Final tally was 50. There are two chocolate bars left for me (I ate 1 already.) Had to open my backup box of Goldfish (I use them as snacks when I'm out) but that preserved the 2 chocolate bars for me.
All the decorations are inside (and the garbage is out.) I can't box them up because everything is wet so my foyer is messy but since they aren't being taken out for a while, I'll need to make sure they are clean and dry.
Dh fixed the garage door opener by 'rebooting' the system (he cut the power to it for 2 minutes and turned it back on.) Yay!!!!
My first load of laundry is in the dryer, second is on first spin. This is the point I have to listen carefully to make sure it advances to the rinse cycle.
Now to turn our focus to packing.

Re: Thursday Trick or Treat
I am in the basement with the porch light off and other lights dimmed or off. I went thru 12 bags of funsize candy bars which are at least 20 per bag. At 7:53 I had 2 left. I ran in and shut off the light and went back out and gave them to 2 girls that I had seen next door. They were coming so fast, that I eventually just stood out in the driveway and handed out candy. The weather was beautiful, a little cool but no wind. I need to make a note since next year Halloween will be on Friday. I told dd1 that if the weather is nice I will need to buy a lot more than 12 bags. Dd2, dgd17 and her bf brought the 4 little ones here. They left the car and took off walking. At one point dd2 came back and picked up the car and headed the other way. They were evidently headed to dd1s area. Dd2 never spares any expense for their costumes. Dgs9 was George Washington, dgs7 was Indiana Jones, dgd4 was a lavender fairy and dgd2 was a witch. Both little girls costumes had batteries because their costumes had blinking lights. Dgd2's witch costume was a dark green top hooked to a dark pumpkin color skirt with black and peach colored net over it. The little girls can now add these dresses to their dress up collection.
This afternoon I met dd2 at the daycare to see the 2 little girls in their costume parade.
Tonight I had 3 girls tell me they loved my house and one of them asked if she could live with me.
We have an unusual entryway. It is probably 10' wide X 24 feet deep, with an archway in front and another open to the side. It has a ceramic tile floor and is enclosed. We really like it but we keep thinking about having wrought iron gates made for the 2 archways. We would have them made with locks and the girls and us would have keys. We would keep them open during the day but locked at night. The garage door opens onto the entryway. When dh is gone, I am always nervous about coming home after dark. It would be a lot safer to have gates on those arched areas.
I haven't posted much lately especially about dd2 and her house buying situation. I can't begin to count how many times they have almost backed out, only to change their minds. I am pretty sure it is a go, because she signed a contract on Monday with a contractor to finish the lower level. She also gave him a down payment, so you would think that she wouldn't still be second guessing herself. Everyday I have to reassure her that it will be alright. Tonight she overheard one of those young girls complimenting me on the house. Dd2 then commented that she never should have moved from this house. Which is true but you can't unring that bell.
Dh has to go to a conference in Nashville on Aging in the Workplace. He will leave Nov. 16 and get back the 21st. He is driving and it will be 2 days each way. He invited me to go but I have a dr. appt on the 18th. I have already been to Nashville and 4 days out of 6 on the road doesn't sound fun. He refuses to fly if he can drive.
I just went outside and an hour later, there is still kids going door to door, if lights are on. Last year dh was out of town for Halloween, so I went to dd2s for supper and then I manned the door, while her dh and her took the 2 girls in their area. So I didn't have a clue what to expect. Dd2 couldn't remember how much they bought when they lived here.
I have spent the last 2 mornings raking up wet leaves. I would rather mow them but they were so piled up that it would be impossible to mow them. I still have about half of the leaves still on the trees. I'm hoping I can start mowing them instead of raking.
My dsisil (dh's oldest ds) was diagnosed with COPD and put on oxygen full time last week. She has survived 2 bouts of cancer but this has really hit her hard. Dh's dcousin is on oxygen full time and she is so vain that she refuses to leave the house, even with the small oxygen pack. Her dh does all the shopping errands, etc. Dcousin is still smoking.
Dsisil made the comment that she won't be able to do that, because she has 2 many people depending on her. Even with all this my dh continues to smoke. Drives me crazy but until he is ready, it won't happen.
I can't believe tomorrow is Nov. 1. Christmas is around the corner, the way time flies by.

Re: Thursday Trick or Treat
Only 2 trick-or-treaters here (except for dgs). Rainy/windy night, and big church events on each side of us. (A couple miles in each direction, but you see what I'm saying.) Ddil wishes people did old-fashioned house to house trick or treating around here, but I told her I think those days are gone. So much simpler to just go to the church party and have it all in one stop.
I need to go to MO thread too. * sheesh *

Re: Thursday Trick or Treat
The campground we live in summers celebrates Halloween in late September. Kids come out of the woodwork! There are well over 250 kids. I escaped this year and went shopping instead.
Oh my, the wind is really blowing.
