WOW Kathryn! I am so impressed. You are going great guns. Somehow I missed about your DD moving to Waterloo from Vancouver. Is her DH going to teach there or is he ready for that yet? I am sure she will be so happy to be back in the East.

Fall has arrived in our valley. Rain is on the way and mornings are colder. I am sure the big Elms in back of us will be dumping all their leaves on us soon. DH will be very busy getting them all picked up before we leave end of November. (He doesn't like that job! ) But then, there are a lot of things I don't want to do either.

Mr. Guy and Sweetie have been visiting on the phone about Sweetie's and Cowinkie's vacation and future plans. Wherever they go we will want to visit.

Helia - your DSon hackathon weekend sounds fascinating!

DSon and I are doing some computer swapping. I am not using the Microsoft Surface tablet so am going to leave it here. He wants me to try a different tablet that he recently bought but isn't using. Meanwhile he is updating my main laptop to Windows 8.1

DSon borrowed our pickup this morning to bring home a new weight bench. He has completely transformed his body in the last 9 months. He is in the best shape he has been in the last 10 years or so

I napped awhile after breakfast, then got word from the pharmacy that they need more info from my dr. on a renewal prescription, which borders on the verge of "being picky" or "acting petty", in my OPINION. I gave my nurse ALL the info they request via the DR., via fax OR phone, told her if they give dr. anymore problem, we'll cancel it and I'll take OTC Immodiam AD instead. Then, I got to thinking about it, so left a message with the pharmacy, if this cannot be resolved, I'll cancel the order and take OTC Immodiam AD, TOO! It just rubbed me the wrong way, how they need to have the dr. put in your whole life's history for a prescription I've had before and had gotten with no problem whatsoever.

Then, later, I felt guilty. And went back to my pharmacy to order 2 prescriptions I needed roughly Oct. 1 anyway. So that's done, I feel better, and it's a beautiful sunny day here!

I'm working on detailed cleaning cards, which are my monthly cards, I have a list, which was printed off the computer and stapled into a home journal, that I'm going by. It's just painstaking to write everything down. But I want/need to do it, and get my card file system up and running 100% so I just write a to do list at night and that's it. I'll mainly go by my cards.

I'm washing DH's 2 prs. jeans and 1 pr. jeans of mine. Need to go check them.

I just wanted to check in quickly to say hello and how I CANNOT "BELIEVE" THIS IS THE LAST DAY OF SUMMER!!!! WHERE did it go????? I guess I was so busy with grandsons staying that it sort of flew by because I was writing stories, too, and crocheting for baby dgd, too. DH said last night how my earnings have really helped us out this year, thanked me, and when I said, "Really????" he said, "YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!! A LOT!!!!" It made me feel so appreciated, respected and loved by him, too. Know what I mean? So many women have DH's who never notice a thing and I feel so LUCKY! Just had to share. It made me feel great.

Norma No, he doesn't have a job there but is working over the internet and has been for about 7 months. He has his doctorate now (I was sick for his convocation so didn't mention it here.) They figure they'll have a better chance at work at Waterloo if he's actually in the city so can hear about things and stay 'in people's faces' so he's top of mind if something comes up. In theory, he's still in the running for the government job here but it made more sense for them to move there because they'll be happier there. They are renting until they know for sure about the government job.

I've finished cleaning the ground floor. Ended up mopping the foyer floor too since I had Cher on (dance tunes) and she gave me energy to keep going.

I'm treating myself to dinner out at Tim Horton's. Then I have to pick up groceries (just a few.)

At that point I'll need to go over the service and polish it. Then bed. I'll be up in the middle of the night when dh gets home with ds (who is picking him up.)

I need to run off a map of the race route tomorrow so we can figure out where to head to in order to cheer ds on. We won't likely make it before he finishes but we can try.

Kathryn, You sound so organized and like everything is going along right for you, too.

I had an asthma attack after breakfast, which only happens about once every 11 - 14 or more days. I slept so hard after breakfast, got a late shower, about noon, and just now, it's 2:30 p.m. and DH and I were stripping the master bedroom bed of the sheets, when I noticed I'd left the walk-in closet like ON for 2 HOURS! It's a goofy day for me.

Now the sheets are washing, jeans are drying, and there's more in the basket after that. I didn't sleep well, after seeing my dfriend who's failing. The rains are coming soon, DH will build a fire tomorrow because it'll be 58* or less cool temps and blustery with rain. It'll be nice to have that warmth again.

Kathryn, Do you know where you're moving yet? I know it'll be awhile longer before you move, but just was curious if you'll stay in Canada or venture out of that country? You seem so adventurous to me! I admire that in you! And if I were to get up to give sermons, I'd have my knees knocking, be beet red in the face, butterflies in the tummy, and would probably cry! I admire those who do public speaking so much!

Another thing I did today was print up free stationery, but I forgot to move the setting off of Landscape! I just turned the pages over in my printer, changed to portrait and will write my pals and tell them, "See? Nobody's perfect!"

Wow, Kathryn! Can't believe how you're moving along. Unfortunately when we sold our house I was in no way prepared. If you remember, we were in FL and ds-A called & said he'd just sold our house to a racing friend -cash. Yikes. Dh & DD flew home for the 3 days prior to Thanksgiving. They and our 2 sons pretty well cleaned out a 2 story, 11-room house, oversized garage, huge basement & attic. Every so often I wonder "whatever happened to.....?" We did go back that summer and were able to get more things that were never touched. A single (divorced) guy bought it and readily would invite us in to look through cupboards etc. Guess they did ok though.

Have dgs8 with us. DS-R & DDIL have gone out for their anniversary. They offered to take dgs but told him he would have eat something beside chicken mcnuggets. So he's been here. He was at b'day party most of the day anyway -but his shoes & socks are soaked. Said they were outside most of the time. Highest today was 62 and it's rained all day. (In case you want to know Kathryn -it's finally stopped here I think) Had 3/4".

Since I have so much time, I'm trying to be organized and minimize landfill. Dh and I are in conflict over whether to give everything away or sell items, so the compromise is that we are giving the proceeds to charity. Appropriate since I preached on "Sell your possession, give alms." over the summer.

Ivy We are just moving into our nearby city. We've identified a probable condo apartment complex that usually has 5 or so places to rent available at any given time. Ds has explicitly asked us to not change cities since he'll be returning to here because he has a job waiting for him when he gets back. I am only formally licensed to this Presbytery so I couldn't really move out of it if I want to work. While my credentials should be mobile, getting preaching jobs where I'm not known would be much harder. In dd's new city, they aren't licensing anyone because they have so many retired ministers to do supply work, so our original plan to move there is currently on hold.

Just like with the disposing of our household goods, I'm approaching the next 10 - 15 years in babysteps. First we'll give up being homeowners and having a permanent place to live. And we'll give up village life for the city. At that point we'll figure out what plans God has for us.

At this point, if I had to give up all my life (preaching, my church family, the kids and my village) I'd go crazy. So we'll do things in stages and see what new opportunities arise as we give up one or two things.

Back from dinner and shopping. I'm exhausted. The rain never let up and it was a miserable drive home, playing real life frogger, trying to avoid squishing too many of the frogs migrating. This happens for a short while each year and it is yucky.

Boy I remember all day and all night rains like that when I lived up north. Doesn't happen here very often. Usually a few hours at a time is the most we get. I love a cloudy day or two. Very peaceful, then I'm ready for the sun again.

Today was that baby shower, it was the daughter of my son-in-law's sister. We were at their house on a pretty exclusive island and her home is just beautiful. It is furnished very tastefully, if not a little sparsely, and there is no junk around, no knick-knacks, nothing extra. I'm always inspired when I come home from there to clean up the items sitting around here!

She had a nice luncheon set out too. I think she has the gift of hospitality; however, she did say between the prep and the little baby, she was up all night!

I have to clean up my master brm closet as all the gift boxes fell all over and I need the stepstool to get them back on the shelf...and the wrapping and ribbon bins are all over. I was in a rush getting out of here at 11 AM. Had to do a pedicure and manicure, put my rollers in for a while, iron clothes, sew up the slacks hem that was down...sign the card...

Big cleanup in the kitchen when I got back. Looks much better in here now. Took the compost out, washed that container and put it in the recycle box since it picked up some odor not removed by the washing....I keep some extras around just for that. I just use empty ice cream gallons.

Sure glad to see Sunny's DH is home.
Helia, will be interested to see what you decide about GG. If you don't keep her where will she go?

Kathryn, That's really interesting.

DH made the bed with fresh sheets, that I'd washed/dried, while I read on a book. I have a friend who wrote a book, I bought it, but put it to the side when I got to chapter 4. I feel so embarrassed how I didn't finish her book in a timely manner. Life happens, I guess. And it's a good book, too. I'm trying to finish it this weekend.

Got the cards all written. Need to figure out what days to file them under. Might do 1 room real good each week or every other week and then keep up on the routine stuff.

My washer is dinging me so I need to run and dry laundry.

We'll have hamburgers for dinner tonight.

Some places are getting lightning strikes. Tomorrow's going to be our first storm in off the Pacific this season. Welcome Autumn with a storm.
