Does anyone here remember Hurricane Hazel?

Hurricane Sandy is on a very similar path. Most of the rain expected here will be on Monday.

I got next to nothing done today. I ended up back in bed this morning. It's been raining here all day. Dh needs to go get milk and bread, but he's glued to the tv.

We are leaving next Sunday for a 3 week Caribbean cruise. I found a white half slip and a black half slip and matching camisoles for each. YAY! I thought that was all I needed to be done... not!

The suitcases aren't finished yet. Darn the weight limits. BUT on a "lighter" ;) note... MIL and FIL weighed their case this morning. Their case weighs 70 pounds. They need to remove 20 pounds worth.

CathyS--Don't remember Hazel, but we were in our home state for Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Not fun. Also remember Irene a year ago, but that was a tropical storm by the time it reached where I was in New England. Still had no power for 2 and a half days.

We have raked leaves and will finish battening down the hatches tomorrow. The worst should reach us by Tuesday. Hoping not to lose power. Glad we cut down those trees back in the summer. Good luck everyone else in Sandy's path!

Welcome back, Nancy!

We were "boo-ed" earlier. Dh has gone to store for candy to pass it on. We walked the dogs just now and looks like many houses have already been booed.

I've rebooted laundry and am going to throw the burlap in to try to get some of the stiffness out.

One thing about our community (and any place I've ever lived), Trick or Treating takes place on the 31st. Period. Parties might be tonight but not the door to door stuff. There was an exception when a little neighbour wanted to try out his new costume and showed up at my house a few days early, long before dark, but that was more because his mom knew I'd understand and not shut my door on a 3 year old. And I did understand as I was once the mother a three year old who insisted on showing his favourite neighbour, upon returning from the store, his new big boy underpants - wearing them on his head!

I did nap. Couldn't help it. And couldn't get up when the alarm went off either, although I did force myself to stay awake.

Dh made up dinner and we also watched an episode of Quantum Leap.

It is now time for me to bake and cook for tomorrow.

Sunny, Thank you for the Happy Birthday to Mr. Ivy! :D We've had a good day. It took us about 1 1/4 hours to get to the cafe up North, to meet with our adult kids and 7 grandsons. Ddil is in the hospital, but DH paid for some Tomato Basil Soup to be given to her, by Dson, when he went to visit after the party. DH cut the cake, got frosting all over his shirt and leather jacket. Ddil is the one who always serves up the cake and we missed that this year!

I had fish & chips, ate three 6" long fish, had fries, and I'm so swollen from sodium and having feet on the floor riding in the car and at the cafe. DH is snoozing on the sofa watching the World Series. He's so tired.

Twins, You're so lucky to have a Hob Lob. We don't have any here. :( We have wildlife close by though. :D

Dee, Sometimes my DH has a snack before he goes to bed, too. He's diabetic, too. I was told to always mix a carb with a protein when you have a snack and heard diabetics should do that, too. I am not sure, but I believe it slows down the absorption of the food over a longer period of time, which stabilizes the blood sugar over that time. Just a theory. I think that's why a nighttime snack of cheese and crackers or some chicken and crackers stays with you overnight better. :?:

The sugar-free things for dgs will be such a nice treat for him.

Nancy, It's terrible that you DH has the BALL of his foot sore! It's a hard spot to ice and whenever you walk, you walk on the ball! I sure wouldn't be a happy camper either. :(

I'm seriously considering wearing an apron in the mornings, to get my housework done, sorting, laundry, and dishes, before lunchtime comes. Then work on reading/writing in the afternoon and evenings. I'm not really brainy in the a.m., I'm groggy, but I enjoy watching the news and puttering around until lunchtime. Then I can think! :!:

Kathryn, When you get up late, work on the schedule late, do you make yourself stay up 2 hours later, to get everything done, or do you make yourself go to bed at a specific hour? :?: I ask because I get a bit messed up on the weekends and when Mon. rolls around, I get up earlier and seem more tired. :(

Glad you still like the new car. Oh, your post mentioned laundry! :!:  I'd better go check mine to see if there is enough of a load to do. Been gone all day, it's getting later, so might wait until tomorrow. Glad you mentioned it though.

I didn't know probiotics could cause bloating on some people.

OKay, I'm glad DD's lunch went as well as expected. :)

Dove, I hate that you're in the path of Sandy! You, too, CathyS! I'm glad you're preparing. Good luck to you! And Everyone! You, too, Dee.

TTFN
Have a good night! :D

Happy Birthday to Mr. Ivy
We went to the feed store open house and I got a sack of feed for the non laying chickens they loaded it for me, h. brought it in. Tomorrow we will start with that kind.

H. convinced me to let the chickens run in the back yard while we were at the movie; came home and a couple of them had been fighting like roos one was bloody ack! I'm not surprised however I suppose they might have done that in the chicken run while we were gone, but not liking this development mostly bc one of my favs. was involved. I see culling in the near future. Lynnlee I was wondering that as well.

Went to the buffet place so I need to get on the ex. bike. 4 mi. done.
I had to drive I like to drive just not with h.'s critique makes me feel
like I'm back in high school.

We saw the Borne Legacy it was nice to get out of the house but the movie place was cold but we were prepared  with coats and a blanket! [Not the first time we've been to that place LOL!]

I still have not done any QT or journaling.

I've heard of a teen who got menengitus with his bout of measles many decades ago.
Prayers in church for those with eye problems today.

Dee - according to someone at a meditation training session from 20 years ago - onions lower blood sugar - their religion banned onions. Prayers for you as you prepare and travel. Depending on what the storm does, things might get complicated.

Welcome back Nancy. Ouch for the hens having a stouch. Wondering if something else was up with them.

I have put a big bunch of jobs on squares of paper - colour coded - to pull a combination out of a container as a focus to do something and its made a bit of difference - so far at least. Also looking at an updated daily list - Need to put open windows on there - though what gets done does depend on what else is up that day. Seems to help me. Its on my computer desktop. Guessing this is my version of cards and control journal.
Far eastern yard is my green card for the day. I'll at least take a walk down there - but not under the big trees in the wind that gusts at times today. Maybe pull a few weeds. Or drag some flood debris off a chicken wire fence if it seems safe in that corner. Its been months so the wire is possibly rusted out.

waving to all from Sunday
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

I have barely been able to CUOP. That was already becoming the norm for me and with dd32's family visiting it has become more difficult.

We have had toilet troubles, refrigerator troubles, and of course a crisis-a-minute for 3 little boys. But it's all good. Many hugs and kisses for Grandma so what do I care if I'm exhausted and bleary. Also sunburned, windburned, my legs ache, I'm limping, my eyes are tired and dry, and I jump out of my skin with every unexpected noise or notice of toddler-out-of-eyesight.

But have been wanting to come here to say one important thing all afternoon/evening:

Where has the Renaissance Fair been all my life!?!?
I was in Creativity Cloud Nine for about 6 hours there today. Wow, Wow, Wow. Dd32 was embarrassed she'd never taken me before, but in her years of going every year, she was a teen and very young 20 something interested in her own friends or dates. Anyway, she says we must go every year now that she sees how much I like it. Perhaps I can remember some of the highlights to tell tomorrow.

Hoping Ivy's dh had a wonderful day.

Ivy, I just kept to the schedule, roughly, but 2 hours late through the day, knowing I'd either have to do some things more quickly or abandon stuff at the end of the day. In fact, I slowed down so ended the day 2:20 behind and abandoned two hours of items off the list.

On the bright side, all the laundry is done. And the baking and cooking is done so tomorrow morning should run smoothly.

We are off to bed now. An hour later than planned but I spent the last hour watching dumb tv shows with dh. We still don't know what to think about The Neighbours but we laughed awfully hard at it.
