He stopped taking his meds about a month ago
Nodding my head in understanding. I deliver DH’s meds to him twice a day. The morning meds come with a small jar of nuts and dried fruit that he likes, so he has something on his stomach when taking his morning meds. Without food, the meds don’t stay down.

All the OTC pain meds in the house (Tylenol, Advil, etc.) have been moved to a spot he doesn’t know about. I had to do this to monitor how many he takes and how often. He couldn’t remember taking OTC pain meds just half an hour ago and would take more.

It’s interesting how this feels like normal life now. We just keep making small adjustments to keep DH safe.

DGS28 told me yesterday that it's like I have another kid to take care of. Yes and no. When DGS28 said this, he had just watched DH mistakenly enter a women's bathroom, and I quickly redirected him to the men's bathroom. DH does need to be monitored similarly to a child, but he doesn't require training like a child does. DH receives a level of respect and admiration that a child doesn't. I'm not sure if that fully explains what I'm trying to say, but DH is my husband and remains the head of our home.

After agreeing upon a time, then DD49 baled on DD14 hair washing a bath today. This happens about half the time so it isn't a suprise.

I spent some time in the kitchen making breakfast for my family, which was relatively quick—biscuits, hash browns, hot links, and bacon. Then I started on a big pot of hash, which took about an hour to chop up the meat and vegetables. It has been simmering for over an hour now and smells incredible.

I cut the grass but mostly made sure the leaves were getting blown on to the bushes and other plants at ground level. Usually I am trying to keep grass out of the ground level plants/bushes. It's 52 degrees here and windy. We had frost last night.

(((RRose))) and (((LadyM))) we love them and we do our best to help them and respect them as our husbands, but it's not always easy. Lately dh has been spending most of the night on his phone and then sleeping through the morning. This morning it was after 11 when dh got up for the day.

I had a good cry earlier and I think I'm done with the crying for now. Dh and I talked about it. He mentioned that I write a lot of stuff on the calendar, like birthdays and appointments. I said I don't have to write anything on today's date because it's always in my heart. See.... here I go crying again. It just breaks my heart that she overdosed on pills and left 3 children behind. Knowing what a mean man my dad was, I wonder how he made her life so bad that she took too many antidepressants to get away from it all.

I have walked that helped me to feel better today.
Glad for the calm without wind today is so peaceful.

I just put dishes in one sink and wait till evening to to them or in the morning.
With so few it does not add up very fast.

Does any one remember left over turkey and stuffing with cream of what ever soup from one of the
P & P books. I've been thinking about that and using a scoop to put em in muffin tins then freeze up
what ever it left after I have some for make ahead meals that used to be one of our favs. this time of year.

I'll be getting squash three kinds butternut acorn and spaghetti for seasonal meals I can do up
in the crock pot. Glad I thought of that a a few other items to add to my groc. list.

(((Cathy)))

Also sending (((hugs))) to Rose and LadyM for your worries with dhusbands.
And (((blessed))) and (((twins))).

We had a good church service and dmom was so glad she came. Dgs did the devotional and Dgd had a small prayer to read.
Afterwards dmom took dgrands and me out to eat.
I am glad to be home! It is raining and cold outside. I’m ready to snuggle in to my afghan and REST, as you said, blessed!

I loved the thoughts you and Harriet shared — it really hits home for me. I am definitely my worst critic.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good afternoon!

(((Cathy)))

I was a schlub on Friday and didn’t post — didn’t even get dressed. I was fighting a cold, and we didn’t have anywhere to go, so I just took a day off. Spent most of the day in my nightgown, sitting in my chair with a blanket over me, sipping tea and soup. I couldn’t tell you anything I did beyond that. The rest and fluids did me good, though — I felt much better yesterday.

I tried to post yesterday but lost it. I got out on the first part of my mini-pilgrimage. There is a shrine near us, kept by an order of nuns. I went and prayed in the chapel. It was quiet and beautiful and oh, so peaceful. I really must remember it for those times when I need peace.

DH and I were on for the livestream at church yesterday, after which he and DD went to the hockey game, and I stayed home watching the ball game. We were disappointed in both outcomes.

Usually I am so discombobulated by not going to Sunday morning Mass, but today still feels like Sunday. DH is watching the football game. Last I saw, we were actually winning! (I think our team was 2-5 going in, maybe?) I am in the basement doing wash. Darks are in the dryer, and I just started sheets in the washer. The sheets have opened up a spot in the sorter, so I will sort clothes and let the laundry twins do their stuff.

I hope to be back later; making myself accountable really helped on Thursday. In case I’m not, have a good evening!

hello again

d mystery so happy you took the day off. glad the rest was good for you! wonderful
waving. at you
you are smart about giving him some favorite treats before meds. I am glad that it makes it easier to take his meds
yes what you are saying completely makes sense. respect is so important

d lady the smell from your kitchen - wonderful!!!

d harriet hello: it's a very good quote - there is also a new chat on star talk re: children's brains and electronics - I need to listen to.
I am trying to set my 3 x 5's to set up less over goal-ing. I just want to basics and not worry so much about getting it all done. I have terrible ADHD and if I don't have a basic guide - I will over-goal and work way too much. it always happens.

I am so happy about your dw. counters cleaned, sink ready - yay!
hope you can sew today.

d Lucy yay on a good church service - so happy your d mom came. how sweet about your d grands.
glad your home - snuggle and get cozy.

hi d Nancy I am glad you had a lovely walk
yes I remember that book and recipe

yay on cutting the grass d cathy
((my sweet cathy))

hi d rose yay on your walk sorry your sink leaked but great that you organized it.
I am sorry your dh gets diarrhea from his meds - I hope that they can figure it out so that he is comfortable taking the meds again.
I understand - my dh makes decisions that can take a toll on his health quickly - being kind is doable but I have to walk away bc it does upset me. (especially when the illness is preventable)

LadyM… Sweetie doesn’t take any OTC meds or any other meds. He won’t even take something for a headach … never has.

Sweetie faded in and out of confusion. Right now watching in like Flint and he is sitting on the couch laughing his head off…nothing like he was a few hours ago.

Just got a text from my half brother who is 12 years younger than me. He's missing our dad today. He took a picture of something of my dad's that had the address from the house that I spent my first 5 years in. We had just moved the year before my mom died. Seeing that address was weird.

Scalloped potatoes are baking. I just put the pork chop in (it's a large, thick shoulder chop). Dh wants some tomatoes baked with the same marinade that I used for the pork chop. I kept some aside after I mixed it for the tomatoes.

Today I washed 2 blankets and then I had a load of just 2 housecoats and a flannel night gown. I got them at L. L. Bean. I don't know if they still carry the blue/green tartan nightgown or housecoat.

the bears lost over the ravens - but I do have the packers playing this evening.
flipped laundry
put away mom's laundry
emptied dw
mom went for a walk with our Sunday helper - she is lovely with mom - mom, even though weak, loves to go on outdoor walks
dh has been grumpy today. when I or anyone else cleans he gets in there looking at what we are doing - getting flustered- I have no idea why. he doesn't clean - or do his own stuff.

its a good thing that he has a good heart.

he blew the leaves from his side of the garage out to my side and then all over dd's just vacuumed car rug that was very visible.
our neighbor then blew his leaves to our side of the front where dd younger had the doors open on the car and those leaves went into her newly vacuumed car. how did they not notice.
