I have wonderful treasures to report!!!!!

First of all an appointment with builder to remodel the kitchen will happen in 1 1/2 hours.

2nd - found frames at $1 each!!!

3rd - found new dining table, 4 chairs, matching small table, 2 bar stools - delivered tomorrow !!!!! Price was less than another store wanted for just an old table. This one is SW style, legs look like they are out of logs, creamy beige color with insets covered with glass that are turquoise and light terra cotta. Chairs have cool SW fabric backs and seats.

4th - Schwans man delivered sugar free fudge bars!!! (I've been out since July)

I am one happy camper. Film at 11 - or rather pictures after the table is delivered.

I'm still working on updating accounts in Quicken. All the chits are entered and I've reconciled and shredded two month's of chits for one account and reconciled two months of another. I still have three months of chits to pull and shred for that second account but first I had to send the details to ds since it is the account we share.

When ds works insane hours his spending goes up as well because he is using shopping therapy to make himself feel better. So he's spending about 1/2 his income for each of the past three months. Basically on stuff although $1100 of it was on scuba lessons, rock climbing gym and Spartan Run annual memberships.

I can't believe how far behind on Quicken I am. For our investments, it is 9 months of data entry to do. But for now, I'm just worried about the credit card accounts.

Someone asked if I'll get back on track before bed - not likely since this took 2 hours longer than I expected.

I took my new med with dinner -a pasta dish that dfriend brought. YUUUMMMMYYYY! Have no idea what it is, but we both loved it! Taste I've never had before, but sure wouldn't mind having again. The pasta is one I've never seen either. Pharmacist asked me today if I was nervous about taking a new med. Told her that's why I asked for a 'starter' from the Dr. so I could have a few doses in me before we leave on Tuesday. There's some pretty strong warnings on it, so I guess I am a bit nervous. Did tell dh what it's supposed to do -just in case my BS crashes. Anxious to see how it's going to work.
I hope your next A1C comes down.
I have absolutely no doubt it will. But I do think I'm going to have to be even more vigilant. Hoping as my weight continues down that perhaps I can quit taking it. AND I know I need to exercise MORE.

DS-R and DDIL#!, dgs7 were all just here. GAve them a bag of frozen things for them to take home. My freezer is getting empty. I need to empty and wash the fridge on Sunday. The water is being turned off late Sunday evening. Probably about 8:30-9:00. DH is taking his shower in the bathhouse and then will winterize that bathroom.

DH read our electric today and it looks like it'll be about $200 less than last year. Yay for being just a tad frugal. About the only thing we cut back on was to only use one AC unit at a time -the bedroom one (with door closed) during the night when needed and the same, using only the living room one when that was needed. Think I used to have both running last year.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Grumble....

If you went to unpack your suitcase and next to it there was a laundry basket half full of the clothes your spouse wore during your trip, would you understand that you were to put your dirty clothes into that basket? What if the regular laundry hamper was empty (but your spouse had completely unpacked her bags), would you wonder why, and then notice the laundry basket next to your suitcase?

If you haven't already guessed, dh didn't notice. So I just ran half a load of laundry. I suppose it was my fault for not noticing that the basket was not overflowing. He's just going to have to wait for his clothes to get cleaned. It was only as I was hanging up the load to dry that I realized there were no clothes of his in the basket. My night gowns were the colour of his shirts so I didn't clue in as I carried the basket downstairs - I was just relieved it wasn't too heavy since my back is very sore tonight.

Anyway, that's another item off my to-do list for the day. All that is left is a second round of devotions (I'm 18 days behind, still), spend 30 minutes on my in-box and continue to revamp my SHE system. The revamping is top priority. I've decided my days of the week for each chore no longer make any sense given the new pricing of electricity (weekends are cheap, week days are not.) So my strip bed day will be moving to Friday.

Dee - I hope your new med works well. DH takes metformin. It is keeping his BS in almost perfect range.

MT - BWTG!!! Can't wait to see pictures and hear how the meeting with potential kitchen renovator went.

I mow the yard (with LO sitting on my lap). Darkness arrived before I could mow the yard area that is outside of the new yard fence and outside of the pasture fence (probably makes no sense!) :) Will try to get to it before cold front arrives around noon tomorrow.

While I was mowing I was dreaming that someone would invent a floor cleaner that was as fun to operate as zero turn mower. I remember how fun the Segway was to drive.....what if it also cleaned the floor? That would be sooooo much fun to sweep, mop and wax the floors while gliding around on a Segway type machine. OH YEA! dreaming............

Wonderful purchases, Emptynester.

Nancy posted in Cardfile and in J and C from the library. She says the parts are ordered but it will probably be a week before her computer at home is up and running. She says the hens are doing well and enjoying bug-hunting!

Speaking of which, TMI alert - Fay the Alpha Hen killed and ate a (juvenile) snake this evening. It all happened very fast. Was a little concerned for her on the chance it was a poisonous one, though I've certainly heard of this. Checked Nancy's fav backyard poultry site and they are very reassuring in posts there, no reason to be concerned. She's molting right now so shes not laying anyway - no interesting thoughts about this particular protein-added meal's effect on the eggs, then.

If you don't believe in miracles, you're not being realistic.

Wow, poor snake! (just kidding!)

I've finished reworking my system. My basic weekly plan has shifted some but not as dramatically as I thought before I wrote this post!

Monday: paperwork, church work formerly changed sheets, laundry, paperwork

Tuesday: volunteering, errand, Sabbath (from noon to noon) formerly kitchen, errand and volunteering

Wednesday: Basement (about 45 minutes), more paperwork (after my sabbath ends) formerly bathrooms and paperwork

Thursday: Kitchen (30 minutes), main floor cleaning (1.5 - 2 hours) garbage out formerly dusting, vacuuming and mopping day

Friday: Upstairs cleaning (bathrooms, fresh sheets, dust & vacuum) 1.5 hours, errands if needed formerly errands, paperwork and whatever didn't get done the day before

Saturday: Zone work, paperwork and laundry no change - this is a light day in case something for church or family is scheduled that day.

Sunday: Church and laundry No change except for garbage gathering has been moved

There's zone work time built into every day except Thursday.

I'll give this a few weeks and see if it works for me. It should be better than my old plan which made sense at the time but lost its logic when external things changed (like power rates or garbage pickup day.)

Sunday, November 4 is turning into a disaster. We got a call saying no electricity that morning from 7 - 11 (planned outage.) Well, this is the community's Cenotaph service day (to honour the war dead) so the two churches have a combined service in my church at 9:30, then we all march down to the cenotaph for an 11 a.m. outside service, then the community comes back to our church for a luncheon. Oh, and it is time-change Sunday too.

Now, without power we can have the church service (by heating the sanctuary up high 7 a.m., using the piano instead of organ - our church doesn't have a PA so the mic never works!) but most people will not have water at home so will they come to church if they haven't showered? And there will be no washroom facilities at church (and barely in the homes, since you get one flush after the power goes off.) And we won't be able to start the coffee or keep things warm for the luncheon. Or bake anything at home before we come to church.

One of our members has already spoken to the power company to ask them to move it but it can't be done, they have 30 people coming in to work on a substation that day. It will be interesting to see how this will all work out. We are writing our member of Parliament and other officials who are due in the community that day to warn them.

LOL Kathryn! I have a similar story here. Well, maybe not similar but involving a dh, a suitcases, and a clothing foible. Today, I discovered my sports b ra is nowhere to be found. Well, guess who did me a favor and packed my suitcase in the Detroit hotel room last Sunday? We were in a rush to leave the hotel room and didn't make a careful sweep of the room, so, I think some maid now has an extra one. It was kinda sweaty and stinky at the time, though. . . .

I got a doodle made and sent out to my steering committee this evening. I also went out w/ dh for coffee. Well, I had tea.. . . We're both a little on edge over dd17, but overall optimistic. She is so cheerful today.

Bed time will be next here. Tomorrow, my plan is to make a lunch before I head out to moms group. Then, I'll go to moms group, clean up moms group, eat lunch in the car while driving to the mall for some shopping for dd17, get to her school by 1:35 to pick her up for pedi. endocrinologist appt., take her to her appt. at 2.

There was some mention here a while back about hashimoto's hypothyroidism. That is what dd17 has; she was diagnosed about 3? years ago. At a regular check up appt., her pedi discovered her thyroid was enlarged and ordered tests. She is not very good about monitoring food intake when she takes her pill. She actually takes it at night b/c she doesn't get up early enough in the a.m. to take it and then eat bfast -- and she doesn't need another excuse not to eat bfast, that is already a mild struggle here.

Life with teens! It is a comfort to know that many of you have made it through this phase well. :) In many ways, my 3 kids are SO different from each other. I guess there are some similarities too. The differences sure make parenting a challenge -- and a lot of fun too.
