Blessed - your evening sounds wonderful! I'm so glad you had such a good time.

Supper was spaghetti. One cup of spaghetti. Not all I wanted to eat, but I am happy that the portion size was planned and followed through on it.

Almost ready to go to Wednesday night church service. Since LO doesn't have school tomorrow, I can attend and stay up an hour after LO normal bedtime.

Christmas Presents to us!!!!
First was card from DD#2 - she had already sent cookies and now sent gift cards to a couple restaurants and one to Lowes.

Then I got a package from friends in FL. It contained 2 of her DDilove's books. Sara M. Ross is the author. Writes young adult fiction. I have read the books on K but now I have autographed copies.

The 4th author I know is Sharlene Minshall, who published her first book this summer. She has written for RV mags for years but now has a novel out.

I have met many more at RV Rallies and book signings - but these are the people who know my name.

Time to clean Santa's workshop off the kitchen table and get moving on something to eat.

DH went to hunt for a knob, which broke that is on the handle of the control on our car for the heat, A/C and stuff. He ended up at the dealership's garage in the end. He called me when he pulled in to Safeway. It was nice. I set my timer for 45 min. and walked in large loop areas for 45 min. around and around and up and down the halls. It's very, very gusty with 60 m. p. h. higher gusts at times with pouring rains. DH was so tired when he got home. We're going to split a steak for dinner.

I've been working on the dog toy today. The arms and legs are stuffed and sewn on, but I just read I need to crochet a 2nd muzzle. I'm tired, napped 1 hour after DH got home, and helped him put everything away. Thought I'd take a break before dinner, before I get back to the dog. I have gotten out the gift bags and found the tissue papers with festive designs on them, too. I probably won't wrap/bag gifts until tomorrow.

I got a sweet letter from someone today, one of my regular pen pals, with my name, only we spell our first names differently. She told me she wishes her name was Sheila, so I thought I'd write, "Dear Sheilia a.k.a..... with her 1st name" on letters from now on, to make her smile. She's a lovely person. Just lost a beloved pet to cancer, which started in her dog's foot.

DH is watching "Baseball" by Ken Burns, the last chapter, for 3 hours tonight. I like it because not only for the fact of being educational, the talking and music are quiet and relaxing.

MT, One of my pen pals has a book coming out now or shortly after Christmas. I'll have to ask her the title again and I don't know if she's using a pen name or not. I believe it's a mystery and it's called, "Last Dance".

Speaking of authors. I'd written a thank you letter to Debbie Macomber thanking her for her free autographed copy of "Cedar Cove Cookbook". She wrote me today, sent her photo, a Christmas card, letter, and a lot of recipe cards, which also state who the recipe came from and how they relate to her, either personally or professionally. It was a perker-upper to my day. She's such a lovely person. Very down-to-earth and friendly, too. It shows in her writing.

Back from a long, long, day.

Shopping went ok. Tomorrow morning my task is to go over everything I bought and take stock of the situation.

Got home at 4:10. Had to leave again at 4:45 so I lay down for 15 minutes and then got up, dressed, straightened my hair, put on makeup and barreled out the door.

Christmas dinner was great. The singing even better. These guys sang out so much more than when we saw many of them 2 weeks ago. I suspect it was the wine with dinner!

Picked up a couple of groceries. Came home and returned phone calls.

My senior friend goes in for her kidney surgery tomorrow so we had a long talk (she's scared.) Almost immediately after that call, my childhood best friend called and we chatted for over an hour.

I'm exhausted but have sent out an email and will head off to bed now. I have to provide the communion tomorrow, I think, but wanted to confirm before I went to bother of either baking bread in the morning or buying some on my way to the service.

Dgd16 looked so good when I went to see her. I stayed about an hour and a half. Her dad, dd2 and I were there. Her dad later picked the boys up from school and brought them to see her. You could see they were worried and then relieved to see her doing all right. It had started snowing by then so I came home. I wanted to fix chili for supper. Dd2 had to go back to the shop and set up for the party tonight. The boys and their dad were going to nursing homes, starting at 5 to give out blankets with their church group. Dgd16s boyfriend stayed with her while dd2 was gone. Dd2 brought the 2 little girls over here, so that their dad could pick them up on his way home. They wanted bananas but they were too green, so I offered them little cups of applesauce. Once they were done with that dgd3 said the chili smelled good and wanted some. So I fixed them each a small bowl. After they finished we went to the playroom and worked on puzzles until their dad came. Dd2 called and said that when dgd16 was released her boyfriend offered to drive her home, since dd2 needed to pick up her RX for pain and buy groceries in case they are snowed in tomorrow and she also needed to buy food that dgd16 can eat. By the time dd2 headed home it was really windy and visability was next to none. I was so relieved when she called to say she was safe at home. Dsonil said he had to drive 20 mph on the way home from the farm and this was on the highway. The state had plowed and left big frozen balls all over the highway. Still no word if they are going to cancel school tomorrow.

I am so relieved that the surgery is over and dgd16 is home.

I am wore out. My bs has been messed up today due to stress. It sure can do a number on me.

Coming by our village for a break with my sewing.
Wow, I've been lamenting all that still needs done before the holiday, but at least I don't have to do any of it in freezing rain or snow! Stay safe everyone!

OKay thanks for the raisin/gin recipe. Let us know how that works for DM. I am interested. DH's joints are pretty bad with his hip and all. Mine flares every once in a while. BWTG with DGD gifts and LO card. You are the most thoughtful person I know.

Wonder how Scattered's 1st day went? Ivy, I'm glad your DGD did so well.
Nancy, now I'm picturing your chickens taking turns blow-drying their feathers at your dryer vent!

Harriet, surprised at what dr. said about DDad's appetite. Maybe there was a good reason for it and it's fixable. Interesting about the duck people. I forgot to watch tonight, but checking the tv it appears there wasn't a new episode anyway? They run them here (back ones) up into the night.

This morning early was the mailing at church, then a single retired woman caught me and wanted to talk. Chat was interesting all about her teaching experiences in our county, etc., but I didn't have that hour to waste, though I kept telling myself this is a gift to her to sit and listen...

2 banks, then county office for truck tags, stop at quilt shop for synthropol; they were less than helpful but did have the product; mail had Christmas cards that were touching to me. One relative has died and daughter now wants to keep in touch (she's in Arizona, I've never had any contact with her but did with her parents). Other x-relative sent picture and said his year was better than last (his wife died last year after long illness). So I just had to get my cards out and did that as fast as I've ever done before, complete with a couple lines inside each...and my 1 Christmas letter to dfriend...14 waiting for the mailman tomorrow.

Low blood sugar had me craving bacon & pancakes so I made that for dinner and promptly fell asleep for 3 hours. Now I'm back to my sewing for a bit.

Just seen on TV that they have cancelled school here tomorrow. If schools are closed then the daycare closes, too. Dd2 has decided to be closed when school is closed due to weather.

I'm trying to get my bs up, so I can go to bed. It never fails, if I am really tired and want to go to bed, then I can't because it's running low.
