Wash flipped. Had my walk -- mums are going gangbusters, of course; impatiens and petunias blooming quite well; roses hanging in there, but not at full output. Hydrangeas in their dried-out fall pale-pink to burgundy range, except for the ones that have gone all brown. (DH cut some of ours & put them in a vase last night.) One house had some happy echinaceas going; ours have all gone to seed. Rhododendron across the way is putting out a few fall flowers -- ours did that last year, maybe, or a couple of years ago. Oaks golden-brown, burning bushes aflame, crabapples yellow. Lone birch (don't get me started on "where have the birches gone?") starting to show some yellow. One magnolia had already dropped all its leaves. Another couple of delicate trees -- other magnolias, maybe? dogwoods? ask me in the spring, when they bloom again -- were a gorgeous pale orange. Maples are in varying states from fully scarlet to still totally green. Meant to mention the other day the odd maples on the street where carpool family lives -- they seemed to be turning limb by limb, with some patches of the tree totally green and others almost maroon, but next to nothing in between.

Walk was short, so I went through e-mail. The walk put me ahead on steps, and sitting on my bottom reading/deleting e-mail put me back behind. Crockpot going for dinner, finally. I should check soon to see if the meat has warmed up enough to shred. Wondered what to do while waiting for lunch to cook, then remembered that I need to send back defective phone. Got second or third  reminder in yesterday's e-mail that if I do not do so, they will charge me for it. There may be a F ed E x drop-off point on my way from home to the highway -- the address given on the (F.E.) website would indicate it is north of the highway by a fair bit, but the map shows a spot south of the highway. (Cleveland addresses are on a grid system -- the number given for the address is near 750, and the map shows it at the intersection of the avenue that is the 1000 mark.) I don't recognize the name of the business it's at as one I've seen on either side. But the address is looked up, and the package is taped up; I just have to cut out and tape on the prepaid return label that was e-mailed to me.

Got distracted reading, so I'm just posting now.

OKay, I can only think that if the things on your 5 AM card can be done over 5 hours later, maybe you don't need to get up at 5 AM!

Poor sore Ivy! Feel better soon!

Twins, that sounds like a beautiful vista! Focus was discussed as a possibility with dd, but since it's not been a problem in any of her non-math-related classes, and she didn't really show any ADD-like symptoms until a few years in school, the thought is that the lack of focus is due to avoidance and will improve once we get her to overcome her fears. If it doesn't improve, then we can see whether there's an inattention problem. So glad your DD is doing well in college -- there's hope yet, I guess!

Congratulations to your DD, Harriet! Way cool! 8-)

elly, I miss the voting machines with curtains and levers where you could change your vote until you pulled the big handle and opened the curtain. Here, these days, we have stand-up tables with what can barely be called cubicles and scanner sheets that you'd better be careful about filling in, because you're only allowed three, and then you have to take your scanner sheet (in a privacy folder, at least) over to the scan machine and scan it in. Bleah. :P

My distractions have dragged my lunch break from half an hour to over an hour. Time to get my rear back in gear.

Next up:
• clean up lunch
• if beef can be shredded, do so, then put in rest of ingredients
• finish laundry
• declutter

That should take me till carpool time.

Posting without cuop. It is time for a nap.

I checked and my study bible is available for my phone but costs $25. I paid $80 for the Bible originally so hate to pay more. I'll stick with the camera idea (which is faster than scanning.) When I got the phone I looked for good study bibles (and an NRSV for that matter) and nothing is free or really low cost. Don't know if the app store in Canada charges more than the US.

I have Bible study software on my computer but it isn't study notes, just detailed commentary. That's good when doing exegesis for a sermon but not for my daily devotions. I make them complicated enough without adding reading scholarly articles on top of my bible reading and reflection.

All that being said, I'm a month behind now. My flight is only 60 minutes long and of that I'll be able to have my computer on for only 40 minutes so that points back to photocopying so I can work on the devotions the whole time of the flight, including before take-off and after landing. In Canada, you can't have a cell phone on, even in Plane mode, until we reach cruising latitude, so I need paper things to read/work on.

I've got all my packing done except toiletries, hair stuff, medicine and my computer bag. It will be tight but I think it all fits in the carry-on bag.

I've arranged dinner out with my senior friend.

The house is a mess mainly due to paperwork. I need to get the bill paying done and dpc made.

Off to do that and then a nap.

Well, beef would not shred (I turned up the heat on it), but the rest are done. I am very proud of myself for, in today's declutter, dealing with the detritus that had accumulated at the foot of the stairs, where the girls hang their backpacks & lunchboxes. I have a small box of the items I salvaged that look like they might be worth keeping, and I can go through them with the girls later today. It's been quite a while since the foot of the stairs looked so good!

DH is home early -- PSATs were today.

I'm debating whether to leave now or go upstairs and sweep. Oh -- I'd better leave now to have extra time to find the package drop-off. Maybe I should check the website again to see if there is a drop-off near the school in case I can't find the one near here.

Joining the list of inquiring minds who want to know where Kathryn is headed -- if you mentioned, I missed it.

Don't blame you for not wanting to get ready for meeting, Twins, but cheering you on: *\o/* *\o/* *\o/*

Going to look up that drop-off and head out -- unless DH, who is upstairs changing, offers to head out for me!

Hello Villagers! :D

So far, my Ta Da is:
- I primed my inhaler this a.m. after washing the thing it goes in last night; let it air dry overnight once every 2 weeks.
- I loaded the DW and am running a load.
- I read my devotion, did praying, and wrote in my journal
- I folded and put away towels in my dryer from last night.
- I sat on a soft pillow and logged on a story for 20 min.
- I tidied the main office.
- I put some appliances away in the kitchen (counter ones) into the pantry and rearranged things, cleaned the counters.
- I tidied the dining room table
- I hung up clothes in our bedroom. (mine.) I'm the messy person in our house.
- I worked on taming paper clutter
- I walked 30 min.
- I remade the bed
- I dumped trash because tomorrow's garbage day.

When DH gets home, I'll help put away groceries. He's going to 2 places.

I'm playing smooth jazz on my cable TV music channel and it's turned up loud, it's so soothing and relaxing, and I love the beats. :D

I hope your arm doesn't get sore from your flu shot, Twins' Mom.

Kathryn, Get in a good nap. :)

MysteryWoman, Your flowers sound wonderful! :D

OKay, Are you going to do your 5 a.m. card later in the morning now? :?:

Harriet, Congrats to your DD! :D

Elly, Our entire county votes by mail here now. :) But there are drop-off sites, so you don't need to pay postage to mail them in. :) I'm trying to alternate sitting with walking things and if all else fails, my dr. said I could take 1/2 pill to help.

Lilac, We're voters, too. I'm glad we do mail-in now. I disliked going to the polls to do it on machines, for some reason. :?:

Dee, Do you think you'll go to the doctor before you leave? :?:

MysteryWoman, When I first saw "flip" for you, I thought you were flipping the mattress over, but later in the cuop, I see you're flipping the laundry. I don't have enough dirty things to make a full load today. :)

My timer's got 6 min. on it, so I'll sign off and go log my walking today.
Have a great afternoon, Everybody! :D

Read through, but I am getting so sleepy now. Not that you all are boring, on the contrary, but I have been busy and need a rest.

DGD was in rare form today. I was busy in the house today catching up stuff and I think she was bored and was trying to get my attention. She finger painted with her yogurt, decided this was the day to potty train so diaper was on and off all morning (she can't manage trainer pants or pull-ups yet). But I am doing ok except now I need a rest.

I did 2 small LOL and hung them up, straightened up stuff on my desk, straightened up the recycle bin, did all the kitchen chores, so it's at least a bit presentable in here. But I really really need a nap, so off I go.

Yes, Harmony, I would nap when dgd naps! You would be worn out by having dgd with you even if you didn't have any health issues so I know you're tired out this week, with more to go.

I can't put it off any longer - why am I so unmotivated about this meeting? And not wanting to do anything has me "blocked;" I'm not allowing myself to do anything else until I do this, so I've done nothing!

-agenda for meeting
-email temple secretary about having new member forms for me
-answer email from membership chair who won't be there tonight
-get out FP and add some to-dos
-clear kitchen counter (a.m. routine not done!)

I am going to leave for meeting in 45 minutes. I was thinking I needed to leave at 4:30 to be at temple at five, but since we moved it only takes 15 minutes. So I can leave at 4:45.

-check mail
-some notes for meeting
-change shirt/blouse
-clear kitchen table
-straighten family room

Sorry, I'm doing quick fly by's and didn't remember to post where I'm going.

I'm off to Nova Scotia for my (paternal) uncle's 100th birthday. It was actually on Tuesday but the government celebrates his birthday on Saturday (he was born on the 15th but when he dad registered the birth with the priest on the 20th, the priest put the wrong date in.) Until he was 26, he celebrated his birthday on the 15th. Then war came, he needed a birth certificate to enlist and when it arrived it showed the other date.

So he's celebrated 2 birthdays each year since! He had a party with the neighbours on Tuesday and Saturday will be spending time with family at a restaurant (built on the property of my maternal family's cottage.)

I'm up from my nap. Phone call went fine. Photographed the study Bible pages and loaded them onto my computer, and finished packing to make sure my bag is small enough (it is, barely.)

Now to pay bills.
