Happy Birthday Harriet!

Today I got up at 4:45 a.m. w/ hubby who had a co. meeting this morning. I got up on the wrong side of the bed today but have had an attitude adjustment so I'm fine now!
Okay  at reading that you had to go to the storm celler and stuff blew around! O.M.Goodness. Storms were all around my family in ark but not actually in their county yesterday from what I could tell on the TV.

Happy Birthday, Harriet! Hope you have a great day.

We are off to the thyroid Dr. This is a new one so expect it will be a long appointment.

But I will get to play with my new phone on the way there. :D

Finished the sermon enough to put it in the service document. I still have to write the prayers of the people and edit the sermon some more but the bulk of the service is now done.

My senior friend won't go out today because it is too hot and humid, so I've heated up some leftovers for my lunch. Dinner is in the crock pot. The crock pot is on the balcony. No heating devices will be turned on in the house today!

I sat on the front porch while my hair dried and read the newspaper.

Echoing happy comments here that OK and family and property are largely OK after the tornado whooshed by.

I tried lying down but neighbors (multiple ones) are having yard work done, and it is kind of noisy b/c the windows are open. There is a drizzle of rain falling now. I think I'll just get the grocery shopping out of the way now. I need to pick up dd17 from school at 2:30 today. S2's 2 little boys will be here at 2:45 for dd17 to babysit. They'll be picked up at 4, when dd17's small group will arrive and take over the main floor of this house for 2 hours. At that point, I may retreat to the play room and try to do some emails and maybe take a nap. I just hope they leave at 6 rather than hanging around until 6:30/7:00 as has happened before. . . My next duty will then be to pick up Dd15 from driving at 8 pm. Dh's plane lands at 8:30, I believe. . . .

I'm home from errand run this morning and have started challah in breadmaker. Dd and friend have been picked so house is quiet. I'm going to have a nap also. The follow up appt for the sleep apnea is July 1, I think; my feeling is that I'm not any more rested these days than before I started the dental appliance for apnea. I could be wrong, but some days I just run out of steam in the afternoon.

I'll set a timer and be up when the challah is ready to shape.

Ds and I have framed two of the canvas printed photos, one mine, one his. So that's two more vulnerable items off the floor in the basement (two left to find a place for, one his, one mine.) While he was measuring and prepping, I put 5 boxes of 'garage sale' items in the car to be taken over to the church. Will do that before dinner. I'm not looking forward to doing the stairs at the church but perhaps I can convince ds to help me.

Garbage cans are in. Made a lumbar support pillow for the car (dh's inflatable no longer holds air so I stuffed it with some extra pillow stuffing I found in my dejunking.)

MT - what kind of phone did you get?

Back from town. It was a double happy time. :D :D DGS16 and I spent 5 hours together with him talking the whole time. I know how private teenage boys can be, so I feel privileged for him to use me as a sounding board. I had a very pleasant surprise when I weighed in at WW. I lost 1.8 lbs

Yuck. Ugh. Really? Again? I just checked FB and saw the extreme tornado warnings. They say we have 90% chance to experience the worst kind of tornadoes over the next few hours. cut/paste from weather page...... you have to get to a place that has an underground shelter. I cannot stress this enough so please understand the magnitude of the event that I am telling you
I sure hope they miss the tornado forecast. Thinking positive.....we do have 10% chance that they are wrong!

They can be wrong, OK, but I'm sure glad you have a cellar at your place. Oh, I hope nothing comes your way, though. . . .

I've had little victories today. I can't officially say my a.m .routine is done - b/c my bed is still unmade. Other than that, it is done.

Other things I have accomplished: (I like writing these out b/c then I can see that I have actually accomplished some things, even when it feels like I haven't.)
x picked up dd17 from school at 2:30
x 2 phone calls to educational office in Illinois re: my teaching certificate. It looks like it can be reinstated!! :) - with penalty fines. It may be worth it, even if I'm not planning on teaching in Illinois. At this point, I also doubt I'll ever be teaching anyone other than college age +, but one never knows. . . . It might look good on my resume. I hadn't renewed it for 20 years or kept up with appropriate continuing ed, though I did get my MA in the meantime. That doesn't count.
x figured out that dd15's subscription to a quilting magazine was in fact renewed
x made reservations for a favorite interior Mexican restaurant in Austin for Tuesday night.
x tidied hot spot granite island which is reasonable now; the girls still need to put away their stuff
x living room is better - not perfect.
x play room is better too. Dd17 tidied a bit while babysitting, and I came down and put away gift wrapping stuff that has been lying out since we celebrated ds' bday 2 weeks ago.
x started 2nd load of towels.
x quick email reply to dh who has had a stressful day at a professional workshop (I don't know if he was leading or attending) while at the same time trying to get a paper or 2 in shape for a submission deadline today. . . . He needed Hermione's time turner today. He survived and is at the boston airport now.
x puppy care as needed; she has had 2 accidents so far today. This has not been a great puppy day in our house.

I'm not feeling tired anymore despite not getting a nap, so that passed. . . .

I'm going to go to the groc. store now, even though it is probably crowded.
