Why do I have to do their job?? We received the property tax bill for the land we sold last November.

When I called to tell the Co. Treasurer about it - I was told I had to call the Escrow Co. and/or send the bill back to the treasurer. Why do I have to do this. I no longer own the land - I went thru Escrow to avoid any problems in transferring title and I sill have to fix it for them. SHEESH!!

helia, I'm glad to hear your girls are relatively drama free. I remember ds saying as a teen that he thought a particular girl was cute but "I wouldn't handle all that drama very well". So he never told her! Ds was certainly not shy, but he was SO very conscious of his peers. He thought all the scenarios through and didn't want to risk the important thing - potential embarrassment in front of other guys! I guess I should look toward dd14 when I think of this and wonder about her, but she is one of the youngest in her class and so far hasn't been of interest to boys, to the point that she is still hearing her girlfriends say that they were "asked out" by the very boys she likes. Oh, too bad, too bad. (Happy dance, happy dance, happy dance)

Just a quickie note for me right now, Villagers!

I am so happy! I just took my shower, BEFORE reading that this was Tralala Tuesday! HONEST! I was da-dah-dahing a march and outside my shower garden tub window a 2-point buck laid down to listen to me sing while I took a shower. Another buck, 3-point, which is 3 points (to Westerners) on each side, stood at attention listening to my tune, too! It was so neat and funny, both!

Earlier this morning, a flock of about a hundred tiny birds landed on our patio to feed from the patio and the bird feeder, and then they'd flock up to the trees, back and forth, and forth and back! It was so cool and we've never had that happen here to us before! I asked DH, "Do you think they're flying South for the winter?" He said, "I think they can fly wherever they want to!" I live with a man with a sense of humor, which is delightful unless I'm in a serious mood.

Wowed DH with all I accomplished yesterday. It was time he saw what I am doing "behind the scenes"! Today I got groceries and have swiffered the hard floors. Next up is vacuuming--hope to get the basement done too.

Nice to check in and see you all plugging away as usual.

I am singing from the roof top. Dsisil is considered in remission. She has 2 spleens and both are shrinking. White bloods cells way up. They will do a total of 6 months of chemo and will recheck her every 3 months. The dr. and his nurse walked in with big, big smiles on their faces and my poor bil fell to pieces. Our family has our Christmas miracle early. Thank you to each one of you for your prayers. They were answered.

Trying to wake up from my nap now. I need to leave here in 30 minutes so should get out of bed but my eyes just want to close again. Sigh....

I did get into the city, dh drove me. We ran a couple of errands including the Costco one which I could not have done had I been on my own because I simply didn't have the energy.

Ivy - so 2 bucks were hanging out with each other and came that close to a house? Highly unusual!

Call the man!

So what I would LIKE to get around to telling you all if I can avoid interruptions is that we have lots of repair trouble. The appliance repair man has just left after repairing the refrigerator, which wasn't freezing anything because it had a blown heater (interesting to think about). He is so nice - he brought me 2 tomatoes and he used white appliance paint and touched up the spots on the stove for free while he was here. Kathryn and others who advised me about the prefectly-dripped stain that fell between the 2 panes of glass of the stove front - he showed me the steps of how to take it apart and then advised me not to! He says he often has customers tell him they wish they'd never taken this type of stove front apart because it is so hard to get back together correctly that they have to made a service call. Hmmm... ... he left me to think about that after writing a $200 check for today's work and time spent.

Also the heat situation at my ddad's house has now been proven to have nothing to do with the fuel, of which there's plenty. The first repair call is still unanswered and so the appliance repair man recommended someone he says will call back fast and be honest. We're almost ready to call that person and then call the other and say never mind.

My dear uncle88, who is my neighbor, called to talk to me today about the pressure he feels to sell his place. With high taxes and his dear wife's health, financial concerns are mounting. On the other hand, the city/county is talking to him about selling to them, but they want all, and want to move very slowly. When he says he'll just sell a small lot, then, to someone to build a house instead, so he can make ends meet now, they are very negative about it. It's unclear whether they are saying they don't want new houses built (scary thought when I consider ds' hopes) or saying they don't want him to deal with anyone but them. All in all, he is worried, and also worried about me, as I will of course be affected by whatever happens. The buying up of land all around us by the city/county is sobering, especially since some has been at least partially forced sales. He says he doesn't think he can hold out more than a year on the money he and my aunt have left.

While the freezer was completely empty I washed down all the interior walls. I need to wash the baskets and put them back in, but my knees were protesting all the up-and-down! So maybe this has been enough of a break.

By the way, the last time I had the fridge worked on, according to a search, was Aug 30 2011 and then it was a bad electronic board that cost $275. Just keeping tabs, here.

Hi everyone! Last night I went to bed early knowing I would have to get DD10 to school early today. I also did grocery shopping, cooked mongolian beef (a pain, but delicious), and made my lunch for today.

Today my main accomplishment was to get DD to school on time! YEAH!!! Then I made the mistake of going back to bed and overslept and got in late. THEN, when I went to put on my computer glasses, found them broken. I got them repaired and my regular glasses adjusted. Today I am reading at payroll. Posting this is my reward for finishing a document. I have several others to go and a chapter of a book to read (not all today, of course).

Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD, who wants to eat chinese and go to Chuck E Cheese. After she has gone back to XDH, I need to unclog the bathtub drain, put trash out, and pick up for the maids tomorrow.

So I got home from work and rather than sit down or lay down (which I wanted to do) I moved EVERYTHING (including Maxie) to one side of the Kitchen and began scrubbing the floor. I got most of the baseboards and the worst spots on the kitchen floor scrubbed with my floor scrub brush. Whe the DBoys got home I had DS19 take over scrubbing (my shoulder had started hurting) and had DS13 wipe them off w/ a clean wet sponge. DS19 then mopped the floor with S imple G reen. I now need to go in and mop w/ the acrylic. Once it is dried I will move everything back and do the other side. I will then call the kitchen down until it pops back up on F Lyladies site.

Lilac - feel better soon, plenty of water and cranberry juice. Congratulations to your family!!!

Harriet - Your DS sounds a lot like DS19 although school he did not want to put up with the immaturity of the teen girls. Now he will proudly tell his buddies that he is still a virgin and proud of it... he tells them that he has yet to meet any one worth that kind of commitment.
