Dining table was in such good shape that I was able to tidy it, couch, coffee table, and playroom while I was waiting for lunch to cook! 8-) If I could just whittle down the pile of DPW at my place, it'd be so clean, I could polish it! Maybe I will head over to school early and take a stack of papers to work on in the car. If I could get near the very front of the line, that might get us home :15 or so sooner, and dd could get a good start on HW before heading to 5:30 hockey practice.

elly, I would agree that sending the photos is thoughtful -- my kids, even at their age, are fascinated by pix of their younger selves, and I relish the opportunity to look at childhood pix of DH and wish I had more than the couple I do.

Glad last night's meeting went well, Twins. As for the fundraiser, maybe you could bid some silent auction items up? ;) But then you'd risk coming home with something if no one outbid you.

Amen! Part of the remedy that the psychologist suggested we try for dd deals with this very thing. dd is such a perfectionist that she's obsessed with getting it "right," and no matter how many times we tell her it's the trying that matters, not the outcome, she gets extremely upset if she doesn't do "perfectly." And helia, with reference to the article you linked last night, we don't use the "P" word, but dd has suckered us into reassuring her that she is smart when she calls herself stupid. Dr. R. suggested that instead of trying to console her, we just express confidence that she can do the task if she keeps working at it.

Lunch is eaten; time to clean it up and flip the wash.

Yep, helia, that'd be the one!

Wash flipped. Must remember to tell DH that there are certain sweatshirts I hang to dry on hangers because clothespins will not hold them well, not because I want them to be put away on hangers.

Glad you finally (fingers crossed) got your internet problem sorted out, Dee. Rooting for your DH to get plenty done; we've had a front pass through -- heavy rain followed by a drizzle. It doesn't seem to be raining now, but it's still gray & damp. Glad my DH decided to mow the lawn rather than do school pickup when he got home early yesterday.

I hope the funky smells clear up soon/well enough for you to get a good nap in, Kathryn!

Pork tenderloin and rootbeer, helia? Sounds interesting. DH and I would probably enjoy it, though I'm not sure about the girls.

Glad your schedule is working out, OKay.

Oh, my goodness, I think I'm finally CUOPed! Going to gather some of that paperwork and head out to the school now.

Waving to all!

I am intrigued by Helia's crockpot meal today. I'll have to try that one!

Have washed and dried bathroom rugs (long overdue). Fridge filters arrived, so we have filtered water. Waiting to see if the icemaker works now. Ironed 3 shirts (DH will probably faint over that one).

Have 2 giant turkey thighs in the oven for supper. Will add brown rice and broccoli--and a jar of gravy (can't be too healthy)!

Think I'll go pull up my flowers outside (red impatiens). The cold got them, so they are finished. :(

Hello dear ladies,

Having wonderful weather here, temps in the 70's and lower 80's.

Dson's hand is healing, he got the stitches out a few days ago but still has to keep the finger straight, not bent to let the area around the knuckle heal thoroughly. He continues to wear a finger splint.

DH's back is slowly improving. He is able to go out for a few hours a day to service calls and then back home to rest.

The staying up with him to help with the TENS unit is catching up with me, find that Andy and Barney are putting me to sleep. :!: Fell asleep last night before taking the pads off DH's back. but he turned the machine off and managed to get the pads off, thankfully.

I'm feeling tired these days and yesterday my back decided it was going on strike for a time. got out of bed and could not bend, so I walked around and when there was something on the floor that needed to be picked up, I would kick it until it landed on a higher surface that I could bend down to. ;)

DH had anxiety problems for a few days too. Not agreeing with decisions that two dsons made. It isn't anything bad just different from what DH would do and he had to worry, worry, worry and hash over and over the possible outcomes for them. He finally let the subject go, I hope.

He always thinks of the worst possible situation, while I usually think of the most positive situation happening. The actual outcome is somewhere in the middle.

Have been working with the yellow pages too, they're giving us some free advertising this year due to leaving us out of the book this past year. And I placed an order beyond that so hopefully it will help the business grow.

Maybe as DH's back becomes better, I'll feel more like doing more in the house. All the chores around here have shifted a bit with DH not able to do what he usually does, so the dsons do more of his work and they can't help me as much either. Time of transition.

Going to rest awhile and then head to work.

Have a great day all!

Back from lunch. Room still smelled to I've been moved around the corner so face out onto a quieter street (but can still here the firetrucks.) The head housekeeper (who dropped by with a cart to help move me) said that the cleaning lady must have taken today to bleach down the shower walls and she could smell the bleach too. So I am not going crazy.

I decided to move at lunch when I found my body fully relax in its surroundings. Since I've been ill, the smallest of things will cause stress to my body, I suppose a clue of how hard my liver was working to fight the virus and as it recovers it won't take being stressed well.

Anyway, the hotel continues to be as wonderful as I remember it. Just to get into a room so early in the day is a real blessing.

I've unpacked here (I didn't touch a thing in the other room, just sat at the desk and used my computer.) I've tried to leave some room for dh. I have the tv on a boring news channel and am feeling my body yelling at me to nap. I've got my heating pad on, warming the bed for me now. I brought a electrical splitter but I will need an extension cord instead because the outlet is behind wood trim and my splitter won't fit into it. In the meantime, I've unplugged the clock, deciding I need it less than the light.

Turns out the IKEA here closed so I need to come up with a dinner plan for myself as well. But not for several hours.

Oh, I'm going to add bbq sauce later Mystery and elly. This is going to be pulled pork! A friend sent me this recipe; I made it once for small group and everyone loved it!!

I just had a little n-a-p. I didn't sleep well last night; I usually don't the night before I teach. Now, it is time to get busy.

Th dinner crew is coming over tonight. Dh invited his Italian colleague; I don't know if he'll be able to join us or not.

Yes, beautiful day out there!

I need to get buns for the pulled pork sandwiches from Whole Foods. They sell some good sturdy buns. I might buy a gift card for dbro. while I'm over there too. B and N is near WF.

I'm going to get those errands done first. I can just walk.

Been putting things away and cleaning/arranging while I do it. I'm getting down to the last "stuff" that I'm not sure where it goes. I should just throw it out. But I'm too cheap to do that.

I have thrown some things. DH is great for getting new things (i.e. coffeepot) but holding on to the old "just in case". It is now in the garbage along with old meds container, stretched out ankle and knee braces and some old dish rags.

I have one load of clothes on the bed to fold. I need to get rid of lots and lots of tshirts. We seem to collect them at places we work and visit. I have to get ruthless about this one as they all have memories and there are WAY too many to fit in our dresser.

Just wanted to let you know that I am alive and kicking. We went into town for groceries yesterday but didn't find anything as far as furniture we want.

I've actually spent most the day reading instead of doing what I needed to do. Or maybe reading at home was what I really needed? (I'll look at it that way! ;) )

DMacs has been feeling puny today because of meds last night for the thunder - long phone call from vet leaves us still looking for answers for him 'cause the test from Tuesday came back normal. Vet thinks that because his liver enzymes are "off the chart" abnormal that perhaps he doesn't process the meds for thunder well. He shouldn't be this knocked out by 1/4 of a 25 mg pill 12 hours ago either. So the next step is an ultrasound of his belly - gall bladder, liver and adrenal glands - next week. His main symptom is just an abnormal crazy thirst most days.

The only things that I have to do today are to get dog food and show up at this fundraiser around 6:30 suitable attired and showered.

Sooooooo, to get on with that and a little more
-s2s
-start a lol
-head out for a quick errand run
---petsmart
---staples in the same area for office supplies
---perhaps a walk through Hob Lob with 40% off coupon?
---pumpkins
