Tuesday Out of the Comfort Zone

Oh my, Nancy, some of your posts about the chickens! Yikes!

(Elyphant) (Dee) Looked like a couple hugs were in order today.

I've just been working on paperwork. 1 bill paid, statement made, 2 cards written, signed, everything in the mailbox. Did my Committee minutes and emailed to our head for any corrections/additions. They were complicated this time and a couple important issues with changes were discussed and I didn't want to get it wrong. I am lucky that our committee is very unified, kind loving gals I serve with and we rarely if ever have any disagreements.

Looks like rain later today. I have a couple bank stops to make and that's about it for today.

Checking in. . Feeling stressed. J will be here in maybe 1.25 hours and her room is not ready yet.

I have:
x gotten haircut, which took about 2.75 hours, including travel time. She was running about 30 minutes late which didn't help.
x made menu plan and groc. list
x gone to the groc. store
x paid home insurance bill. I'm very grateful they sent an email reminder. It was overdue and I had no idea! We're also late with summer property taxes this year. This is the first time ever I've been late with those 2 items, which gives one an idea to how busy life has been here. There are so many other things that are demanding my attention. Speaking of which. .

Next:
- finish putting away groceries
- get the room ready
- spiff the living areas

I'll start cooking at 5. I switched the weekly menu plan around so now I'm making curry to use up some leftover turkey in the freezer. I'll heat up some naan and steam a cauliflower to go with it.

This is definately out of my comfort zone:

The trash this week that is and I had to clean out the can and the chickens loved the creepy crawly things that were it that ended up on the in the yard today. The smell was atrocious but they loved it and in the bee fly trap just as bad that I emptied some of it out and they had a hay day with that as well.

I've started a load of laundry. Worked a bit more on the back fence line getting it pruned up. I still need to sweep but that will be in the morning when it's cooler.

I've done the first two from my previous li&t. I've done a bit of #3 too, spiffed the bathroom, cleared most things that I can from the island. I'm going to start supper and clean up the kitchen at the same time.

A funny thing happened on our way to the park in ND - we ended up in SD.

The park in ND was a hilly pasture with spots mowed for us to park. The only thing there was a fire pit (which we don't use.) We couldn't get level, there was no Verizon service and it was WAY out in the boonies where I didn't feel safe.

The SD park we are in was only 85 miles away and we headed there. It is not a COE park but a SD park so it costs a lot more.

We will be here for probably 2 nights and then head for the next COE park on the Big MO.

Tired now as it is almost 6 and we don't usually travel that late. No lunch so we are hungry, too.

Today I was able to sew a long while with a couple of women and get to know them a little better. The location was very easy to find. I was able to finish all but the hems on my wrap-around pants; I need to try them on to decide how much to hem.

Tomorrow will be Apron Day to make up for only doing minimal 3Ds today.

To continue my theme for today, I tried a new-to-me yogurt from Aldi called Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It was good. A little sweeter than I would want for breakfast, but I had it for dessert/afternoon snack and it was fine. Teeny tiny chunks of pineapple in it. I had never seen it there before, hope they have it again.

Nancy ~ Creepy crawlies and bugs are way out of my comfort zone, too! Glad the chickens enjoyed them. Seems like you and your grandkids do a lot to keep your chickens from getting bored.

Emptynester ~ I'm glad you & DH found a safe camp.

LOTS of stuff is out of my comfort zone. I have a very small comfort zone... * sigh *
But today went well. Went to nursing home w/dh & ds (& dgs)... delivered supper to dmom... visited dmil...
went to cleaners... post office... electric office to pay bill... got the pack-n-play and dgs is packed in it & playing now.
DS & ddil will be back later, but if we are keeping him for several hours, I like to have it. I just cannot chase him all over the house for very long, and dh definitely was not up to the chase routine.

I need a nap.

DEFINITELY agree that creepy crawlies, bugs, and MICE are out of my comfort zone.

Camping in the boonies would be out of my zone, too...

Chicken boredom - our chickens have exciting evenings from about 7 to dusk because we do allow that much freedom away from the fence. Lately they've found some kind of excitement under the azalea, and make a bee-line for it every evening. But I'm sure their days are boring.

Way out of comfort zone, I gave a ride today to a couple who were carrying a red plastic gas can. Had seen their car 1/2 mile back. They had managed to run out of gas at a point that was equidistant (and miles away) from any gas stations I could think of. So I took them to the one they would have been headed toward, and waited and brought them back. They had turned the wrong way when approaching a long road that travels from city to country. Had they headed toward the city as they planned, they'd have had plenty of stations to choose from. It was over 90 and humid, so they were definitely in need. I had dd and her phone with me and was in my ddad's truck, so I felt confident, especially after witnessing their 1/2-mile trek with the gas can.

Today went by a party store and got the paper goods I need. Picked up a sleepover friend. Took the girls to a hair-frills store and they each spent less than $2. Ice cream and home.

BookSaver, that's great that you made new friends and found the home easily.

lucylee, I giggled at your ideas of project size. Um... ... if your project requires an engine hoist, a building permit or permission from the county health department, it miiiiight be bigger than a 3 x 5. Needs a 4 x 6.

The only thing I did outside my comfort zone today was have a hotdog. I didn't feel sick after, so that's a good thing (I did take an antacid before hand per a tip on the internet that I figured couldn't hurt.)

I went into Presbytery (ds dropped me off) and it was good to be working there. Spent most of the time tidying up the desk area since one of the filing cabinets had been given away and the contents piled all over.

Dh picked me up, we had lunch and then hair cuts.

After that we picked up Australian dollars for ds. (Must get those from the car.)

Then on to groceries, check the return policy on the jeans I bought for the Russian Arctic trip. I can return them at any time if I have the receipt, and I do - so if, when the cold weather returns, they don't fit, I can exchange for a pair that will. I bought them when I weighed 7 pounds more than I do now and I won't need jeans for another month so might lose enough to go down a size.

I put away the groceries (or most of them, the watermelon is still out) and then made up dinner. Since we had a high fat lunch, dinner was homemade soup, spinach salad and bruschetta. I cooked it all. Watched a happy episode of Doc Martin (only 2 left for us on Netflix) and then started wasting time.

Dh did the dishes (as per our informal arrangement - whoever doesn't cook, cleans up) and I've been playing solitaire or surfing.

Ds should be home from work soon. I might cut up the watermelon then. Lunch tomorrow is planned (leftovers from last night), dinner tomorrow is a corn roast at the Anglican church in the village. I hope to write the sermon tomorrow.

Arranged to meet the supply minister on Thursday and show her the churches.
