Lilac - I'm dancing with you & Dfamily over the great news!

Sadie - you got the right insurance company! We have been with them for years, but they are cancelling everyone here that lives outside of the city limits. Our agent is also our neighbor (1 mile away). He did tell us the home office is approving limited amounts of home/farm insurance for customers who also have their vehicles insured with the company. So.....today we moved our vehicle insurance over to them and have applied with the home office for an exception to keep our home insurance. He said it might take a week to receive an answer. I don't know whether to cancel our vehicle insurance with other company or hold on to it until we find out if our renewal of home insurance with OFB is approved. If it isn't approved we aren't going to keep vehicles insured with them (more $$ for same coverage).

Harriet - I feel your unease about land around you. DNephew just purchased the 160 acres directly across the road from us so we are safe from them developing that piece of property. Otherwise our land is surrounded by houses.

Forgot to post before that for my tralala Tues. I was humming on my walk this morning. A definite improvement on my mood!

I've mopped the bathrooms yea for progress.
Having some tea (_)p now it's nice out too bad I have the leaves done until the next batch of them falls. The bags of those are in the play house for bedding chickens are fine in the temps. we've been having.

Have the craft examples in the car ready to take to church next time we go.

I've been thinking what to take for turkey dinner; froz. veg. do not seem quite special enough, Jello salad [orange] but dd does not eat that much, relish tray, pumpkin pie that they don't like. Sigh or deviled eggs! I'm now the potential deviled egg person LOL!

Still haven't heard from the nurse. Of course, my imagination just runs away with many scary scenarios. Dd1 just told me that our pharmacy closes at 7:00. Unless I hear something quick, I won't know anything until morning. If that is the case, then I should have just waited. I needed to go the store and buy the sale items, as today is the last day. Instead, I have been waiting........ I have been working on laundry. I have all of dhs shirts ironed. I hate when I get behind on that.

So I asked the DK's to wipe down the doors and trim in the Kitchen... but DS13 has homework so I finally nagged DS19 enough to get him off the computer but then he started using the scrub brush rather than a sponge and got water all over my mopped floor. I have now banned him from using the scrub brush on the trim and have him scrubbing the nasty spots on the other half of the floor. DS13 has now completed his homework and is wiping down the trim. ;) Once DS19 is done scrubbing I will mop w/ S imple G reen and then w/ the acrylic.

Dd2 just called. Dgd16s test showed that her gall bladder is only functioning at 16% and they are being referred to a surgeon. Dd2 is feeling bad because she thought it was all in her head.

ellyphant, I made a link to that smart idea you posted in the Holiday thread!

scattered that is wonderful about your ds19. Ideal. I probably should have said above that it was that particular attractive girl, with her drama, that ds27 avoided even though he liked her, mostly because he was so peer conscious. And I'm not at all sure it's to his credit that he was so influenced by what other guys might think about her drama, but he was. He was always my most peer-conscious child, something I tried to discourage. He did find a very nice girlfriend whom dd14 adored, and they dated a long time. We all thought she was the one, including her parents who held a party for them - oops. Wise women here got me through that social difficulty, first the ill-advised party, and very soon thereafter the break-up. (Sigh) As I've said here before, ds was often found looking out of windows after that, staring into space. That'll break a Mom's heart! Oh well, he and ddil are happy and secure now, and interestingly the old girlfriend's brother is still one of ds' best friends.

Disappointing email from dd32 and it looks like, for them, our travel direction will be after both the upcoming TDay and Christmas holidays again this year. (again. sigh.) They can drive in on the day after each holiday. I have to think about this. I will probably enjoy Thanksgiving with the rest of the family and let it go. But I might ask everyone to postpone until the day after Christmas. I think if I don't I might be penalizing myself, since what I really want for Christmas is the whole family together - photos of lots of us together or in different pairings, this aunt with that niece, this uncle with that nephew, that sort of thing.

The freezer section of my fridge looks like it did in the showroom. :D Of course this means I am without frozen foods ... ... :|

((Lilac)), usually the first suggestion from a surgeon for a gall bladder patient is to go on a low-fat diet and see if that helps. They don't automatically start saying they are going to do surgery. This could still be something dgd lives with successfully by modifying her diet. I think coconut oil is allowed on low-fat diets now, too, making them much less difficult since you can still fry things, just need to do it at home. I hope the news from this point on becomes more positive!

Lilac, happy for your good news -- and concerned for your dgd16. ((HUGS))

It is our hope that our children will save certain activities for their wedding nights. ;) We have taught them such and the reasons why, as has our church youth group. However, we all know people are not infallible. Still, that is our hope.

Well, I tralala-ed so well this afternoon -- I got sucked into my book. I spent 2 more hours than intended reading -- or rather, skimming -- and many things did not get done here b/c of that.
Done:
x menu plan
/ a.m. routine -- didn't get to making the bed or doing laundry
x bank to return an ATM card that had been left in the slot yesterday; the bank was closed so I couldn't return it yesterday - I hadn't realized that at first. I decided to keep the card safe until I could bring it to the bank today. Later, I remembered that ATMs will "eat" cards left in the slot after a while. However, there was a car in line behind me and I was running late to pick up dd14 for her Dr. appt. I didn't have the time to wait for the machine to eat the card even if I had remembered that fact. . . . .
x GFS - restock on some moms group items
x groc. store
x lunch -- and reading my John Steinbeck novel. 3 hours later. . . . .
x got the crockpot going with supper
x made a phone call re: letters from insurance stating that our 3 kids PCP had been switched. It was a mistake.
x took dd14 to her oboe lesson
x worked on some Hebrew at the nearby cafe
x pickup dd14, went home, got supper on the table

Kitchen is about half cleaned up. Dfriend called this evening, and I chatted w/ her for a while. Dh is out to his ceramics class. The girls are doing homework. I have sent out some more emails. . .I am eating nonstop. However, I need to get the girls moving to help me finish the kitchen. And I need to do some laundry; dh leaves tomorrow for a business trip, not sure where.

Dfriends, including my ex-Hebrew tutor who ushered me into the Hebrew classes at UM, will be arriving tomorrow evening to stay the night. They are en route to Chicago for a big conference in his area, Jewish Studies. He is now a prof. in upstate NY. She was a good friend of mine -- and she will be back here over the weekend, so I'll get to see her more Saturday and maybe Sunday!! :)

I had a somewhat unorthodox way of teaching my children about sexual relationships. Pre-martial sex is not against my religious beliefs, but not taking responsibility (i.e. STD's or babies) for your actions is, they have been taught since I deemed they were mature enough that Sex is not just physical but that it is also emotional and has ramifications above and beyond the physical. They have also been told that should they hurt a young woman they will not have to worry about the Girls Dad... I will deal with them personally. DS19 has never really been concerned with what his peers think... he has always had his own strict code of morality. He would have made a perfect Knight centuries ago. Not sure what will happen with DS13 since he hasn't even hit pubitity yet.

Okay the floor is drying!!! WooHoo! The trim has been cleaned, and it is now cleaner than it has been in years! Waiting for the floor to dry so that we can get the cookies.

Dgd & I made cupcakes then she fell asleep just before her mom got here. So I sent some home with her unfrosted. Told H. he could take all but one to work with him calling them muffins for the guys removing temptation. I rode 1 mi. on the ex. bike then realized it was probably warm enough to finish my walk so I did that. Before mentioned is my plan for staying on my program. I'm not energetic enough to post in the health and fitness forum.

Dinner is done.
