Oh, no we would not do any such thing!

For goodness sake, you'd think we never dealt with irritable rascals before. Lord knows, my world's been full of them.
Try to reform them? Yes, until the cows come home.
Slap them? Won't do any good.

Besides, mine has padding.

I would like to point out that I didn't slap Twin's Dad either. None of us would expect sweet, southern, Harriet to, but direct, northern me? Not such a sure bet! I will never forget that he was the one who taught me to order pecan pie with ice cream because the ice cream makes it seem less rich. I didn't believe him but I did it, and he was right!

We are back from picking up dd. Garbage is out to the curb and I've returned my senior friend's phone call (meant to do that before we left to pick up dd.)

Dh is on a conference call with New Zealand so he'll be up a bit late tonight.

I've cleaned the tins I'm going to paint with chalkboard paint, and have taped over the areas I want to not paint on.

I didn't slap Twins Dad when I met him either. I think he came along for protection. We joked about my DH and I being ax killers or something at the time.

I would never slap any DH - (Might think about a small boot in the rear sometimes) But I get more cooperation with honey. (Even if I'm an outspoken Yankee)

I've never seen kudzu bugs here in our area either. I have seen a few love bugs here recently; maybe they're just getting to our area. I did see a large dark iridescent green beetle in the yard the other day, it was as big as the first knuckle on my thumb. I've never seen one like that before.

((Kathryn & dh)). That's a fine line you are walking with regard to dd!

Harriet, it's so nice that your dd had a good time at the engineering club meeting.

OKay, LO sounds like he is doing well in school. I'll bet he will be proud that he helped fix the new riding machine. I would be running along side if it were one of my kids!

Today was a much nicer day to be out on errands. We had to pick up an RX refill for dh at Sam's Club and we stopped at dr. office to pick up a script for the physical therapist. We will take that to them tomorrow and hopefully get signed up for next week. (I sure hope it is covered by health insurance!)

Ahh...dh's...I'm pretty easy going, and so is my dh. But, there are times he is just plain frustrating! He has the passive-resistance thing down pat, however, I let him win the little things and I usually get my way with everything else!

LOL... my dh has padding too, Harriet!

When the photographer told us the special picture collage thing she showed us first was $125... -10% discount, and the more you buy the more you save... * sheesh * We just told her nicely that we did not want to pay anything like that for pictures of ourselves w/out ds/ddil/dgs in them... and when we left dh LOL some more. He said, "If you had got your heart set on having some of those I would have bought them, you know." I said, "NOOO... I didn't think they were all THAT great." DH agreed that we didn't look $125 worth good.

Hard to imagine HRH ever being an irritable rascal...

I definitely know about the "charming except w/family" part. Dmom often described ddad (not in his hearing) as a "street angel, house devil." ;)
She said the good thing about that was, b/c he was so wonderful to everyone else, now she has all these handymen just falling all over themselves to help her out. And it was true. I think everyone who met my ddad just fell in love with him. As the preacher said, everyone felt like they were his BEST friend. My dmom is a wonderful hostess, but it is probably more work for her, more stressful. Ddad was the very epitome of Southern hospitality. "What are y'all doing? Well come on in, (dmom) will fix us something to eat..." But boy... he could be a hard taskmaster and hard to live with sometimes.

DH is not as outgoing, outwardly friendly as ddad. DH is much shyer, quieter, etc., I think, unless he knows someone really well. He's also much more private and enjoys being alone MUCH more than ddad. But he has his good points. He may not have as many "best" friends as ddad, but 99% of the boys who played ball for him would probably walk through fire for him today. After almost 34 years, I guess I'll keep him. ;) We're a pretty good match. I've gradually learned to choose my battles.

OH -- I think we have the stink bugs Harmony was talking about. And today I have noticed some of the biggest brown grasshopper type things... on the CEILING of the carport. DGS will be fascinated when he gets a little older.
Tomorrow is another day.

Off to bed.

Got distracted designing a business card for myself. I needed to update my old cards and decided to embrace this whole preaching thing and add that to the card. Dh is giving them to me as my birthday present. I was going to put the United Church crest on the cards so have written for permission to use the crest.

St apl es has a really nice template on their website. If I don't get permission, I still think the card will look awesome. In fact the crest might clutter it up too much, but we'll wait and see if I get permission before worrying about that. I've decided I need a website too, so I can put up a calendar with my available dates. Dh will grab the domain name I want in the morning. Once I have it, I'll tell you all what it is.

Must be really tired, I'm having a very long deja vu. Good night all!

:D Good Evening, Villagers! :D

DH went to the store this afternoon, I watched a tear-jerker movie, and bawled my head off. :( DH got back and it was dry out, the only day for about this upcoming week, beginning tomorrow. Wet until Fri. dry day Oct. 4! :!: He mowed, blew leaves, covered wood, and tried to get the wooden umbrella pole out of our metal patio table, but it won't budge. Hopefully the canvas umbrella won't mold in the Pacific NW winter rains! :(

Today I did this:
s2s, got pretty
made the bed
put away rubber stamps, discarded the box they were in
said prayers, wrote in 2 journals (1 is a daily exercise I do for balancing my day)
crocheted on dgd's afghan, did too many rows so OUCH! My right shoulder! :(
put dirty laundry in the laundry basket in the utility room
did yoga/stretching twice
worked on a short story
sorted the mail
helped put groceries away
helped cover the 8 3/4 cords wood pile with brown plastic tarp
iced my right shoulder
dumped the entire household trash
put an address in my address book
did my calendar reminders
sorted my 3 x 5's
set my dawn simulator
got out my a.m. clothes
got out my white cotton socks, for bedtime, as I'm working on the last bit of Athlete's Foot. (Every yearly physical I have, I have athlete's foot between the left pinkie toe and ring toe- well if I WORE rings on my toes!)
I got out my nightgown and lounger
I scrubbed 3 toilets
I wrote in my journal
I wrote the journal exercise pages ahead up to Nov. 2.
Helped with dinner.
Read on an author friend's book.
Listened to music. :D

I WILL be doing:
Washing my face, night cream,
Reading and journal writing
1 p.m. snack with antibiotics
Floss, athlete's foot treatment, night guard, etc...
Go to bed.

This is the journal exercise I do, in case anyone's interested. It's commonly used in 12-step programs. I'd been in Over-eaters Anonymous at the time, so desserts and emotional p.m. eating were my "Abstinence" things, whereas for other individuals, it can be sex, drugs, alcohol, cigarette smoking, etc... This is the exercise I keep in my journal:

A = Was I abstinent today?
E = Did I exercise today?
I + I list 8 things I did special for myself today here. You can pick any #.
O = I list 8 things I did for others here.
U = Are there any unresolved issues to resolve, amends to be made, etc....
Y = I list 8 "Yippee" items of gratitude I experienced, felt, saw, or heard or read during the day. :D :D

I find keeping a running AEIOUY exercise in a journal to be helpful, because I can go back anytime, to review what issues I had and when, in order to be stronger the next time a situation arises or find I'm happiest when around certain holidays or family members, etc...

Goodnight! :D Have a good restful sleep, Everyone! :D

The meeting at the library tonight was such a long boring waste of time. :( The 2 people I needed to talk to were not there. The 2 pieces of information I wanted could have been sent in a brief Email. The only value was that I demonstrated good PR and showed myself as a team player for attending. :|

Oh oh oh I just realized that I will not be able to attend the next scheduled meeting for this particular committee. :D I will be ... out of town at a sewing retreat. 8-)

I like the journal exercise, Ivy. Do you worry about your journals being read by others? Do you destroy them after a certain length of time? This is a constant quandry of mine.
I am a rather inconsistent journalist, I must admit.

What was the tear-jerker movie?
If I want to bawl my eyes out, I always watch The Way We Were. * sigh *
Tomorrow is another day.
