LOL... my dh has padding too, Harriet!
When the photographer told us the special picture collage thing she showed us first was $125...

-10% discount, and the more you buy the more you save... * sheesh * We just told her nicely that we did not want to pay anything like that for pictures of ourselves w/out ds/ddil/dgs in them... and when we left dh LOL some more. He said, "If you had got your heart set on having some of those I would have bought them, you know." I said, "NOOO... I didn't think they were all THAT great." DH agreed that we didn't look $125 worth good.
Hard to imagine HRH ever being an irritable rascal...
I definitely know about the "charming except w/family" part. Dmom often described ddad (not in his hearing) as a "street angel, house devil."
She said the good thing about that was, b/c he was so wonderful to everyone else, now she has all these handymen just falling all over themselves to help her out. And it was true. I think everyone who met my ddad just fell in love with him. As the preacher said, everyone felt like they were his BEST friend. My dmom is a wonderful hostess, but it is probably more work for her, more stressful. Ddad was the very epitome of Southern hospitality. "What are y'all doing? Well come on in, (dmom) will fix us something to eat..." But boy... he could be a hard taskmaster and hard to live with sometimes.
DH is not as outgoing, outwardly friendly as ddad. DH is much shyer, quieter, etc., I think, unless he knows someone really well. He's also much more private and enjoys being alone MUCH more than ddad. But he has his good points. He may not have as many "best" friends as ddad, but 99% of the boys who played ball for him would probably walk through fire for him today. After almost 34 years, I guess I'll keep him.

We're a pretty good match. I've gradually learned to choose my battles.
OH -- I think we have the stink bugs Harmony was talking about. And today I have noticed some of the biggest brown grasshopper type things... on the CEILING of the carport. DGS will be fascinated when he gets a little older.
