Re: Friday Errands
such sadness for the families of all - there is no rhyme or reason -
I am trying to stay focused on what I need to do for my family and myself - still in 3 season room after picking up dd younger.

Re: Friday Errands
Dh told me when I met him to go jogging. I'm not sure how he knew; maybe someone at work/one of his students had heard about it. So so sad and senseless. Praying for all those affected.
Happy movies sounds like a great idea, nancy! We're going out to eat with dd17 after dh gets home; he is stopping by his ceramics class.

Re: Friday Errands
Good afternoon everyone! I cooked so much last night, I have no more containers left. However, I also have cube steak in the crock pot today. I should have a scrupmptious smelling house when I get home. Despite all this food at home, today is lunch with friends day. Tonight, I am going to see DD10 sing at her school's Holiday Fun Night.
Turns out tomorrow is not a good River of Lights night, DD is in a parade, so I will be going to that instead. Last year, I walked with her, I don't know if she will want that this year.
I have not heard from the body shop about my car. I hope it is ready by Sunday. Sunday, I have to haul three cats to the adoption clinic and I hope they fit in the rental!
Some good news: either the increase in thyroid medicine is giving me more energy or I am getting a beneficial placebo effect!

Re: Friday Errands
My students told me about the shooting. NP students were on internet and saw the news. I shared with class I had that period; maybe I shouldn't have? But in a high school like ours, if one student knows something, they all know it soon, so probably didn't make any difference if I told them or not. But just so shocking. How anyone could target small children like that...
Makes you think it's not really a bad idea to hunker down and never leave home again...
But that's not a reasonable course of action. Must go to the mall tonight, and then dmom would love for me to take her back tomorrow... or next week... * sigh * I don't see how I can do it tomorrow at all. We are keeping dgs for a few hours, and I really have to get papers graded in preparation for exams next week.
And start wrapping some of the stuff I've bought!
Maybe Thursday, when I get out early, we can go.
Still no word from our car, either, Elizabeth. * sigh *
Errands done --
* got dnephew's shirt & shorts on order, must be screenprinted.
* got dbro local np subscription renewed... same ole, same ole gift, but dmom says she thinks he likes it
* talked to dmil
* talked to dmom
* wrote check for electric bill & got checkbook subtracted (about six checks behind)

Re: Friday Errands
Long day here.
Saw the news on in the waiting room at the hospital so sat with my back to the tv (volume was off.) Dh mentioned it when he picked us up and we listened to one news report and then turned off all other mentions of it. Thankfully, we have the satellite radio in the car which is commercial/news free.
Only did 3 devotions while waiting and no invitations done.
Asked my friend if she wanted me to come in and she said "If you wish" so I did because I always feel it is good to have a scribe in the room. You don't always hear or recall all the info in these appointments. As well, she couldn't remember when her pre-op was at the other hospital and I happen to have all her appointments in my purse calendar (and google calendar, just in case she needs me to drive) so I could answer that question.
The pre-op today took 2:15 and then we had lunch (at 2:30.) Dh called just as we were settling in to wait for him and by the time we got to the front door of the hospital, he was driving up.
We had a million errands to run and they were all done and she was home by 5, we were home at 5:45 (one more grocery store.) I let her pay for gas, my lunch and she gave me $10 card for a drug store which I used to buy her gingerale for operation day and milk for myself. Then I spent the milk money on a poinsettia for myself from the grocery store.
The freezer is filled to overflowing.
Ds has left for the party tonight but will be back here tomorrow to do laundry and to pick up the rest of his stuff. He may or may not sleep over again.
I'm off for a brief lie-down. I normally nap listening to the radio but will put on something else instead.

Elizabeth - BWTG on cooking ahead!
Blessed - You did it!! Congrat's on getting the 3 season room decluttered.
DSon called to say he and DGS6 are on their way here. They are coming a day early! DDIL and DGD1 will arrive tomorrow. Not entirely sure why they are driving separately and on different days, but it COULD have a tiny little bit to do with DSon getting a new car this week. I suspect he wants to road test it?
I thought it is classified as SUV (Infinity), however apparently it isn't big enough for 2 adults, 2 children car seats, 2 dogs plus luggage and STUFF. I don't care if they arrive in a covered wagon. I don't care if I can't get everything ready a day early. I am just filled full of joy they are coming!!!
I'm so very much looking forward to the next couple of days!

Re: Friday Errands
Up from rest. Didn't sleep but lay very quiet.
My knee was fine all day. Did 3700 steps between hospital and shopping and the up and down the basement stairs a few times. Started up to the bedroom to lie down and Poof! it went out. After 40 minutes rest it isn't better so I have my cane out now. Stairs obviously have something to do with it but I'm not sure what since I successfully was up and down them at least 3x since getting home.

Re: Friday Errands
I now have news on the car: it will not be ready until Monday. This might seem a problem, but it is not. I have some stuff that needs to be straightened out with the insurance company, and extra time is ok. The only problem is that I will not be able to haul stuff from the cat clinic Sunday, because it is not a station wagon.
I have sent an email about a cat who needs surgery. I got a lead on a program that does surgeries for rescue groups. The only potential problem is that it may not be a surgery they do. However, we have an estimate from a specialist and it is not too horrible. It is not one of my fosters. I have talked to XDH and now I know where to meet DD10 for the singing tonight. He is going to contact me about where to meet her for the parade tomorrow. AND I now have DD on Monday for the River of Lights. She will spend Monday night with me and I have to get her to school Tuesday.
Kathryn: It is a VERY good idea to have a scribe when someone is in the hospital. My last trip, I did not remember much. At my follow-up appointment, I was asked which tests were performed and I had no memory of ANY tests. The specialist had to look it up.

Re: Friday Errands
Still haven't gotten anything done, partly do to watching TV, partly do to a sour stomach (not sure why but it really is icky), partly to do with finally being able to get the initial phone interview done for the Refinancing. Loan guy was finally able to connect with Mother, so he called and was able to get the initial info completed. My payment will be dropping by almost $400, it will be $400 for me because I round up my payment.
Between that and the end of my car note I will be saving $650 a month.
Which will equal out with my decreased salary.

I am really tired, I think I will head to bed early... but first I am going to try to eat.
