I am stiff and sore from yesterday's walk and moving "stuff". I was able to get the house fridge wiped out and refilled form the MH. The MH fridge was defrosted and wiped out.
Dirty laundry was moved from the MH to the house and one load done. 3 more loads to go (includes bedding and towels that stay in the MH) so that will take 3 more days.
Moved the day bed from the craft room to the living room and now have room to set up my sewing machine in the craft room and more seating in the living room.
Also vacuumed and dusted the house.
Today's PODA

I like your hair, helia. (Guess I have blonde envy.) I was hoping to get up your way this hockey season, but DD was cut from that team. The camp we were at wasn't really DH's -- he does inspections of the high ropes course for Scout camps over a fairly large area and gets assigned about 3/yr -- this year's were in Zanesville, somewhere in W. Va. (he did those both in one day, just making a long trip down 77), and somewhere not far from Cleveland -- the next council over, I think.
Sorry yesterday's unexpecteds have spilled over into today, Dee. Hope there's good news on the car front, and they finally get your DH's plate right.
Hope you feel better soon, MT -- about how much longer till you're settled, do you think?
Got the blinds up and lights off -- except in the dining room where I'm sitting; with the clouds, it's still a bit dim. Clouds do look a bit thinner to the west, though, so there's hope. My "dinner preparation" thus far has consisted of making a grocery list; I've decided it's going to be red beans & rice -- DH likes it, and I there'll be time to make it this evening. Yesterday's roast will become tomorrow's shredded beef sandwiches (hmm... why is it "shredded beef" but "pulled pork"?) in the crock, so we'll be able to get out in time for tomorrow night's Catholic High School Night. DD is in 7th grade, so it's time to start looking at high schools. She needs to have her mind made up by about this time next year, not so much for the schools' sake -- they'll accept applications till about the end of the year, I think (acceptances go out in late January, if I remember correctly) -- as for ours; scholarship/financial aid applications need to be in by mid-November, and scholarship exams need to be taken before then. I'm leaning towards one of the all-girls' HSs on the far side of town; because it's just off the highway, it's about the same drive time as the one on this side of town, and it's just an exit or two from the grade school the girls are currently attending. I think it offers a wider selection of classes than the one on this side of town, too, though I'm not 100% certain of that. Oh, drat -- I just realized I was planning to take the girls to a field hockey game there after school today; they won't really have the opportunity to continue ice hockey in high school, and I want to get DD thinking about field hockey as an alternative. Not that our kids have any hope of really being "jocks," but I do want them to keep physically active. If I take them, I'm not sure if I'll have time to get the red beans & rice done, but it's the end of the season, so I won't have another opportunity to take them till next year.
Fielded/made phone calls -- dfriend wants me to pick up her youngest from preschool next Monday, as she won't be back from a PT appointment in time. Wasn't sure if I could, because next week is book fair at the old school, and I couldn't remember which days I promised to work, so I needed to call & check on that & get back to friend. It all works out, but it's surprising the detailed pickup procedures -- have to key in my friend's phone # to enter, must show ID (that part doesn't shock me, as I'm not her regular pickup person), must sign the child out.
Breakfast is cleaned up; bathroom is tidied. I got the bed made earlier this morning. Dining table is excavated. Wash was started -- it's now ready to flip, so that will be next. Cards? 8 (7) of 27 (26) -- there's that one I didn't need today.
I'm impressed; elderly man up the street is mowing his lawn with a reel mower. I should hope I'm that fit when I'm his age!

Wash flipped; couch & coffee table tidied -- was so quick today, I was able to take the extra couple of minutes to polish the tabletop. Tidied the playroom a smidge -- dd still has work to do in there today, though I don't know when she'll get it done -- in addition to her math assignment for tomorrow, she has two overdue ones! Hmm... that makes the field hockey a bad idea, although maybe I can get DH to pick up dd, and I could still take DD. Just left voice mail message for him -- I thought this was his free period; we went to p/t conferences this time on Thurs. Hmm... will try leaving a message in the department, I think.
Am forgoing walk for today -- I took something for pain, but the ankles are still hurting (the bum one worse, of course, but the other one is, too). Did decluttering & swept the living room & playroom. Soup is cooked -- now I just need it to cool enough to eat!
Debating whether to skip field hockey entirely -- since I'll be at school already, I should be near the front of the car line; that will give us a boatload of time to kill between 3:15 dismissal and 4:00 game. I could tuck grocery run into there, but then groceries wouldn't be home for DH to start dinner while DD and I were at game. Nah, I think we'll skip the game. We can go see one next year, and DD will still have plenty of time to think about it.
So, when do I go to the grocery store, and which do I go to? I need to leave at 1:30 to get to the appointment; I want to print out my unfinished e-mail before then, so I at least have notes for Dr. R. I absolutely must get gas before heading across town; I don't think I have enough in the van to get there. I could go to grocery store next 'burb east -- usual company, but not usual location. It's the one that has the gas station at its location. If I buy the food there, it will count towards discount on gas. But it's an extra :10-:15 drive, and that store is laid out hideously. I could go to store nearest home -- not my usual chain. (Other chain, though further, has child care -- though both girls have aged out of that now -- and a better selection.) It does have everything on my list, I think. The layout is better, so it should be quicker to get out -- unless they don't have enough cashiers open (unlike the other, it has no self-serve lanes). Purchases would not count toward gas discount, and I would end up going to a station where I'd pay full price, but more along my way. Hmm... guess it depends on how much time I have once I finish lunch (soup is cool now, and I'm eating) & print out notes.

Last year's Iowa scores, which we just got (test version administered was brand-new, and the Iowa people had not yet compiled norms for grading! Again, aaargh! ), have been copied -- one of each girl's for school office and a second of dd's to take to conference. Less than 1 hour before I have to leave -- will definitely be going to the close store & gas station!

Okay--The zoo sounds like fun. My DS always acted up when I would go on field trips. He was jealous of sharing my attention with the other kids. (So I didn't go very often.)

I'm finishing up at Presbytery now. Got the bookshelves emptied, moved and then reloaded according to category. Then the head brought me a box of books to add (she had originally decided to keep them in her office!) Luckily there's room. I also moved a small desk into position for myself and vacuumed and dusted.
Finally I moved all the old stacks into a neat row, all up against each other so they take up a minimal amount of space. Everyone is commenting on how much better it looks now.
Our issue is that all the remaining bookcases and desks are to be disposed of and we have no use for the remaining space. So we are sitting around, brainstorming. The space is large 25' x 40' so ideas like Friday night pub for ministers to drink out of the sight of their teatotaling parishoners, exercise equipment to burn off coffee hour treats and a pottery studio are all being put out there!
The only need I see is to move the receptionist further from the door because the small area in front of her desk becomes a chatting place for people arriving and leaving. If she's not part of the conversation, it is distracting for her. But electrical in the space is not very mobile so moving her desk out 10' wouldn't really be possible.
Not my problem though. I did suggest they decide exactly what they want, not thinking of electrical and phone and then have the building people tell us what we can do, rather than limiting our thinking to begin with.
I'm off fo my lunch now and a Costco run, then home to nap.

Have rough outline written - w/out an ending, currently. Dh called briefly btwn. sessions.
I have made a menu plan - fun cooking week for me: I'll do oven-fried chicken tenders and baked potatoes for the girls tonight (I'll skip and do a lean cuisine for myself); tomorrow, we'll have tacoes. Thursday needs to be a crockpot b/c p/t conferences are at 5:30 arena style. It is new for the school to do arena style conferences first, which makes things a bit less convenient for us. Dh and I may want to talk to a couple teachers -- not 100% sure of this and if so, which ones. Likely the band director since dd14 would like to hop to the next band next year. Perhaps dd17's art teacher since dd17 seems to be holding art school as a fairly serious option for the future. We certainly do not need to talk to all of the girls' teachers. . . Arena style means we stand in line in the gym? to talk to a teacher and don't know how long that will take and therefore don't know when we'll be back home. I'm going to try to have our Thursday dinner crew over that night too. So, I guess Mystery inspired me and I'll do pulled pork in the crockpot for sandwiches and salad Thursday night. Seems like we should have something else too. We're going to celebrate dd17's bday this Friday, but she hasn't told me yet what she wants to eat. Saturday, we'll probably be in Detroit for dinner but will need to eat light b/c the race is the next morning. Sunday is either the rest of the chicken noodle soup, which I froze, or possibly a small group get together. Not sure yet. . .

I don't really like politics, but I think that is b/c the people I have historically known who like and talk about politics are so strongly uni-directional, sometimes so angry, and seem unable to consider things from any other point of view other than their own, that it really frustrates me. (I don't think any of you here would be like that.
) I DO enjoy talking about it with some friends who are thoughtful (as in full of thoughts) and able to see value in, or at least understand, various points of view. I have enjoyed listening to some discussions on NPR in the past, sometimes they air BBC reports; they seem level-headed and factual and able to consider pros and cons both. Maybe I've been talking to the wrong people all these years! LOL!
I made my groc. list earlier so I'm going to get that done so I can get in a jog before I take dd14 to her oboe lesson. Is it really almost 2?
