I have far more than I expected on my plate for today. When I started counting up last night, I felt a bit overwhelmed and then didn't sleep well. I was up at six and have been surfing a bit and trying to write for temple bulletin. I can write well in my head, but when I type and write it doesn't flow.
PODA:
-write for temple bulletin (actually, I can wrap this up later or tomorrow, it won't be printed until Wednesday)
-straighten up for cleaning lady
-pull together info for an 11 a.m. temple meeting today
-wrap presents for great nieces and nephew, from us and also gifts from my dmom
-deliver those gifts to dmom, along with her cash for gifts
-tonight go to dfriends for their Christmas Eve dinner
Now.....
-empty dishwasher
-straighten/clear kitchen counters
-straighten MBR and bath
-do homework for 11 a.m. meeting
My right knee is stiff and achy today for some reason. Going to also take two ibuprofen now that I've had breakfast.
The Christmas Eve dinner with friends is my birthday celebration! We love being with them.

Happy Birthday, dTwins!!
Hope your knee feels better as the day goes on. I can't put any weight on my right one (i.e. stairs). But now my left is bothering me a lot too. And I'm in "sunny" FL.
I'm sipping coffee and dsonil is making eggs. So will have some of that in a few minutes.

Re: Celebrating Monday!
I have a curious question of multi sister families. When it comes for you, do sister in laws do you invite them on gatherings? Not having a sister I have had to learn that they do everything together and when it comes to even our kids they love them but are left out a lot because they are not the sisters children. I know it's not intentional - they plan things to fit their families and at times wait to early morning to mention a big event esp. when they know we have something going on. Is that something that happens in big families with multiple sisters. It hurts dd younger alot as many of the kids are her age of sil's. I am thinking it's just that "they" are the sisters and that's the time they want, it isn't a thought - they are just the sisters - it started years ago and has gotten worse.
an acquaintance of mine had 6 sisters and 1 sil - the sisters always did things together and couldn't understand why the sil and her kids would be hurt. is it just a way of thinking? just curious especially since I don't have a sister. there is no right or wrong but I am trying to understand the thinking to make it easier for dd.

Re: Celebrating Monday!
Blessed: I have the same situation with dh's sisters. The three of them are very close and I'm a 'visitor.' They are cordial but only one evokes warm feelings in me. On the other hand, I live far away and they live closer to each other (an hour separates the farthest apart of them.) As well, my dmil never felt I'd stick around (I was married before and left my first dh partly for her son so she thought I'd do the same to him) so she didn't include me in family photos, for instance.
Dh has also chosen to distance himself from his sisters. For instance, he gets the feeling our lifestyle makes them jealous so we don't even send them our family newsletter. Now that his parents are dead, there's no conduit for our news to them.
On the other hand, our niece got married and no-one told us for months and months (we found out by accident.)
My kids only like the cousins that are kids of the one sister I feel warm towards, the others they avoid like crazy (and I'm relieved, they are drug users and make questionable choices like marrying inmates - that's why we didn't hear about the wedding.)

Happy Birthday Twins!
I'm up The less noisy of the roos woke me up at 6:30 today.
I'd not turned on the light but I think the neighbors had gotten up and turned some Christmas lights on. I got up started coffee feeling rough a bit still. [Glad I did stuff last night. If I don't do much today it will be good enough.]
After a few min. it's quiet now so that' good.
I'll feed them in a few min. when it's lighter outside.
H. is up. We had some rain last night supposed to get more today and maybe even some snow 1 " we will see.

Why oh why? Situation up home in J&C has 2 firefighters killed and others injured so far. My heart is heavy for all those 1st responders. We've been keeping abreast while doing last minute grocery shopping.
Know our own fire dept is gathering as I speak for however they're needed.
Dd now has eye appointment. Don't mean to be a 'downer' this morning.

Re: Celebrating Monday!
blessed and Kathryn, I'm in a very similar situation - but also with some differences - regarding dh's 5 sisters. Yes, dh is the only boy in a family of 6 kids. There are sort of 2 sets of sister groups in the family. His 3 older sisters are very tight, all being born within 4? years of each other - dh was born one year later, so his parents had 4 kids in 5 years.
His 2 younger sisters are also very tight, being twins and 12 years younger than dh, the previous youngest sibling. I guess I figure this is expected, especially since they all live in Europe and we don't. However, I did notice that when we were having babies, there were clothes and special family heirloom toys that got handed down to all the children, including one of the twins' whose children are significantly younger than the rest - except for ours. This twin was living in the US when she had babies #2 and #3 and she still received the hand-me-downs, so distance was not the main factor in our being left out of this. This did hurt my feelings a little, but it did not hurt dh's, and I try not to dwell on it. I know the sisters also call each other regularly, like more than once/week; I used to feel left out for dh (not myself; I'm not a phone person), but it didn't bother him too much. Really, in our case, the distance is the defining thing and being of a different culture may be a small factor too. When we're with the family in Europe, the sisters are quite friendly.
My kids don't know their European cousins too well b/c they only see them every 2 years. They probably get along best with one set of British cousins, all boys, the youngest the same age as ds, the children of dh's oldest sister -- b/c we've done more with them. We see them more when in NL and we a tour of Western US with them a couple summers ago. I email a couple times a year w/ this sister; she is the only one I email with regularly. She is also the only one of the older group not employed at the moment so we have that in common. I'd say our lifestyles are all pretty similar and on the same level, though we're in the US and the rest are in Europe. The whole clan is pretty well-matched education-wise, faith-wise, and taste-wise also, more or less. Maybe this is not helpful b/c my kids' feelings are not hurt by the sisters' closeness and b/c the differences in relationships is understandable to me since we live on different continents.
