Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
Had breakfast. Put away the laundry on the drying rack, started another load in the washer after putting the first in the dryer, carried the vacuum up and vacuumed & dusted the upstairs and did the carpets on the main floor.
Have loaded the car with the electronics recycle stuff and am taking it over to the community centre now.
Was waiting for Cathy's rain to stop (we got it starting around 4 a.m.) but it isn't going to stop and the pickup ends in an hour.
I blew the money transfer for the wardrobe so have to contact the buying. Sent an email because he forgot to send a phone number, although, come to think of it I have their address and name so I should be able to call them anyway. Will do that when I get back from my errand.

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
CI from home net at the camp ground is spotty.
We have a KOA type cabin for 2 nights. Staying locally so I came home to let the hens out after going to take h. The 2nd key at work it was on the way. He had a half day of work. I was home long enough to do chicken chores and just sat down with my egg for breakfast here when he called. Then I had to hunt up the car keys to move the car.
I had excellent success at the farmers mkt. Got corn, three giant toms. One lb. Each one was free love that , a butternut squash & giant cookie. When I got here I handed him a cookie and coffee next time. I checked on him he was sitting on the patio with a chicken on his knee the were both eating some of that cookie!
I took some pics will share on fb Mon. when we get back. It is raining slightly here now, but at least its not to hot. Trying to figure out how to get out of cooking maybe subway and spam sands.
I need to get my devo. Soft Cover book as the other on that I have been using is on line.

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
I wanted to post last evening, but was so tired when we got home. Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts for dh. We got home about 5 pm; they had kept him a little later for another blood test to make sure his creatinine level was good. I made egg salad and we had sandwiches and fresh peaches for supper. Dh was napping in his chair and I couldn't stay awake, so I took a nap also. When I woke up it was time to go to bed!
Anyway, I think we need a few quiet days. I'm going to do a little puttering around today; nothing strenuous, just the basic 3Ds.
This sat for a while....Got a phone call from ds#3, then he and ddil both sent pics of dgs11 in football uniform and dgd16 in her color guard dress! They both are getting so grown up--just like all our village kids here are! I also made tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for us for lunch. I need to mix up some iced tea!
OKay.....LO is learning so much from the things you do with him, and he seems to soak it all in like a sponge! Hope you feel better!
I'm going to check out Helia's link --- good luck to ds!
Hello to everyone

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
Wardrobe is sold. Will be delivered tomorrow. Half the money is in my account, balance on delivery.
Turns out the buyer is a doctor at ds's hospital. Took a bit for us to make the connection.
The electronics are dropped off.
I still have to dust the main floor so will get at that now. Then vacuum it. The kitchen floor desperately needs washing as well. The foyer can wait another couple of weeks.
Dd will be here next week starting on Thursday night, leaving Sunday morning. Ds leaves with her. Sigh.... panic attack coming on - will get moving physically to try and stop it.

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
I'm having a hard time getting started today, too. Saturdays have a different "feel" even when you're retired, you know? And this is my first Saturday home in a few weeks. I'd like to lie on the couch and watch Westerns all day.
Tomorrow is another day.

Kathryn do you have a definite moving date? Sounds like it's getting close.

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
Cathy: I don't have a moving date. It will be June - August.
Ds is moving to Australia in a week (and since we are moving while he's gone, his things have to be out of our house by then - being stored by a friend.)
Dd is moving into a house in Waterloo on November 1. And leaving most of her furniture in Vancouver so will be taking a U-haul van-load of things from here. Some of the load is already hers - we stored it while she was out west. Some is our stuff that we won't be able to use in the apartment so she may as well have it now. Some will be things of her brother's that aren't worth storing (garbage cans, cleaning supplies, some bookcases.) So that load will leave here on the morning of November 1 (I want to be home for our last Halloween here.)
After that, about 1/4 of our stuff will be gone. We need to get at least another third of the remainder (preferably half) gone but we'll have all winter to do that. The guest bedroom will have just a bed, two night tables and the safe from my in-laws, the spare bedroom in the basement will have just an inflatable bed (unless we decide to keep ds's platform bed.) The (unused) tv room in the basement will have a couch (although that should be the next big thing to go, I'm only keeping it around now for a place to put things off the floor) and the captain's bed my dad made. (Hmmm, there is a 27" tv and dvd player in there, not sure what it will sit on since dd's taking the bookcases that currently hold it - I guess it should go next, along with the couch.)
The storage room will be over 1/2 empty. The shed will have 1/3 of its contents gone.
So good progress was made this summer.

Re: SATURDAY -LAST DAY OF SUMMER
I'm SO impressed by how organized you are and how much you're getting done paring down your belongings, Kathryn! I'm proud of you!!
Moving slowly here. . . people always seem to get in my way.
I ate lunch - and then dh wanted me to sit with him and the girls while they had bfast - waffles. It was 12:15 by then. Before that, we were able to have a brief conversation (while GG was downstairs) about whether we keep GG for the year or just a couple months. Everyone is for the year long option - except for dh, who is just incredibly busy. Well, particularly right now, but some of that should ease as a couple deadlines have passed. Of course, there is always the next deadline. Then, dh's colleague is on sabbatical, and they run a large lab together, with 30 grad students, mostly PhD students. That is a lot!! Most profs have fewer than 10 at one time, I'd guess. So, dh is pretty much on his own shepherding the students through the research this year.
Also, we need to get on the ball w/ dd17's college apps, etc. I think dh is feeling this too. She still needs to take some extra exams for some of the Universities in which she's interested, and maybe we should do some visits?? It's getting kind of late for that though. Early apps are due soon!! I think she can only apply to 2 for early action, though.
OK, I have an hour to get the casserole together, tidy living areas, and spiff the bathroom. Should be doable.
