To whoever asked:

Unc's sister is younger. She claims she's turning 81, he says she's turning 84. She claims he was 18 when she was born, he claims 21. She says she has proof of her age. But I recall a neighbour's mother who took almost 10 years off her age at age 45 (thereby starting work after after raising kids at age '36') so successfully that when she got to retirement age, she had very little proof of her real age since all government documents were based on her misrepresentation when she went to work.

Given the number of times we were asked if we had eaten lunch, it is possible that Unc is right and she's forgotten she took a few years off her age decades ago.

BTW: she was a half sister of the singer Hank Snow. Unc was Hank Snow's step brother (Unc's mother was Hank's step-mother.)

We had a good visit, then dropped by the graveyard to pay respects to my aunt, on to a bakery for a light lunch, then to a beach for a short walk, back to the ferry across the Lahave and a long drive along the shore back to the city.

We dropped off Unc and headed out to a restaurant on the shore for a fish supper, then back to the hotel.

I'm vegging in front of the tv and we'll head to bed soon.

The weather today was very foggy for most of the day but the rain hit while we were on the highway and then stayed away where we were. The fog lifted a bit while we were on the beach. We'll be going back to the shore on Saturday (best day for weather.) We were the only ones at the restaurant because its main draw is the view and there was NO view tonight!

Tomorrow is supposed to be raining and windy so the plan is making candy with Unc in the morning and then we don't know what in the afternoon.

Saturday is supposed to be nice and so we'll head back to the shore but without Unc (so less off-the-highway touring so we can go farther.)

Sounds like an interesting visit, Kathryn.

I was all closed down here until DH asked me to look up information on a neighbor 2 blocks away. He'd walked his dog down the street and asked DH to come on over and look at his house which is falling down in the back. Of course, he didn't get name, address, phone number. So I spent some time looking at street map pictures, etc. fun, found our house too.

Thanks, Harriet, I will remember the water. I did force myself to drink a big glass of ice water when I came in from walk. The walk loosened things up and I wasn't as stiff after.

Nancy, I'm surprised the hospital was on lock down. Where is your dsis?

Lucylee, I'm no expert, but usually when my computer gets slow its malware and I run scans. However, just videos etc. being slow, I don't know. Today and yesterday I've had the same thing, trying to look at stuff, links from FB. Tried to listen to G. Camp bell's song (last one) that's all over the internet and I can't get it to play. Always thought it had to do with internet connection speed (if I said that right). When I was on dial-up we couldn't get any of that stuff. And very sad about G.C. too. Was sorry to read about that.

Hi folks! I just wanted to repost this. I posted it at about midnight and some may have missed it. It's THAT good.
CUE HALLELUJIAH CHORUS LOUD!!! I got official notice of my job offer!!! It was in an email rather than on paper, but that is ok, it was directly from the hiring manager with a salary and start date. It is midnight, so obviously I have not replied yet. Interestingly enough, they are assuming I am taking the job. While it is my only offer right now, I am hoping to get an offer from the interview on Monday as well. (I thought I did really well there). I hope they get back to me fast. The start date is 27 Oct. Y'all are the first to know. For one thing, I am NOT calling anyone else right now. If my parents got a phone call from me at 1 am their time, they might just have a heart attack too.
Today I went on a splurge in honor of my job offer. Not extravagant, and only things that I have been wanting for a long time: new special shoe inserts (old ones had holes) plus new sneakers (the sort recommended by my orthopedic surgeon). And I treated myself to lunch. When I came home, I worked on costuming until it was time for DD12's softball game. It is very non-competitive. Batters try until they get a hit. An inning consists of everyone getting one turn at bat. I am not sure if anyone keeps score, though DD tells me they won all their games. DD hits very well. She does not field well because she pays no attention whatsoever.

Once home, I completed an extreme catbox clean and cleaned the air filter for my heater. The crisis cleaning slip was for the back south yard, and it is almost complete. The only thing left to do is remove some dead branches from a large bush and clean out some tumbleweeds and debris underneath. Weeds are all pulled and a wooden wheelbarrow that had deteriorated into dangerousness was put in the trash. Trash is now FULL and pick up is not until Tuesday. LOL has been washed. Emails have been checked and I spent 15 minutes unsubscribing from various job alert.

I got more time on the costume. I realized that the event Saturday conflicts with a going away party for some friends, which does not require a costume.

What's next: flip LOL, box pleat work (finish pinning, iron, sew at waistband), snack. Tomorrow, I will be a piggy pig: breakfast with the knit/crochet group, lunch with friends, potluck dinner and Bunco at church.

Things I need to do next week while I still have weekdays free: will, court documents for child support update, finish costume, finish housework. (Ok, the latter is never finished, but I need to get it in shape for the party).

ETA: Forgot to mention, I have been good today and played only one game of computer Scrabble.

:D CONGRATULATIONS, ELIZABETH!!! :D Your start date is DH's 73rd B-day! ;) I'm glad you got employed! Your hard work & determination paid off! WTG!

Nancy, Never heard anything on the news about any lock-down over Ebola scare, so am wondering what's going on. :?:

Kathryn, That's just too funny about your Duncle and his Dsis arguing about her age. It sounds cute.

DH went to the other county and town, to renew his license, but they didn't open until 1:30 p.m. He went to the nursing home out there, to see our old Dneighbor, who's had a stroke. We've known him and his Dwife since 1975. She's in a separate, more secured room, because of Alzheimer's and she wanders off. So he's a bit upset they cannot be together, but they eat lunches together in the dining room. DH said our Dfriend/old neighbor was super glad to see him. He didn't have time to go see the Dwife though.

I have a stack of pattern leaflets/print-outs to file into the filing cabinet AND/OR into the binders I have for them, with empty plastic sleeves just waiting to be filled up again. It's a time-consuming chore. I noticed dust, as I hadn't dusted this week, on the main office, will do that, once my filing is put away.

I found out that I have well over 45 Granny squares, with the last round in black, to SC around OR DC around in black, join squares, then edge. Decided to give the Granny afghan to my 98.5-year-old Dfriend for Christmas.  ♥ Currently, the Bunny Room is also in disarray. :!:   I have had DH put up the card table, Grannies are laid out atop it, for me to edge, and join as I go. I didn't want like squares to be next to like squares, so interspersed them throughout as evenly as I could. I've only had these Grannies since about 2009 now. It's TIME to do something with them, to bless someone else, and then it'll be one less tote full of Grannies sitting in my walk-in closet. :D

After the Granny's done, I'll sort through magazines in there, start a file folder for what I tear/cut out of magazines, file them away, and will dust that room and the main office. My office needs to be re-done again. It totally is looking like Fibber McGee lives in this office. Not actually, but close.

Waving at Everyone. This is a quick C. I. to "touch base" with ya'll and to say have a Happy TGIF tomorrow! I'm so glad the end of the week's at hand tomorrow. The San Francisco Giants won the play-off games, so they'll be up against the Kansas City Royals in the World Series. It'll be busy at our house with The World Series, college and pro-football on TV. :!: It'll be good times to crochet, too. ;)
HAPPY FRIDAY, TOMORROW, EVERYBODY! :D
