Choir practice is done. Will do physio now, then ice my jaw since all this singing is hard on it.

I went over to the church an hour before practice to turn on the heat and ran into two other people who had the same idea! It is nice that we all just pitch in to do what needs to be done. One of the other two isn't even in the choir but noted that we had choir practice tonight.

Dh and I had leftover roast beef for dinner. He took the remaining gravy and made a hot roast beef sandwich. I fried up onions and green pepper, then added in my cut up meat and heated it through. Put all that in a pita bread and ate it that way. Very good so I have a way of using up beef when there isn't gravy. Forgot to add celery but will try and remember that for next time.

I need to remember to make a stew on Friday for Saturday night. We are doing a choir event on Saturday afternoon (a prolific hymn writer is doing a cross-Canada tour, holding events at small churches - and afternoon workshop for choirs and an evening concert.) The town is much larger than ours but we've been told to bring a 'brown-bag' lunch because there are only three restaurants in town and they all serve pizza! The next nearest town is 20 minutes away and there's not enough time between the workshop and concert to go out for dinner so we'll all bring our own meals and eat together. There are at least 6 from our churches going so we'll have a good time even if everyone else is awful! (And they sound wonderful from the emails so I don't think they'll be awful!)

Back from another day of carving and a quick trip to the Dr. for follow-up from DH's bad hip.

Diagnosed as bursitis. Said it might never happen again or it could happen next week. Nothing dangerous - just hurts. Cortisone shot and walker if it happens again.

Carving is going well. I'm almost done with the relief carving. Next I will wood burn highlights on it and then "paint" it with colored pencils. I'm carving a sample (on a scrap piece of wood) of the leaves and the feathers so I have something to try out the wood burning on.

I might start carving on a totem pole (only 1 foot high) tomorrow after I get the relief carving done. I think they look pretty neat.

We also have a cardio Dr. appointment tomorrow morning at 8:15.

One of the hens was sluggish after the all you can eat worm buffet when we spaded up the earth where the crab grass was today.

Neighbors are working on their place and one of the cars, the dogs have been unusually obnoxious today! ACK!

I got home found out I'd missed dgson; dd for got to tell me he was coming here after school [early release day today]. Dgd & I were over town McDonald Land was closed for repairs. So we went to the fabric store that was fun picking out fabric to sew. Got dgson from the job site and he was here about the regular after school time. He did home work while I sewed and dgd played with scraps.

Dgd helped me filled plastic eggs for the egg hunt at church and we made cookies too. H. got some wood scraps that we can use for bbq frame. He got them at one of sil's job sites, they have two crews working now, So it was a productive day here. Dd thought the kids were all wound up when she came but it was like that today most of the day with dgd she's excited about Easter and getting to do to the other granny's again now and doing something new like sewing with me and a new blanket.

The other granny is doing better after her surgery and is taking dgd on Wed. now. Dgson will be here after school early release day tomorrow.

Wind warnings here for tomorrow up to 50 mph gusts ack don't need that!

Harriet - there are many changes in colour in nature here quite apart from blossom. Some trees shed their bark to become green, or white, or pink - looking all fresh and clean. New leaf often bursts forth in colour - pink or lime or lightest green. Flowers often change colour too - from pink to almost a pale lemon.
The names of our seasons came with the English/British. I'm not sure if it was australia wide, but I heard of some aboriginals who had 6 seasons of 2 months, that varied with prevailing winds and conditions. "build up" (meaning building heat and humidity though the summer storms haven't arrived yet) is the northern territory is called mango season - after man go mad.) A fair portion of the north is in the tropics so "winter" just means the sun is not overhead for a bit.
Remember too Australia is about the same size as USA (without Alaska) so comparing what is written for the south - where the writer you quoted obviously lives - with the north or inland, is like comparing Minnosotia (sry sp) with New Mexico. Different things are happening at different times in different places.

yesterday I put the old tv in the car ready for a special free drop off at the dump. Overnight I remembered I needed to take the wheeled stand off it, so I did that this morning - glad of my drill/driver. After yoga today I made my first visit to the dump. I had to look up a map yesterday.
Pd bills today.

Cathy - Hope you feel better soon.
Just begin.
