I was almost ready to head out to run errands, but DH got up and wanted to go out to lunch right away. That was nice and relaxing. We took yesterday's and today's newspapers to the local diner and on a weekday they were busy but not as crazy as they are on Saturdays. No guilt about taking up a booth for a leisurely lunch.

Then I came home to more phone calls & Emails that needed immediate attention.

Finally made it to the bank and city hall. Well, that auditor business was a whole lot of fussin' for nothin' because they aren't even in town this week. The city clerk gave me an Email address, now I can write and make an appointment directly instead of through 2 or 3 intermediaries.

Came home to a couple more phone calls that needed replies (!) and know that's not the end of it.

But DH does still want to go to a movie which starts at 4:55. We had such a large lunch that we won't have any problem waiting until after the movie for supper.

In the meantime, I'm trying to speed through a few more tasks. No nap for me today. :( The calico cat is disgruntled, I have totally messed up her schedule.

Ok, Ivy, how can we find your recipe(s) on Deb Macomber's site?

I've been puttering for about an hour and managed to get the RV looking fairly good again. Took care of the 2 loads of laundry and that feels good. Still have to remake the bed -but will wait for dh (at his request). I've cut the desk work into several smaller chunks and will whittle away at that while I watch TV this evening.

Dawned on me I need to check our cell phone account -dh does not have texting because he rarely used it. Was cheaper to pay per text/photo than to subscribe. HOWEVER! The fire department has gone 'digital' or something and all calls go to their pagers as well as to their phones. It dings and I think shows as a
message -definitely have to check that out before we have a gigantic bill! :shock:

I have made four DPCs! Also updated my calendar, made list for tonight, added timer to the grocery list. Tonight I need to call one of the people I went on the cruise with. I am afraid that she has found the next cruise we want (Hawaii), but with my job situation, I will not be able to commit. Hopefully, that is not the case.

Errands with dd after school went well. Fast food swing for starving child * , Vitamin store, music store (where they will restring a guitar), grocery. HRH helped bring in the groceries.

* Poor dd forgot her lunch money this a.m. She was a new person after a chicken sandwich.

I also made a DPC, which was a procrastination victory.

Dinner tonight is fajitas, both chicken and beef, with green pepper, shredded cheese and onion, yum.

Elizabeth, too bad all our yarn crafters here can't just get together to look at a project start and make suggestions! mamapiano really likes Ravelry, too, I believe.

Oh, were we talking about BACON ? ;) I saw a cute poem on "your ecards":

Roses are red.
Bacon is red.
Poems are hard....
Bacon!

YEAH!!! 1/2 of my birthday gift from DH was just delivered. There was a mix up at the lumber yard and they just brought 1 of the pallets of blocks with them. They will deliver the other pallet load tomorrow. I might be the only female in the world who asks for concrete blocks for her birthday. :lol:

The highway next to MPB has been closed for 3 days with a detour going around us. They have a big crew working long hours replacing/rebuilding the RR crossing. The RR company called today and said they ordered too much asphalt. Did we want them to dump it at MPB and give us a "free" extra driveway? SURE!! I suspect this "free" gift won't make up for the loss of business at MPB the last 3 days, but it sure feels like a silver lining in a cloud. :)

EEK! Just picked up my phone to check something and the screen was black. Got it to come on only to show a thin red line on the battery and couldn't even get it to take a charge. I see a trip to A T & T in my morning's future. Have no idea what could have happened to it. It's worked fine ever since I got it in February. Anyone have this happen?

EDIT: 7:26pm -had phone charging and it finally showed 6% and is now up to 44%. Will have to watch it tomorrow to see if the battery runs down quickly. I won't be happy if the battery is shot after only 8 months. I didn't have anything running -that I know of. We'll see.

I left work early today for vet appt for dMacs - he is crazy drinking water again so we go back to the original premise from last winter that he has canine Cushings diseases, and spin a theory that he was super sensitive to the meds and ended up over medicated. So more tests for him tomorrow...New vet is super entertaining and talkative about solving the diagnosis mystery and we were there a long time. :shock:

Someone asked earlier what tax return I finished for myself and it's our 1040 for 2011 on final extension. It went off through cyberspace to the IRS this morning, tho. Client returns likewise. I am working tomorrow and then will take off on Thursday to give myself some down time.

Pizza just arrived - as soon as I finish eating I need to get ddogs out for their walk. DMacs does look good for a dog who's had two knee surgeries!

OKay, I wouldn't rain on your good news for anything, but doesn't the town or whatever entity have to be consulted before a second driveway is put in to a business? I guess in this case you could say the RR folks did it on the spur of the moment. Our planning board members here would be miffed, though. They have to know where traffic might slow and whether emerging traffic would be a problem, whether adjacent property owners or utility right-of-way people are okay with it, all that stuff, so they insist on being told in advance on driveways. I covered so many meetings with arguments over new driveways.

The fajitas were delish but I have tummy troubles over something previous. Sigh. HRH is lecturing me on eating potentially out-of-date food, but I didn't think I did? Yesterday was so long ago!

We sent our 2011 taxes off today too. Last spring was just too chaotic -- if y'all remember. That was probably the busiest most stressful spring I've had for years, if not ever. . . . Neither dh nor I want to spend the time on taxes, so we have kept our CPA from when we lived in TX. He has handed us off to a new person at his firm, a woman, and she seems fine too.

I actually over-translated for Hebrew this week. Class was interesting, as always. I'm glad I went; a woman talked to me afterward for a very long time. . .. . I like her, but she is a big talker, if you know the type.

Dd14 and I have eaten. The kitchen is cleaned up; I'm not sure if I should save food for dd17 who is off with some of our church youth tutoring kids at our sister church in Detroit (inner city). Dh is still in Berkeley. It is a funding review, and he doesn't need to make a presentation. I think he does have to lead a panel tomorrow.

I'm working on my teaching, just translated a key phrase from the Hebrew. It's not the same in my English Bible. . . . I don't know if I have time to translate the whole passage, but I don't think it matters as much as this phrase.

I hope your tummy feels better, harriet. I LOVE fajitas!

Speaking of out-of-date food, how long will salsa keep in the refrigerator after it has been opened?

Hope you feel better soon, Harriet!

I need to s/s the kitchen and bathrooms.
I need to do a lot of things...
[x] exercise (15 minutes walk away the pounds)
[x] type church minutes * HOORAY FOR THAT!!!
[x] call dsisil
-- Talked to dniece; left message w/her for dsisil.
-- Talked to dsisil, who returned my call... made plans for joint bday dinner Tuesday...
[x] call dson... confirmed Tuesday plans...
[x] finish laundry
[ ] s/s the kitchen and bathrooms
[ ] grade papers
[ ] iron dh's shorts (jeans/khakis -- do not want to pay someone to iron a pair of shorts! However, as you might suspect, one pair has multiplied into six pairs, I think, at this point.)

I am exhausted. So far today, I have -- besides teaching school --
* been to Wmart w/dh
* been to ironing lady
* made ds mad re: thank you notes
(Just asked if he/they wanted to work on them tonight, and "reminded" him we have GOT to get those done and that we SAID we WOULD work on them together... sigh... I know he and ddil have no time at all and that they are exhausted, too, but for goodness sake, SOMETIME within 4 months, looks like this could have been DONE.)
And I know... I can hear y'all saying, LET IT GO... LET IT GO... but like I told y'all before, I've got dh and my dmil saying I should just write them myself! And even MY dmom says it really does need to get DONE. * sigh *
* ate supper
* took a nap
* read the paper

DH is also grumbling b/c
1 -- ds doesn't want to celebrate his birthday until NEXT week (b/c of ddil's work schedule) and
2 -- if we have to keep dgs all night next Friday night, dh "just doesn't know how we will make it to the ballgame Saturday..." etc, etc.
I keep thinking about the possibility of ddil going back to school PLUS continuing to work, which she will almost certainly have to do, and IF she has to work on weekends, who will keep dgs, b/c for 12+ weekends of the year, dh definitely reserves my time... and yes, I can hear y'all saying, QUIT BORROWING TROUBLE, LUCY... * whew * deep breath *

I think dmom got her taxes in today, too, helia.

(((dMacs))) (((Twins)))

(((Dee))) for phone troubles. I want an iPhone, but I have heard they have very short battery lives. Or maybe just need charging often -- not that the battery just dies, permanently. Still, I have a very long charge w/my flip phone. I think I'm just going to keep it until it completely dies. (The vibrating mode has already died on it.)

LOL @ OKay & her concrete blocks... isn't that what Marilyn sang about? Concrete is a girl's best friend? Nah... I don't think that was it... ;)

WTG, Elizabeth, on the phone calls!

You, too, BookSaver!

I am calling dsisil right now -- at dh's reminder...

Ivy, I have green cards (my "seasonal" color) w/zone duties on them. Must admit I don't really USE them that much, but I do faithfully look at one per week.

Mayhem Monday is RIGHT. :P
