be laying awake until 2 a.m. like last night!
