More current stuff Today it's wet outside and I'm having some connection issues but am able to get back on easily enough when I'm bumped off line.

I like onions with my scrambled eggs so I'm going to try to get some sets to plant later on in the spring wondering if I could grow some this winter hum maybe in pots... that had tomatoes in them this spring. Saw some sets at the store with the bulbs some thing I've not tried to plant in the fall. Hens seem to leave the onions alone.

I need to journal.
H. is up now. It's been quite here w/ out the TV on.
So glad I did another bit of work on the kitchen it's looking better.

The hens want out but it's not easy to get them back in and we have plans to be over town ...~sigh~ they will have to wait. It's time for their mid morning snack. H. can watch. I made them home made crumbles with cooked pumpkin, cornmeal and some oats they gobble it down! I bake it but thinking they don't need it cooked! LOL!
We've l earned that the hens do not like stink bugs to eat.

This weekend h. was saying that we need to read our balloting info. pamphlet and get the mail in ballots ready to go. I've thought maybe we could each to part of it as we generally agree on our voting.

The new mother board on the pc is great!

I'm trying to crochet a new shawl pattern it's a challenge but I "think" I'm learning some thing and figuring it out we will see in time.

H. hurt his foot some how and he's slept in hoping it gets better it's swollen not sure if he stubbed his toe or sprained it or what.

Hello everyone.

Twins, Someone should have made a video of you with the bottle! I'll bet it was funny.

Ivy, I did not know v. men. could be caused by shingles.

Watching the weather channel right now. I hope they are wrong about all these predictions. It is very windy here today. Bright sunshine with some puffy white clouds. We are past getting anything from this. I must call DD1 and see how their beach house fared when it went by. They are about 2 blocks from the Atlantic.

I'm eating double batch of oatmeal right now. I don't know what to eat these days as I'm on a fairly restrictive diet, but this is ok and I'm happy to know it leaves tummy a nice full feeling. DH is out helping someone and I have been sewing away.

I stopped for a break this morning and my favorite movie was on. DH comes in and says how many times are you going to watch this movie? HaHa, he watched the end with me.

Going back to my sewing.

Harmony, I didn't know viral meningitis could start from shingles either. But that's what I understood Ddil to have said. I might have misunderstood, too. Also, she's drowsy and might have been medicated when she told me.

With all of this talk about aprons, I keep thinking about those pinafore aprons. I think I saw them, as a girl on "I Love Lucy". Now I'm wondering if I get a gift card or money for C'mas, why not buy an apron pattern and sew up one of those. :?: I think it'd be kind of cute. ;) I'll refrain from wearing high heels and pearls like "Leave It to Beaver"'s mom did though.

Nancy, My left ankle hurts, so I have an ankle brace on it. I know about the RICE method. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevate. I wonder if it's your DH's ankle, too? :?:

Ivy actually its the ball of h.'s foot but he's doing the rest & elevate part now. He's been cranky b/c of pain does not like the side effects of IBP & aspirin we were calling it "gasprin" last night! LOL! It was good to have some thing to laugh about. H. was not amused when I told him about a couple more hens I found on Craig's list white ones that lay white eggs.

I had raisin bran for breakfast bs was good, sandwiches for lunch were not the best for my innards.

I'm thinking of those in the path of Sandy the hurricane aka frankinstorm dubbed by some unknown person.

Back in from raking a few leaves and given hen treats.

Hi everyone :) .

Scary & Stormy are appropriate here, too, CathyS! We're also in the path of this hurricane, so dh & I did a lot of prepping yesterday. Errands, gassed up car & truck, cleaned gutters, checked & filled generator. Soooo glad we have one. Without it the sump pumps don't work & our basement floods. It's also a money saver because we can power our fridge & freezer. I'm also glad we can charge our laptops :-).

I'm washing sheets & towels today, & need to spend some time in the basement later cleaning up a few areas for easier access, just in case. I've also been doing some of next weeks cleaning chores because I feel a little antsy & if I keep moving it keeps my mind off of what is coming. Besides praying that everyone stays safe, I'm really hoping we don't lose any of our beautiful trees. Each time a storm like this blows through we end up spending a lot of time afterward cutting up tree limbs all over the yard with a chainsaw.

Hope everyone here stays safe & sound. (Dee, please be careful if you must drive!) ((Hugs)) & waves ~~~~~ to everyone.

Harmony - what is your favorite movie?

Lunch with DD went as well as expected.

Now it is time for non-negotiable toes up time.

I got up 2 hours late and have been behind on my schedule ever since.

But I'm getting some things done. First load of laundry is finished except for folding. Second load just buzzed and will need to be hung up to dry (inside.)

I made up the meal plan for next month, went over the grocery flyers, made up an impressively organized list and went out shopping. Got it all done in 90 minutes (and 30 of that was driving.) At first I thought dh had to come with me because I need ground beef and it was on sale at a store that is only in the suburbs. But the last flyer I looked at had it for the same price which meant I could go to the market town. There, even on Saturdays, the grocery stores are fairly quiet, especially since I went at lunch time.

Still like the new car.

Thanks for the replies about satellite radio. As I expected, we pay more here than you do - about 30% more.

I wasn't going to take a nap today (yesterday's messed up my sleeping last night) but I'm really tired now so don't know what to do. I need to make squares (2 different kinds) and a hamburg chowder for tomorrow and next Sunday (the squares will be frozen in between.) So I'll need energy for that.

Harriet: probiotics really affect my system. I have acidophilus capsules and if I take them I go from urgent & loose, to constipated. It is like flipping a switch. All I want is my normal system back again (loose & urgent came with the hepatitis and have never left except when I take the probiotics but their side effect is worse since it leaves me feeling bloated and uncomfortable.)

Can't believe this storm will take until Tuesday to get here and mostly Wednesday.

I'm thinking along the same line as you, Twins. Have a feeling as long as my blood sugars were staying like they were, I might not need the metformin. At any rate, I'm trying a 1/2 dose of the glipizide with the metformin tonight and see what it does. If that doesn't work, I'll try skipping tomorrow night's dose and take it Monday morning. Part of me thinks I might need just a LITTLE help but think what I'm taking is too much. I was having a bit of a struggle keeping it low enough but not bad.

DH has gone to take a shower. He filled our holding tank today for 'just in case' we need it sooner than we think. I made reservations for Tuesday in Lancaster. Looks like we might just be sitting around for a couple of days. That's okay. DH can probably use the rest.

Have a bunch of sugar-free jams, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, jellos, etc for xsil to take to dgs. He has juvenile diabetes so I'm sure he can use them.

Dfriend just brought us, not only bean soup for dh, but a large pan of chicken parm. Now when am I going to eat those? There's also a pan of the parm in our fridge for dcampowner. This guy just loves to cook! It smells luscious!

Sunny & Okay, what time of day do your dhs take their metformin? Dr. told me I could choose to take it with breakfast if I wanted. Somehow I think that might be more manageable.

Hi everyone....it's nice to get here a little earlier in the afternoon instead of later in the day.

I kept busy this morning with regular weekly cards. I've kept my apron on and this afternoon I've been cutting more fabric. There's no company today as ds#1 has to work late due to store inventory and dgd15 has a competition at another local high school. These competitions take all morning for practice and all afternoon & evening for all the schools to have their time on the field. Dh has one of my aprons on also --- he found a new cookie recipe to try!

In between my to dos I have watched some of the beach webcams. http://www.surfchex.com/follybeach-web-cam.php --- there are multi cams here and shows how rough the water is now. There have been quite a few surfers out in the waves! Dee... I was hoping there was some way for you to leave for the south a little earlier to miss the bad weather. You and dh will be in my thoughts and prayers this coming week! I know there are many people here that either will be affected by the wind and rain or that have loved ones and dfriends in those areas. They are in my thoughts as well.

Twins... I'm glad you are still able to see lots of wildlife close by. Have fun at Hob Lob! ((DMacs))!

Dee... maybe taking the extra pill at breakfast would work better since you wouldn't have as long time between meals as between dinner and breakfast. Tests of 60s and 70s are too low at any time! Dh sometimes has to have a small snack before he goes to bed, depends on what he has eaten during the day. Hope you can work it out soon.

Nancy... it's good to see you again. I don't watch the same programs as my dh either! I have a small tv in the family room where I can watch something different. Dgd's apron sounds cute.

Ivy said:
"There is just something about an apron that puts us in the mentality of "we're gonna get stuff done now!". Know what I mean? :?:" I know what you mean --- that's why I put mine on today! ;)
Happy Birthday to Mr. Ivy!

Dee... my post has sat here for a while....just saw your last question. Here's my post from the other day when you talked about the new script.:
"Dee ...I wanted to tell you that my dh is also taking Metformin, for quite a few years now. His is 1000 MG twice a day. He takes it after eating breakfast and after dinner. He has never had a bad reaction from it; it doesn't affect his appetite. The last A1C test was 6.2. Oh, the label on the bottle says Metformin is generic for Glucophage. Also, he gets his script through Publix free. Dr. sent the Rx from her office right to our nearest store by computer. That was 2 years ago. Script was renewed one year at a time. Hope this helps." Sorry, I know it's a little long.....
