hot and humid is not a good running combination,
helia
lauralind, I'm not gonna lie, some waiting times here are ridiculous too. But part of the problem is lack of doctors - the money the hospitals are offering is not bad at all, but the conditions are kinda brutal (because of lack of doctors, too), so the vicious circle continues. But if you really need it, the wait times will be very short (that's why when anybody mentions that they got a follow up real quick, I am like "oh god, the doctors think it's BAD")
yay for fresh garden produce and yay for dfBS making progress,
gma!
oh, and now I see
Bama has already answered my question about when her Medicare can kick in!

Hello, all. This is one of those lazy days of summer: overcast, weird air pressure and muggy. A great day to take lounging breaks and to move through tasks gently.

Today's big goals are to cook the turkey legs for Germane, go to the library to pick up my hold, and go to my bff's Stitch N Bitch.
Thank you for starting us off, trissie. That is a very beautiful peony. I set it as my desktop background.
Sorry about morning arriving, but I suspect that if it didn't arrive that would bring its own set of problems, LOL.
Do you have any special plans for your solo dinner, Kittykatt? Food that you like but your DH doesn't, or girl dinner that doesn't take any prep?

And that, Bama, is why I never married. It would have led to jail time.
Dogged, very smart. Is it too late for me to change my mind?
It's never too late, but you might want to consider other options first. Though jail time would resolve the medical coverage issue.
Have a wonderful trip, L.Ann. I'm glad that you are all covered for medical.
That brings me to the end of Page 1. Time to put Germane's turkey legs on to cook. I was going to cook just the turkey legs and skip the potatoes and veg that she doesn't want, but since we both need the same big slow cooker I think that I will put in potatoes and veg for me, and she can eat the turkey and broth.
Wednesday
Put on a pot of coffee
Washed floor around pee pads
Tested out the rock function on chair: I have done it in the past but couldn’t work it out today. I kept going straight back to full recline and staying there, which was also nice.
Cleaned up after dog

Lol Dogged, I think I’ll stick with the tried and true. It’s not that bad, I’m just whiny right now. It will pass. Ignore my posts for a little while.
I just turned 61 on May 31.

It’s not that bad, I’m just used to the cushion of knowing I had something to fall back on. I don’t want to pay for what has been “free”, a minimal amount taken from dhs pay before we receive it so it was never missed. We can afford to pay but it hurts me to do it when I haven’t before lol. We do have a senior center I need to contact, as well as our bank, to decide how to handle dh’s retirement fund and health needs. Dhs non concern about my well being stings the most. Dh being a tribal member gets most of his healthcare for free and I get a few perks from it, so far I’ve used the eye care. I need to follow up and see what else a spouse can get. I’m used to not waiting for healthcare, it has been taken for granted. The only time we have to wait/get approved is this work comp situation. It was nice to make an appointment with my doctor whom I get to choose, get in, order labs, go straight to the lab and get it done. No waiting. The waiting part is what makes me anxious so I’m very thankful to have gotten this far without having to wait. I’m just thinking out loud here, the network here helps me work it all out in my own mind. Thanks for being here! I always say that but I mean it.

I can't be social now - might come back to that later. I'm having lunch. Earlier, I went for a jog, got my haircut, walked around the farmers market and bought some strawberries that looked great - more natural than in the store. However, they are almost tasteless.
I also got some zucchini for dinner tomorrow night + a pair of navy blue stone earrings. I've been looking for navy blue earrings for a while; I wear a lot of blue/ navy to work, and I've lost one of each of my previous 3 pairs.
Dh just called kind of laughing. He made a scheduling mistake. Dsil M + dniece L from Germany are not arriving tomorrow afternoon. They will show up on our doorstep in about 2 hours.
It is 1:40. I'm finishing lunch. I then have a meeting 2:30 - 3:30. Maybe it will end early? And then I was going to go to 2 grocery stores. Dh says he has a phone call at 3:30 but he can take it at home. Their room isn't ready, but there's not much to do in it. All the bedding is clean and in the room; it needs a dusting and the steam closet needs to be moved out of it. If they want separate rooms, then I'll need to spiff another room. I'm trying to keep the stress level from skyrocketing. I have things scheduled tomorrow morning - bc I thought they wouldn't be here yet. I have no edible bread in the house bc I was planning to go to TJ for GF bread stuff tomorrow morning. . .
Next:
- after lunch clean up
- work on grocery lists for (1) WF and (2) Kroger
- some qt? -- might be helpful. . .
Later:
- some qt
- make bed
- lists in notebook
- WF run

- dust/ wipe down play room
- set up bed with dh's help
- make up bed
- set up pack and play bed
- dust guest room up
- make 2 guest beds in guestroom up
- 6:40 otd to meet JT for dinner

(((Bama))) We live in different countries with different systems so I don't know if my experiences apply, but my early sixties were a time of discouragement. It was getting harder and harder to keep working every day and I despaired of ever having relief. Sixty five really did bring me to my golden years. Put together, the various govt programs are covering my rent, food and healthcare. I don't have enough savings to get me through my retirement, but I do have some money that has allowed me to set down my burdens and when I do go back to work, it will only have to be part time. I can't describe the difference it makes to my sense of well-being, knowing that I can set down my burdens from time to time and that my most basic expenses are covered. I hope that you find that light at the end of your tunnel and can focus on that, instead of trudging along without hope as I did.
I hope that the weather cooperates for your run, helia. Is your hair appointment maintenance, or a new look?
I'm sorry about your peony, Lauralind. I think that some of the newer kinds are bred to be hardier, so I hope that you can find one that will make the effort.
Enjoy your unstructured day!
Gma, I hope that you get to enjoy your visit with dsis et al.
I hope that dfBS stays in the hospital during your visit so that you are not spending it as her PSW.
Very sound advice, L.Ann. I hope that it can help Bama.
That is a very sane way of looking at shared healthcare, trissie. When people here make snarky remarks about who gets welfare, I say that I would rather make my contribution a little at a time through my taxes than all at once at gunpoint. Don't drive people to desparation should be a goal of every society, in my mind.
helia, I would tell them straight out "Please forgive me for setting up around you. I didn't know that you were arriving today, but you are very welcome. I just need a little time to get things set up for you."
Also: grocery delivery.
Wednesday
Put on a pot of coffee
Washed floor around pee pads
Washed main areas of kitchen and entrance floor
Tested out the rock function on chair: I have done it in the past but couldn’t work it out today. I kept going straight back to full recline and staying there, which was also nice.
Cleaned up after dog
Put away dry dishes
Swapped out kitchen towels
Prepped vegetables
Started slow cooker
Gave Germane her heart pill
Dog pooped on the floor that had just been washed
Moved to block her from walking through it. Saw her squat
Grabbed dog and did quick march to the clean pee pads waiting for her
Managed to a quick dance step to avoid Germane’s attempt to poop on my foot
Got Germane onto the pee pads to finish what she started
Spot-cleaned floor and cleaned up after Germane
Gave Germane some peanut butter as treat
Came out of kitchen to see perfectly centered pee on pee pad
More peanut butter
