Elizabeth... good gracious... just when I thought I'd heard it all... this woman is -- in the words of Ernest T. Bass -- a NUT. The rooster tale AND the child/x/other woman tale... BOTH stories are just amazing. How she could possibly think you would feel or act in any other way is just beyond me. Bless her heart. (And you know as a Southerner, that can mean MANY different things... ;) )* shaking my head *
Not to interject additional worries, but should you be concerned about your dd spending time with the stepbrother?

Harriet... yes... sometimes I just have to include my adventures in Mt. Ironmore... just continue to avert your eyes...

Today, I have accomplished s/s of one toilet and three DPC...
And they were ALL dreaded, I promise...
1. Regrets re: bridal shower/brunch Sat. Former students, groom goes to our church, but it is approx 20 miles away, I do not know the hostess, and I rarely have more than the most brief conversations in passing w/the parents of the groom. I have a gift which I will deliver Sunday following the party. Disappointing phone call in a way b/c I had to leave a message on answering machine, and there is always the question of whether one had the correct number or not. Anyway, I tried.
2. That call was interrupted by dbil's call, which is always aggravating...
3. Third call was from retired teacher lady, wanting me to come to ANOTHER retired teachers meeting, not the same group I always meet with, where our supt will be speaking AGAIN re: the upcoming election re: tax increase. No thank you... I have heard that spill once, I do not wish to hear it again. I am not in favor, and unwisely shared that opinion when I felt cornered by a friend yesterday at church. (DH sooo wishes I could master the smile & nod.) She said I could come afterwards, b/c her purpose is in selecting scholarship winners from our organization, but no, thank you... do not want to risk running into the supt again in this context, as HE is also a former student and well-liked by myself, outside of this context.

* sigh *
So aside from s2s and Bible reading, that's about as far as I have gotten.

Seems like I do have lots of activities going on around here much of the time, not necessarily today, although dgs is expected at any moment... but even on those days when I am busy busy busy w/ds, etc... I feel like such a failure b/c my weekly and zone tasks go untouched. Does anyone else have this problem?
Tomorrow is another day.

My flowers have been replanted, but I am not sure they will take. Looking kind of puny to me at the moment. Time will tell.

Elizabeth...Although I can tell you are entirely aggravated at the whole friend/rooster situation I've gotta confess I was giggling as I read about your episode with the attacking fowl. Only thing I can say is be thankful he wasn't part of a pair of geese. Those guys are terror watch-dogs on two web feet.

However I found it so interesting that although your friend's immediate actions offended you...ie the Easter basket for the X's stepson, you are able to realize your df has good intentions as well as a good heart. Sometimes friends really are clueless when it comes to our own love matters. Perhaps it is because she has never experienced betrayal like you have. Good for you with your clear thinking....rooster or otherwise.

Oh, by the way, could you please use your powerful words to help make my flowers grow

OH my goodness, ((Elizabeth)). Yeah, I can't add anymore than others have said. As a chicken owner (2 hens), I have to say I find the idea of eating in the same area where my chickens might roam to be rather disgusting. I just can't imagine hosting guests for a meal there too! And if I had an aggressive animal, I certainly wouldn't let it roam around free. Nor blame my friends for its aggression. The only animal we have, including our hens, that has shown any serious aggression to people is our cat who once bit a small child when he picked her up incorrectly after he had been told not to touch her. She didn't break the skin so it was probably a warning bite. We even crate our non-aggressive dogs when we have small group children here b/c one of them is SO very friendly (guess which one?), some of the small children are frightened of her. She just wants to love on everyone and have everyone love on her. . . .And the comments re: the ex/the woman/ the child. This woman sounds like she is relationally completely out to lunch. Maybe your "friend" is a little socially challenged. Seriously, maybe a little Aspergers or something? With friends like that. . . .

Now, RR's comments are making me giggle. .. Elizabeth, can you use your powerful words to help me lose about 10 lbs?

I'm home from work, have had a snack and relaxed. I'm going to head out for a jog now. It is clouding up but the temps are mild, about 60* right now.

Class went well this afternoon.

Tonight, I want to get caught up on some things around the house and make up an assessment sheet for in class presentations. We don't really have that at the school; we do have an assessment sheet for oral interviews for each level. I'll start with that. I think the students would like to see it before (informal) presentations on Thursday.

In Toronto Airport Lounge. Flight loads in 40 minutes. I've been out of bed since 11:30 on Saturday night and really feeling it now, despite 5 hours rest on the plane (and sleeping through a lot of Wag the Dog and Downton Abbey.)

Dh wants to eat dinner on the way home. I'm too tired to eat anything more than a snack right now.

The last plane (which we boarded at 10 local time) served breakfast about 2.5 hours into the flight but I had breakfast in the lounge before boarding so just had fruit and bread, then light snacks (dh and I had the veal slider which was wonderful) and then lunch (which was awful so I just ate salad, hot veggies and bread.)

I just want to go to bed.

I have been able to post in J and C that my strong little granddaughter has been born! Ds was only able to text and so texted his big sister. She was in a meeting with several deans and vp of college. She said even though it was rude and she would never normally do it, she took that text! LOL! She was able to call us after her meeting and we were all so happy. The news is good.

In other news, dd16 measurements taken, prom dress and petticoat ordered.

Off to WMart for photos.

Oh my, Harriet, DD to prom already.

Did a clean-out of refrigerator. All those dishes washed and leftovers either eaten or put in freezer.

I went outside and helped DH water grass. It's been too long without rain. April is typically our driest month and this one seems to be no exception so far. Lots of brown spots in the lawn. We had 2 hoses going and got everything watered. Went to come in and DH had all the doors locked, the garage doors shut and it was almost totally dark and mosquitoes were out. It surprised me how panicked I felt. I knew I could get in through the touch pad on the one garage door, but still I stood there at back slider and knocked until he came. He thought I was already in, but the whole thing made me really mad. Ok, get a grip, you weren't in any danger, really.

A new board baby! Woot!

(And I'm home.)

Off to bed. Unpacking can wait until the morning.

I've been up 47 hours now.
