Dang, phone calls. And then dh on Skype. He's lucky, he doesn't have to leave the hotel until 8:15 tomorrow morning, I'm out of here at 7. Plus I have to shut down the house. On the other hand, I'll get to Nova Scotia 11 hours before him! And 8:15 his time is 2:15 a.m. my current time (3:15 a.m. NS time.)

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Boy, I dragged my feet on my teaching. I just now finished notes and handout; I'm sure dh will have changes for me to make this evening.
I have managed to keep laundry going too, and drove to post office box to put a letter in b/c I missed the mail today.
I might go for a short walk or something before starting dinner. I'm tired of sitting here staring at this computer.

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Hello, all! Girls' Night Out last night was a resounding success. DD10 got her cast off and was finally able to go back to Chuck E Cheese. She played there and I chipped in some extra money and got her a stuffed Angry Bird. Then she went with me to get light bulbs, because my house was dark, dark, dark! I needed four of them. Then we watched an episode of Hogan. She tried for Big Bang Theory, but that is too adult for her, I think. I also made much progress on my crochet sweater and crocheted baby sweater (for charity) and miniscule progress on the job search. I went to bed at 10:00, but was still tired this morning. The doctor has agreed to up my thyroid dosage and that may help my energy levels.
I have printed pictures for art class tomorrow, picked up a printer cable, and gotten a flu shot. The last was not planned, a lady was in the beauty salon next door giving them out and our office was asked if we needed any.
I am trying to figure out my schedule for tonight. I can't eat at church because the meal is full of cheese, but I will go to Bible study. Maybe what I should do is: go home, put in LOL, shower, goto Bible study, pick up meds, job search stuff, crochet (if time), and bed.

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Back from pickup run. F ed E x box was at address listed, not place shown on map. Slightly annoying -- if I'd left earlier, I could have stopped for the laundry stuff; the box was in the same shopping plaza as the one discount store I was considering going to. Beef is shredded & mixed with sauce ingredients -- in crockpot cooking together for a bit. Upstairs sweeping done. Mail fetched in -- I wish our mail carrier came before 5. If our street isn't at the end of his route, it must be close! Very frustrating to see him delivering around the corner on the boulevard in the morning and know we won't be getting our mail till much later.
High school night starts at 6:30; I figure we'll eat at 6. (Don't want to go much sooner, because as it is, the ingredients will have had barely enough time to meld, IMHO -- but we'll see.) Should be interesting -- buns will be leftover hot dog buns from DH's school event on Friday (no point letting them go to waste), rather than hamburger buns. I think I will put an apron on to eat, just in case. I have all my pre-dinner cards done.
Woo-hoo!
Girls are doing homework; given their progress (or lack thereof), I hope we're not at the school for too long. dd is on an odd streak... all of her spelling words thus far have been guide words in either the dictionary or thesaurus -- what are the chances? Had to teach her to use the thesaurus; mine is an old-style Roget's with the words organized by category.
Ivy, those were the neighborhood flowers -- I wish they were all mine!
I hope your nap is restful, Harmony -- sounds like you could use it!
Twins, might you be dreading the meeting b/c of difficulties w/the secretary?
Oh, Kathryn, how cool! Happy Birthday to your DUncle!
Tackle those Idonwannas, blessed! *\o/* *\o/* *\o/*
Class is tomorrow, helia?
Glad you had fun with your DD, Elizabeth! I will have to ask my daughters how much of BBT they "get" -- much of it seems to go over their heads, but maybe not....
Time to serve dinner! Let me wish you all a very good night -- and a safe trip to Kathryn -- and a good morning to Lynlee -- before I go, in case I don't get back here!

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Some of this was supposed to post before - try to make sense of it if you can, but don't expect too much!
I'm out of step.
Flowers - I have often thought people who like annuals (me) should plant for this time of year, Mystery. Of your mentions, impatiens are by far my fav but every year begonias impress me so much in Oct. I can't seem to find time even for my pansies any more.
bittersweet would be amused at that conversation. She is our village's certified Master Gardener but I'm sure her Oct in Alberta doesn't include annuals.
Thinking of OKay and LO! That's great that dh feels confident speaking.
Parked at school and met dd to request some kind of media for engineering - not sure what this is on a flashdrive, but we've got it and her ddad can just handle it with her - not my area. At book store picked up reading books for English next semester for dd as well as the non-fiction one mentioned in the speech last evening. I'm reading it. Picked up the guitar from the music store with its new strings and bought a strap. You would think that should hold me for errands, but I had to piecemeal a supper together for my ddad tonight. Out of some groceries again because each store doesn't carry the variety of items this household seems to need now. So one grocery trip doesn't answer all any more, just like one pharmacy trip doesn't.
Dd is giving her ddad a music lesson - so he says, though he is on electric. I can't read while they are playing because he switches from the classical she's showing him to rock rifts to tease her. They are having fun but it is not "easy listening". Music teacher is encouraging this kind of at-home fun by teaching oddities as well, so Twilight Zone theme is also being played by these two - surprise! Now, that's disconcerting. And somehow I have "lost" or at least can't see the music stations on our satellite feed - how could they just get up and walk away? So muffling the sound with something more predictable isn't an option.
But I'm glad there are a few areas of high school that I can step away from and let the other parent handle. Flashdrives and guitars are Daddy things around here and that's good. HRH mentioned this afternoon that I shouldn't thank him for staying with my ddad so I can do school errands, since the bulk of all the child-rearing is falling to me and we're learning that at this point it isn't getting easier.
Got extra outdoor chores done.
The additional "nest" laundry basket is down to only greens right now. Yay. Of course, during this time all the catching up with the big loads has worn off so I am again just barely on schedule.

Mystery, Twins, and others interested,
This article reminds me a bit of what you're describing with your dds. A friend sent it to us. --Not that you have talked to your girls wrong, but it is a common phenomenon.
More I would like to say on the topic, but dinner is ready and dh just walked in the door. We're going to go over my teaching after dinner. A fresh pair of eyes will be helpful.

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Good Evening, Villagers!
My Ta Da for afternoon is:
- I opened up the blinds to let the sun shine in!
- I helped DH put away groceries.
- I helped DH sort our mail.
- I wrote on a story, finished it and sent it off.
- I set the dawn simulator and got out clothes for tomorrow.
- I helped plan our dinner.
MysteryWoman, I'd love those flowers in my yard, too!
I hope Harmony
and Kathryn,
both, you got good naps in.
Blessed, How are you doing on the idonwanns?
Progress, not perfection.
Elizabeth, I'm glad DD10 got her cast off!
Helia, Good luck on your teaching!
Twins' Mom, good luck at your meeting.
I've had the pleasure on meeting a wonderful older woman who has adult children and a Down's Syndrome DD who lives with her. This woman's a new pen pal, has her DD in The Special Olympics activities and I believe it keeps my pal active, young at heart, and she's a great lady. I'm going to write her a letter this evening and send some stickers to her DD. I just might get caught up on all my snail mail. I owe about 3 or 4 gals. After that, I might crochet and read for awhile. After working so hard on my story, I need a little down time to relax and be good to myself.
Have a wonderful night, Everyone!

Re: Wednesday PWYC
Great link, Helia! Food for thought.
One never knows what goes on in a kid's head. I told ds that getting to Australia is the success, not how long he stays so if he isn't happy and wants to come home before the year is up, he could do so without feeling like he was a failure. Dh chided me, saying why would you even put that thought into his head? Well, the answer is that that is how I think. I worry about what others will think of me when I don't do what I say I'll do. Dh never has any concern about anything like that. Ds is 'my' child (he is the most like me) so I figured he might feel the way I do (plus he suffered from depression as a teen and I don't want him to feel the pressure he did in school and trigger another attack of it.)
Anyway, I told him he may not think the way I do, but if he did, he needed to know that getting to Australia is the success. Everything else is just gravy.
Back from dinner (and errands) with my friend. She doesn't have a car and doesn't bank in her village so she needed a bank run, then dinner, then drug store, then dollar store. I ran into the dollar store for her (she's slow moving and can't even step up onto a curb) so that shortened the errands slightly. Still, I was gone three hours. Had pepsi with dinner for the sugar and caffeine because I need to keep my energy up.
Now to get bills paid, quicken updated, my computer bag packed and the house ready to be left for 5 days.

Hello, villagers ~
Enjoyed reading all of your activities today.
Tired. Very tired.
Volunteering at the library today 8:30 to 5:30 except for 1/2 hour at lunch to run out and grab a sandwich. The rest of the group was in and out as their schedules allowed. It was really nice to have some help because I'm running out of steam.
I will go in for a short time tomorrow to finish putting price stickers on fabrics. I also need to go to the bank to get change.
The room is in use almost every afternoon or evening by various community groups, such as cub scouts, as well as rented for other meetings. I have had to stash everything away in a storage closet and sweep the floor after each work session.
Friday night the room is not being used by anyone else, so Friday afternoon we will finally be able to set up tables and figure out how to display everything. I think the room will be stuffed full and should be very colorful and cheerful on Saturday when the public arrives.
<groan> Still need to get the trash into the bin and out to the curb. OK, here I go ...
