I'd be afraid to say I'm at full throttle, but I am back. I apologize for disappearing the last several days -- I know I get concerned when one of you is out of the loop for any length of time -- but I'm just having a hard week. Yesterday was exactly six months since dh's funeral, and Saturday would be our 45th anniversary. Sunday is ds's birthday and we're having his party Monday night. The weather is getting cooler and I dread winter so much. I hate cold weather, and I dread Christmas. And Thanksgiving. I'm just having a hard week.
BUT -- when I finally did get up this morning * It WAS before noon, I promise * -- I decided that I had to pull myself together and I did my morning stretches, straightened out the bed, s2s, put on some make-up, did my Bible reading, and went to the post office. I called my mom and talked to her awhile, made sure Monday was good for her for ds's birthday, and I've started a load of laundry. I also finished putting the groceries away -- it was just a bunch of cokes and water bottles that were still sitting in the floor beside the refrigerator.
I'm trying to call a dfriend in my teacher group to check on her -- she has missed our first two meetings and I thought I should reach out and make sure all is well with her family. She is over 80 years old, but has always seemed in good health. But I think I should get my mind off myself and reach out to someone else.
I bet that brisket is going to be delicious,
Twins! I really think I should start cooking for myself, at least once a week maybe? Just spaghetti or something like that? As you said, I could always save leftovers for another meal. It's just hard to break the habit of going out for fast food or something.
I hope you have a really good time with your dd visiting. A walk by the river sounds really nice.
Your rice and hamburger meat sounds good, too,
LadyM! I'm so glad you are past all the dental surgery. I can't bear to think about going through all that. IKWYM about missing church -- I've missed Sunday School the past two weeks, and last week didn't go at all because dgs was with me and he was sick. The week before, we all went to a nearby church where ds' band was playing. That was fun, but I missed my normal crowd.
I have been to the Wednesday night services though, since I'm the teacher, LOL.
* Side note * There's a new man coming to church now -- he's in his late 60s, widowed, and probably showing some signs of dementia. Plus, he cannot hear thunder. I think he dosed off during our class last night. I told the lady next to me, it's not the first time I've put a student to sleep.

But I really don't know what to make of him... he doesn't contribute anything to our discussion, and I think he probably can't hear what we're saying... but he keeps coming. So it's usually us three or four widows and him.
I'm so glad the weather is good for y'all,
Rose! You are overdue for some calmer seas, aren't you!
even though I knew it was the disease talking it hurt my feelings. I am human after all.
(((BIG HUGS))) I can't imagine how hard this is for you. It is so good that y'all can laugh about some of the things that are happening, but I know it must be scary for both of you.
And
blessed, I am so glad things are going so well for your dh! Plus, I continue to be amazed at how well you and your ddaughters manage your mom!
I am so terrified of having to be a caregiver for my mother... I just do not do well in those kinds of situations.
Nancy -- you may FEEL like you are in neutral, but you certainly sound like you are full-throttle today!
Harriet... I think I can, I think I can... yes... I will try to hold that thought.
